Breaking News: Archie Thompson sacked
by
Holly Latham

The Melbourne Victory have just announced they and striker Archie Thompson have parted company. Thompson who has been a major part of the success for the Victory was told today that he was no longer needed at the club by manager Ernie Merrick.

Merrick believes this is a move that the Victory needed to make "We're looking at younger players" Merrick said "And Archie does not fall into our future plans" Merrick added at the press conference this afternoon.

The news comes on the eve of the clash between the Knights and Mariners down in Tasmania for a spot in the A-League Pre-season Grand Final and this news has overshadowed the preperations leading up to a massice clash for both sides.

There are rumours floating around that the Glenorchy Knights have already approached Thompson about coming to the club, with Glenorchy trying to secure David Harding for another two years, they have some competition to keep the striker.

Glenorchy have also had offers for Jimmy Francis who too is a striker for the side, and a major part of the Glenorchy make up, it is not clear who will be the replacement at the Victory for Thompson, but it seems that Thompson is a wanted man around the league.

A change in club could be good for Thompson, his game against the Knights saw hom net no goals, and was completely beaten, but there's also an offer from Sydney FC for him to travel to Sydney to play.

While the Knights would like to have a player like Thompson with some experience, they have some fine players already at the club, whether or not they are truly interested or they have just thrown him a contract in hopes to snag a top player is still unclear.

Good story mate, specially like the Queensland Crows :) very nice introduction into the sport.

Thanks. :) I will update this story later, just been a bit busy with Uni, and helping out with other stuff around the place and settling back into home. Also planning a few little things but should be fine soon.:happy:happy

The Game

First Half

The Central Coast Mariners kicked the game off in the middle of the park, and started the first drive forward which was stopped by the Glenorchy defenders Blair Stevanovich managed to get into the play early. He passed it along the ground stright to Ashie she went for a run which came unchallenged, before shooting a pass to Josh Waight, Waight who has been a star for the Knights of late took a long shot from outside the box and it sailed into the stands. The 47k fans on hand were surprised the first shot on goal was going to come from so far out. Vukovic brought the ball in with a long boot that lands at the feet of Petrovski, he got passed Ashie and then gets passed Garland and passes to Jedinak but he gets the ball stolen from Ili Reland who passes it straight to McKissack who loses the ball over the line. Owens throws the ball back into play and it;s taken by Gumprecht who shoots a pass to O'Grady who is a long way form home Leung steals the ball.

He looks for a pass and gets it to Tibesy who boots it long and it falls straight to DeSalis, he passes to Ashie, she has been in a lot of the play early hear she passes to to McKissack, and they are messing about with the ball Wilkinson challenges McKissack but he gets Waight going forward, Waight finds DeSalis who is creeping forward he launches the ball at the goal keeper and it is kept out, just. But we have a corner, Waight places the ball down in the corner spot and he is calling for the Knights to line up he sends in it and the ball sails over the keepers head and he brings the ball back in without many problems. Ashie gets the ball she brings it into the centre, she is tripped and the foul has been given against Gumprecht, she moves the ball on fast to Leung, who sends it to Garland, Garland moving forward passes to DeSalis, and he is brought down, this could see Vidmar in some trouble, no a freekick is awarded just outside of the box. DeSalis is going to take it, he asks the other Knights players to stay away as he sends a rocket at the keeper and it's in! 1-0 the ball went like a rocket and it went straight into the top of the net and the Knights get the dream start they were looking for.

Harding is walking around the sidelines, are the Knights looking for a change, early in this one? No it appears they aren't but we are back in the middle with Kwasnik and Owens, Owens passes the ball to Gumprecht that gets stolen by Reland, he wants to run with it and he is unchallenged, he shoots a pass to Garland, Garland sends it to Gilligan who is in the Glenorchy half of the field a pass out wide to McKissack sees him gaining some ground towards the penalty area he fires off a shot from there and it goes wide, it made Danny Vukovic take a dive for the ball but there was no way there was going to be a goal here. Hefferman gets a short pass from the keeper, and Waight is there to challenge, but the pass is shot off to Owens, and he goes for a little run before he meets a wall of Knights players, Ashie is there to meet Owens, Garland is there as well, but the ball is sent to Kwasnik, who is stripped of the ball from Copic, he then passes to Stevanovich and then the ball is with Leung and then with McKissack. McKissack holds the ball up and sees it off to Ashie she runs forward and finds Josh Waight who pushes forward he kicks the ball at the goals it's off the crossbar! It's back into play and Garland is on it he shots it saved! But the ball spills free and Josh Waight is there! He fires it home and goals! 2-nil

