If we're going to call that ball-tampering, then I've never met a cricketer who doesn't tamper the ball. Do you really think we have team sweets just because they taste nice? Bloody hell, I've asked the umpire to hold my sweets while I'm bowling and been given them back at the end of the over.

Ridiculous ruling; frankly, I'd legalise ball-tampering and let ball-maintenance become just as much of a skill as any other tactical part of the game.
