Football Transfers Thread

So much speculation and no action.

You wonder if Arsenal really try that hard to sign big name players.

Eto'o to Arsenal was the big story in some of the newspapers today, ?20m the price tag. Reckon there is a 5% chance of it happening, cant really see Eto'o leaving Barca now especially to come to Arsenal, what would be the point when his current employers have signed his potential suitors main player?

In hindsight you could see why he may fancy it, perhaps he is fed up with the amount of star players at Barca, especially with the addition of Henry, and his 'ego' so to speak is telling him to move on to a club where he will be the main man and focus of attention, and of course, where better than a team whose former player who matched that description, has just left?

Unlikely anything will come of it, but who knows?
I think I'd say there's a 0% chance for that happening

That's what I would have said if you had told me about Torres and Liverpool a couple of months ago.

Liverpool's "Spanish" camp and European style of playing was always good enough to attract Torres there. Besides a move from Atletico to Liverpool could be considered as a promotion (even though Atletico themselves are improving with every season).

Despite what someone said about getting to be the leader and star at Arsenal, why would Eto'o leave Barcelona for them? There were so many clubs where he would become the star so that logic simply doesnt work for me.

Well it does when you think that Arsenal play some of the best football around and are simply sublime when we(they) get going...Not going to happen though, and i don't really know if Liverpools style of play is European...they play better in europe, but would need to lift their game a bit to reach the more technical euro-spanish style of play.

Their play is extremely technical. Probably the only English side that plays that kind and is actually good at it.

Full credit goes to Rafa Benitez for that. But I'm afraid its good enough only for the knockout pattern competitions just as the Champions League. The premiership requires consistency and with the prolific goalscorer like Torres in the team, they could be achieving just that next season.

lol Eduardo, i used to sign him at Arsenal on Footy Manager, but we really need a class striker atm
His record speaks for itself, he's a consistent goal scorer which is what we really needed. 73 goals in 100 games for Dinamo Zagreb and 7 goals in 12 games for Croatia. If used right, he will get us goals, so very positive signing.

According to AS, Fernando Torres has apparently demanded for 100,000 pounds a week if he is to leave his beloved Atletico. Also a special clause in his contract would prevent him to be sold to Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future should the transfer take place.

Luis Garcia meanwhile is expected to unveiled at the Calderon tomorrow after completing a 4.5 million pound move from Liverpool. Apparently getting him for this low price was one of the conditions Liverpool had to accept in order to land Torres.

Have Manu signed anyone since Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves? What about Eto'o? i heard something about them doing a swap for Saha and £9m for Berbatov with Tottenham...sounds alrite to me

yup Eduardo bought by arsenal...not a world class player but is a class finisher as his record shows...could prove to be a good signing...

:( Can't believe Luis is leaving...he isn't a great player but he can come up with goals (or non goals :p) when we really need them, and is suited to big games.

Hmmm nice, I hope he can bang the goals in for the Goonerz, but we still need more signings. Man U are going crazy, i hear they after Tevez aswell?

Tevez has already turned them down. Said he wouldn't move there, by the looks if he's going to move anywhere it's going to be Inter or Real Madrid.