Vuokvich is annoyed, but the goal will stand there was no offside and the ball did manage to come back into play and the Knights were on the ball quickly, Waight has shown why he is one of the top young strikers in the land. Jedinak and Owens want to start this one off, and they hold it up letting Leung and Ashie come and get the ball, but McKissack is circling as well. The ball is then passed back to Wilkinson who accepts the ball and holds it up before finding Ruedd who then skips passed Waight, and he then dishes off a pass to Petrovski. Gilligan steals the ball and he is off with it, he gives it Stevanovich who dodges a tackle from Ruedd and then passes it straight to Waight, Waight crosses the ball to Ashie and she wants to have a long range shot the ball flies over the crossbar. The keeper had no worries seeing the ball fly over his head, Ashie was a bit of an optimist but she did manage to keep the keeper on his toes and he is not down there sleeping, lucky isn't it? Vukovich brings the ball in with a long kick into the middle of the ground there Garland gets the header away and it falls to Owens, which was not the target I imagine. He passes it off to Pettrovski who runs unchallenged until he meets Blair Stevanovich, he tries a fake to get around him but Stevenovich is on his game today and wrestles the ball away from him and sends it straight to Tibesy who launches the ball into the middle where Ashie and Vidmar fight for position, Vidmir wins the header but Glenorchy have the players with Garland in the area. Garland sends the ball down to Waight who in turn gets a hard boot on the ball sending it over the bar again. Garland appears to be n ot happy, but Waight gives him the sorry sign it's all good boys you are leading 2-nil here!

The ball is back into play after a slight hold up, the Mariners are not looking to move the ball on that fast they want to now control the tempo and piss off the Knights, the ball is with Vidmar, he finds Owens who gets passed Reland and gets passed McKissack, Leung gets the ball from him and then passes to McKissack, who is apparently being subbed by the looks of it! He hands the ball to Ashie and she goes for a run and then she gets it to Garland and then gets it to Waight. He gets the ball kicked away from him and n ow Harding is ready to make his way onto the pitch here, off goes McKissack. Interestingly enough Harding has not started a game since the first friendly against Tilford Zebras but Harding is now on the pitch and the Mariners bring the ball back into play the ball comes off the head of Vidmar who now has Harding close to him, Harding gets the ball to Ashie, she then passes the ball back to Harding who finds some room and passes to Leung who is getting himself into a position to score but Wilkinson is there and he gets the ball away from Leung. The whitle for half time goes and Glenorchy fans are happy with the current state here of the game Glenorchy are leading 2-nil and are looking like they are heading towards their first Pre-Season Grand Final without dropping a game.

Second Half

Glenorchy are kicking us off for the second half they are looking pretty comfortable here today, with their 2 goal lead, Harding and Waight kick us off Harding with the ball now he passes straight to Leung who takes off passed his opponent, Garland is on his way with him and he gets the pass and he is inside the box he goes to shoot but Vidmar is there to clear the ball the ball lands with Owens and he dances passed Harding, a long range pass finds Jedinak alone and he fires it in at Chambers who snuck on when we were not paying attention but the ball flies wide and it's seen out of play. Chambers brings the ball back into play and it's at the feet of Reland and Reland passes it to Gilligan who takes a bit of arun and passes a couple of the Mariners players he passes to Ashie who then on passes it to Hardingh. Harding seems fine enough to slow down the play and set this one up Waight runs past him and he gets the ball given to him he runs off with it before DeSalis joins him he passes to DeSalis who crosses back to Waight and Waight fires it home he goals! 3-nil The Mariner fans are almost ready to go home this game has ended in a nightmare for them and it would seem that the Knights are headed for their first big Final in the A-League.

The Mariners have decided that it is time for Greg Owens to go off and be replaced by Nick Midja and Luis Rueda was replaced by Matthew Osman as they kick off again in the centre the Knights hold off on their attack forard Osman has the ball and he looks to pass to Gumprecht he goes forward he meets Reland he dances around him and a sliding challenge by Gilligan sees the ball out and a corner is won by the Mariners. The Mariners are in no hurry here, and they set it up the ball is fired into the area and the ball is headed over the bar. The Mariner fans let out a groan as the ball heads into the crowd behind the goals.

