yep, as i said, Matic rejoining them evened out the profit from de bruyne's sale in the jan. window.

Tbh, we could've played Oscar next to Matic in a 4-2-3-1. His tackling and passing abilities make him ideal in the pivot. We could've played Mata/KdB as the number 10 to give us that creative ability which Oscar does not.

I really do hope you mean Matic and not Oscar when you say tackling abilities.

If you mean Oscar then this = :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

Oscar's defensive contribution, followed by Pirlo's and finally Oscar's strengths

Seriously? Pirlo, one of the greatest registas(deep lying playmakers) hovered averaged 2 tackles a game on average. Trust me, Chelsea could have had its own Pirlo-Gattuso combo with Oscar-Matic, not saying they are(or will be) as good as them, but the 2 pairs are similar in qualities. One destroyer and one creative player. Oscar's interceptions will surely improve once he moves to a deeper position.

Instead of going in words of Internet, try to watch Oscar play instead. And what has this got to do with transfers, this could go on English Football Thread.

this completely misses the point of pirlo's tactical strengths, oscars strengths milan (or juventus') setup.

firstly, pirlo didn't play beside anyone, he floats on his own just behind a centre midfield pairing. in a 4-1-2-1-2 with milan or a 5-3-2 at juventus. both formation had narrow midfields and wing backs that have plenty of space to get forward, so they can get along side him. giving him the options of playing to either wing, or forward to the centre mids. pirlo's passing abilities were peerless, not just execution but the ability to see space so putting so many options around him let him completely dictate the teams creative outlets.

Oscar is a good player, but he warrants his price tag because he has pace and dribbling abilities, he's a good passer but not in the same league as pirlo. the tackling aspect isn't really that much of a big deal, pirlo was largely regarded as crap at tackling, he was there because he lacked pace to run at players and score goals from an advanced position but his vision was such he could still influence the game offensively from a deeper role. can oscar? no.

simply pairing them as creative player and destroyer really over simplifies things.

You come across all sorts in this world, I live in SW london and in a big chelsea area and not once have I ever heard oscar and the word tackling in the same sentence.

Yet I come on pc and here Oscar is known for his tackling and David Luiz was close to being chelsea captain and more importantly a chelsea legend.

This place does crack me up
