Gavaskar blames Chappell for India's downfall

If coaches are of such utmost importance in the success of the Indian team, why not just get the coach to play on the field  .

The coach actually might even do better than some of the players (*cough* Sehwag...)

hahaha cheers dude

I feel that alot of players in the Indian team maybe be dropped now, eg Sehwag, Pathan, Gangully, Khan and a few others. They need to intoroduce more youth like they have with Sreesanth,

Who is that youth fast bowler that has been getting alot of praise I saw his cricinfo profile a long time ago i cant remember who it is i think he has long hair

Is it Sreesanth?????? Well he is the only one i can think of.

All the last few Indian bowlers who were hyped up have failed to live up to it.

There was VRV, RP, Munaf, Sreesanth, etc. There was also some Kashmiri fast bowler who was supposed to be really good, but I don't think he ever made the final cut.

Ranadeb Bose!!! Now with his stats why hasnt he gotten a chance I think he will soon though

Politics. :(

Amol Muzumdar is one of the best batsmen in India. Yet, he doesn't find a place in the team.

Apparently the selectors feel that the Bangladeshi wickets will not suit him, so he hasnt been picked. But they say that he will be picked in the future.

Chappel is partially to blame but I think the blame should go to Rahul Dravid for the WC performance, why the hell did he persist with Sehwag and electing to bat first against Bangladesh wasnt a wise decision either.

What's your obsession with Amol Muzumdar ?
Are you his relative or something ?
BTW Rahul Dravid is a better batsman than Muzumdar and he aint no sissy.

I think Gagandeep Singh is another pace bowler who selectors continue to blatantly ignore.

I agree about VRV and Munaf (= laziest fielder ever), but I reckon Sreesanth has been very promising, although he can be expensive. His performance in South Africa shows what he can achieve.

I don't think that's an adequate reason from the selectors to not pick Bose. A pace bowler should be able to take wickets on any type of pitch.

He is a sissy. Look at Jayawardene and Ponting, and then compare Dravid with them.

I'm not obsessed with Muzumdar. I'm just a big fan of his batting, and of late, his captaincy.

Gavaskars just an idiot...

Sreesanth and Munna have alot of talent. Especially sree, i mean he's a genuine fast bowler. He has the attitude, and munna is good as well. RP is also a pretty good prospect. Sadly, these players haven't been given as many chances outside the Sub.
Yeah, it got off topic, sorry.

I am not a fan of Gavaskar but he isnt a Idiot. What makes you insult a legend like Gavaskar who served our country better than the former coach. Did you forget all about Chappel's 'expirements' and his only answer to the losses were that it is a 'process' and the and goal is the World Cup 2007 and all that crap.
I know that the players have to play in the middle but why the hell did he make a mess out of them. For eg Pathan.
In the end Gavaskar is just making the point that Chappel isnt a good coach and BCCI is foolish enough not to realize that.

well why I'd like to see Gavaskar go out and win the World Cup in 2011 with India, som of the blame has to go to chappell for it, BUT the players are the ones out there......

They're nowhere near as good as they were hyped up to be. Munaf was rumored to be the fastest in the country when he was getting hyped up. Same with VRV and RP. They've not shown any extreme pace, though.

In hindsight, it seems Chappell as coach was made mainly because he had a big name. People like Tom Moody were overlooked because they weren't as successful with the Australian team.