Luther Chambers brings the ball back into play Reland chests it down and shoots the ball off to Brian Gilligan, and the ball is passed to Harding, Harding skips passed his opponent and he tries to drive it forward Wilkinson with a sliding challenge sees the ball out. Harding wants to throw it in fast and he does it reaches Waight that passes to Ashie, Ashie then passes to DeSalis who is now just outside the box and he tries to fire it in but the keeper sees the ball away and the referees call a corner for the Knights. Harding heads over to the spot and he watches as the Knights hurry, the keeper Luther Chambers is also in the area now. Harding sends the ball in and the Mariners keeper Danny Vukovic takes the ball with no trouble, the Knights keeper Luther Chambers dashes towards the goals as Vuvokic quickly sees the ball into the middle of the ground. Nick Midja has the ball now and he passes to Gumprecht and he passes it back to Midja and they head towards the Glenorchy defence who is ready for the challenge and Copic sees the ball clear into the stands just past the centre of the ground. Vidmar is there and he throws the ball in a hurry the Mariners are now between a Gilligan and a hard place as both Gilligans are there to stop any chance of a Mariners strike.

Stevanovich has the ball and he gives it Garland who sees the ball to Harding, who passes it to Waight, who has already scored a hattrick here today, he gets the ball back to Harding and Harding heads forward and fires off a long range shot which never looked like going for goal the ball just sails over the bar and Vukovic didn't have any troubles. He sends the ball back into play and the final whistle goes, Glenorchy has won, and Josh Waight has run the Mariners ragged today and has another 3 goal game.

The Knights will see themselves in the A-League Pre-Season Cup Grand Final, who they play will be determined soon, but the Knights fans are leaving the stadium happy as are the Knights players that have worked hard on getting themselves into a good position here.

Post Match Analysis

I don't think I am the only surprised with the outcome of this game, Glenorchy Knights are a good side, but I would have thought the Mariners would have had the players to cover the Knights here today. I predicted the Central Coast Mariners to record a comfortable win here, and yet they find themselves with a comfortable loss here to Glenorchy and were out played by young Glenorchy striker Josh Waight who has again managed to score 3 goals in a game. The Knights are looking like a solid unit, and could go close to winning the Pre Season Cup here.

Key Man Watch (Glenorchy) - Blair Stevanovich:
Stevanovich was very aware down back for the Knights today, he was composed and made some cruicial interceptions and was a tough man to get passed. Though the Mariners managed to fire off a few shots and even scored, but the goal disallowed due to them being offside.

Key Man Warch (Central Coast Mariners) - Alex Wilkinson: As far as the Mariners goes he had a decent game today, but it was not a great game, he did make a few timely challenges, but the Knights still managed to out play the Mariners and get passed the defence and the goals and scored 4 times today. It could have been much worse for the Mariners, but the defence managed to shut them down later in the game and managed to make them work harder for their shots on goal. Some of which were long range fireballs that flew off into the crowd or managed to go wide.

change your home ground to KGV (the real life home ground)

Keep to up. An easy win there.

Thanks I would have but the ground is a bit small for an A-League venue, so we built the Glenorchy Stadium :) Our reserve side plays there still.

Also I am taking sign ups for this game if anyone wants to get a game with one of my new NSL clubs I will be adding managers and will control 3 teams...

Knights stand by A-League
by Troy Holt

The Glenorchy Knights have decided to reject the formal offer of the National Soccer League to leave the A-League and join the revamped NSL. Chairman Bradley Santos announced today that the club would stay in the A-League. "We are committed to the A-League and we are not looking to leave" said Bradley Santos this morning at the press conferance announcing the future of the club.

"The League is our home and we are not looking to league any time soon." Bradley Santos added. While the Knights might be staying in the A-League the futures of a few key players are in doubt. David Harding, Jimmy Francis, Scott Sandars and Falco Walker have been offered good deals to leave the club.

South Melbourne Swans have targetted striker David Harding, and Jimmy Francis, while the lure of going overseas is still there for both men they have not committed either way. Falco Walker has popped up recently on the transfer radar of the new Melbourne Panthers side, they have been looking at some good talent and are looking to strike early.

The Glenorchy Kings have also expressed interest in getting the Knights pair of Harding and Sandars Harding has come out and said he is happy in the state and Glenorcny Kings have been looking to sign some big A-League talent.

Real Madrid currently stand out as the favourites to secure Harding, they are pretty confident he will sign a contract at the end of the A-League season, while the Knights too are confident he will stay.

The jury is still out on a few Knights players if they will stay but the Glenorchy Knights are standing firm on their committment passed the current season in the A-League,

Knights to meet Glory
by
Casey Lucas

The Glenorchy Knights will be battling the Perth Glory for the A-League Pre-season Cup as the Glory has won their way through their division to meet the Knights. The Knights are going to go into this game as they have the whole pre-season as underdogs despite playing some good football.

The Knights in their first season are fighting to make themselves look like a legitimate threat this season and no one has given them much of a chance. "We (The Knights) are happy with the underdog tag." says Glenorchy Knights striker David Harding at a press conferance today.

"I am sure they (Perth) will be a tough side, and we are going to have to make sure that we play with the same intensity that we have all pre-season." continued Harding. While Harding appears confident that his Knights will beatr the Glory he still will not confirm not deny the offers that he has been offered by those big English Clubs.

Harding also has not said if he will be a Knight come the end of the season "I am not going to discuss my future yet, we have not even played the season yet." Harding comments when asked about his future with the side. Glenorchy Kings have been sniffing around "I've not been contacted by them (Kings) yet, but even if I had, I would not be talking about that." he continued.

Whether or not he will be at the side next season, there is no doubting his importance in the forth coming clash with the Glory, the Knights have said to have been handling this week well and are looking forward to the clash and are excited with the chance to win their first ever pre-season competition.

Perth and New Zealand become members of the new National Soccer League
By Travis Becker

Perth has capped off the expansion of the new National Soccer League by becoming the 13th side in the league.

The Perth Eagles as they want to be known as will be playing officially at Subiaco Oval and will be sharing the colours of AFL side the West Coast Eagles.

While there were calls for the side to be known as the Subiaco Eagles football side Subiaco was not happy about the side.

With this signing the 14th team in the league will be former A-League side Wellington who have been playing the season in the New Zealand Football Championship.

They have found themselves wanting an option of returning to top flight football and this is going to be their chance.

Samuel McQuade has been named the interim club director of the Perth Eagles he will most likely see out the coming National Soccer League season.

Wellington Phoenix has not changed any of the clubs staff since their move from the A-League to the New Zealand Football Championship and then to the National Soccer League.

Perth has extended it?s board with Terry Jensen becoming the clubs Director of Football, Geoff Pearce, Grant Diaz, Stephen Diamantopoulos have all been signed as club directors for the Perth Club.

The Perth Club will soon be starting to sign other staff, as well as players it is not expected for them to announce any current signings or who they are after a scout will also be signed to the team to assist with this process.

The new New Zealand side has been given a new cash injection from an anonymous investor who wishes to remain nameless and faceless he will be announced in good time as a future owner of the club.

Tibesy to miss Glory Clash
by Aaron Walker

It has been confirmed by the Glenorchy Knights medical staff that Tibsey will not be taking his spot in the clash against Perth.

Tibsey has suffered an injury and back up keeper from the United States Luther Chambers will take his spot in the team.

"We expect Luther to do well." said the Knights boss at the press conference as Glenorchy were getting ready to announce their team for the game to take on the Glory.

There were some talk that Glenorchy were going to play their reserve keeper but they have decided to stick with the back up un Luther even though he is young he will be fine.

Glenorchy Knights manager has staked a lot on the new keeper and he hopes he does repay the faith that he has on him.

Preview

The last time these two teams met was back on July 14th at Members Equity Stadium and Glenorchy pulled out a 10-nil win over Perth. Josh Waight was on song he scored 3 goals, and David Harding too managed to score himself 2 goals, one of which came from a penalty and the first game from a missed penalty Harding managed to dive on the loose ball and fired it home. Also the last time they mey the now injured Tibsey managed to come forward for a corner and goaled too.

But it's now a few weeks later and we are now getting towards the business end of the Pre-Season cup the Knights should not win this game with ease like they have done in the past. But can Perth Glory make the tides turn on the Knights and make the Knights suffer their first loss? Or will the dominate Knights continue on their way towards an A-League crown?

Pre Match Analysis

Line Ups

Glenorchy Subs

glenperpresubs.jpg

Key Match (Glenorchy) Josh Waight - The Stiker has been on song for the Knights he has managed to score sets of 3 goals in his matches throughout the pre-season and he is going to be the key for the Knights if they are going to win this one.

Key Man (Perth Glory) Mate Dragicevic - Much like Josh Waight I have picked another striker and a striker that is going to be the key for the Glory, the Knights are going to need to shut down Dragicevic for them to have a chance of winning this one.

Prediction

Perth Glory have got to be favourites for this one, Glenorchy are playing in their first ever pre-season competition and rhe Glory have been in finals games before. The last time they met however the Glenorchy Knights managed to beat the Glory. But I am expecting a reversal here and the Glory are going to beat the Knights.

Will be a tough game but I think the Knights can pull it off. Waight will be the key here and Harding is the super sub. When he comes on, there'll be more quality on the field. Can't wait for the new teams to enter the league :D.

First Half

We are hear at Glenorchy Stadium on a dry August day here and we are waiting for the teams to come out Glenorchy playing in their first A-League Pre-season Competition and they are looking at claiming their first pre-season comp. Both teams are ready for the kick off and the referee blows his whistle and Glenorchy get the game underway Josh Waight with the ball saends it back to Ili Reland, Reland runs with the ball before sending it to Ashie, Ashie heads forward with the ball she looks for a pass and it goes left to Petar Copic he tolds the ball up and sends the ball along to Adam Garland who passes the ball then to Ashie she keeps the ball moving with a nice pass for Waight. Waight is moving on goal and he fires off a shot and it;s saved Harnwell clears the ball from danger but the ball lands with Jason Leung, Leung heads for goal and he's now on an angle from the goal and he shoots for goal LEUNG SCORES!!!! 1-nil Leung has just scored his first ever goal for Glenorchy. Glenorchy has gotten the perfect stat in the Pre-season final.

Perth Glory are now going to kick off here in the middle of the pitch Perth Glory are holding the ball up a bit forcing the Knights to attack. Reland steals the ball and the Knights the ball is given to McKissack who then gives the ball to De Salis and the ball is sent away from danger by Jamie Harnwell.

Scott McKissack finds himself with the ball again, he crosses the ball to Waight who finds himsslf in some space now Waights heading into goal and he fires off a shot and Velaphi did well to send the ball away but Garland has picked up the loose ball, and he's unmarked and he heads for goal and he shoots GARLAND GOALS!!!! 2-nil That's the 5th goal this season scored by Adam Garland, the Knights have scored their second in very quick time and Peth Glory are now right up against it. Colosimo cannot believe the goal was allowed to stand there are protests of offside but the referee are waving away all the protests there are some very unhappy Perth Glory fans in the stands!

Perth Glory kick off in the middle of the pitch and we see Dragicevic pass the ball to Rizzo, Rizzo passes it back to Dragicevic but the pass it intercepted by DeSalis he passes to Waight and then Waight goes for a bit of a run before a pass to Ashie she passes it to McKissack who then passes it DeSalis who has a shot on goal the keeper gets fingertips on the ball DeSalis had a perfect opportunity to beat the keeper and was surprised the keeper managed to get the ball. Velaphi did a great job getting onto that one Tarka clears the ball away from danger as the keeper picks himself up.

Rizzo is at the fall of the ball and he quickly passes it to Colosimo who then passes to Danze Perth Glory are moving it forward towards goal but the shot on goal is saved by Chambers, he gets the ball out to Gilligan and the Knights clear but the ball is turned over and Perth Glory are going to hit the Knights on the rebound here. Garland is chasing Danze but he brings him down Garland might be in some troiuble here! Nope no trouble for him! But it's a freekick and Rizzo is going to take it, he dispatches the kick goalwards and Champers saves the goal clutching the ball on his chest.

Chambers sends the ball back into play, but the ball is going to go out for a throw-in the ball comes off of a Perth Glory player, luckily for the Knights, McKissack is going to move in and take the throw-in he throws it to Waight who is going to go forward he's coming forward unchallenged at the moment. Waight is coming on goal and he strikes a long range piledriver! Tando Velaphi did well to hold onto the ball. He sends the ball back into play the ball falls to McKissack who with a nice pass finds Waight, Waight with a lovely pass to Cameraon DeSalis, he's still got the ball here for Glenorchy. Perth Glory are inviting DeSalis onto them he moves into the penalty area DeSalis centres the ball but the ball bounces off Coyne and a corner is given to the Knights.

Adam Garland goes over to take the corner he fires the ball Blair Stevanovich climbs above Jamie Harnwell and the ball comes off his head and it flies off into the back of the net. STEVANOVICH SCORES!!! 3-nil Stevanovich had the goal at his mercy and he has scored an excellent goal here for Glenorchy. The Perth fans are just shocked at what they are seeing. There's nothing they can do how are they going to stop the Knights? The last time they met it was a 10-nil finish can it happen again? Perth Glory are ready to kick us off, they are in no hurry to move the ball on Dragicevic is going to hold the ball up he shoots a pass back to Rukavytsya Leung is moving in on Rukavytsya Leung manages to wrestle the ball away from him and sends the ball to Waight.

Garlands gets the pass from Waight and he moves in on goal, floats the ball over into the penalty area and Coyne again sees the ball out. Garland sends the ball in DeSalis tried a half volley had had plenty of time to strike the ball but the ball flies off over the ball and it's a goal kick to Velaphi. Velaphi plays the ball long to Coyne, but Waight gets the ball and he is off and headed towards the goal, he has only the keeper to beat moves into the box and he sends the ball towards goal and it's there WAIGHT SCORES!!! 4-nil Oh it's turning into a nightmare here for Perth Glory, Glenorchy are dominating and that was another fine goal, all Waight needed to do was beat the goalkeeper and then apply the final tough there. Waight has scored his 10th goal for the season for Glenorchy, Glenorchy managed to score on the counter and they are looking the goods here now.

Perth Glory kick off, Dragicevic with the ball now he passes off to Rizzo but Reland manages to get in the way of the ball and Reland passes it to Copic who gives the ball to Waight and then Waight hands it to Ashie who advances with the ball she has a shot but Topor-Stanley gets himself in between the ball and the goal and the ball is sent back to where Stevanovich is standing Stevanovich advances and he floats the ball in to the far post McKissack loses his man and finds himself with some room the balls is headed towards the goal but Velaphi did fantastically well to get his fingertips on the ball.

The assistant referee raises his flag and Scott McKissack is offside but that was still a great save by the keeper, a freekick is is awarded to Perth Glory which is quickly taken by Velaphi Mate Dragicevic jumped with Copic and Dragicevic has won the header and the ball goes to Danze. Danze plays the ball to Leo Bertos it was a superb pass for Leo Bertos he plays the ball to Rukavytsya he attempts a thunderous drive but he cannot keep the ball down and it flies over the bar. Luther Chambers sends the ball back into play Leung wins an aerial challenge against Colosimo Leung flicks the ball on.

The balls ends up with Petar Copic he plays the ball down the left but the ball then goes out for a goal kick to Perth Glory, Velaphi takes the goal kick Danze goes after the ball he has Adam Garland with him and he swings the elbow back and he hits him in the face! To the boos of the fans the referee blows his whistle he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a yellow card! Anthony Danzde is going to need to becareful now he's given away a freekick. It is taken by Garland who gets the ball to DeSalis, he's attempting to go on goal but he gets tackled by Topor-Stanley. There was a good chance that DeSalis could have scored here! Desalis pounces on the rebound and he has found himself in some space he goes for goal but Velaphi does well to send it away and Coyne gets to the ball first and he makes sure to clear this one and sends out of the area and out of play and it's going to be a Glenorchy throw-in.

McKissack moves in and he throws the ball back in and Waight crosses the ball to Stevanovich, he gets above Topor-Stanley and he gets free now and a powerful header heads towards goal but it flies over the bar. It's a goal kick to Perth Velapphi lofts the ball forward Ashie raises bravely above Dragicevic to win the ball her header goes down to DeSalis. DeSalis brings the ball forward he plays the ball off to Waight and Waight now gets himself behind the defence with only the keeper now to beast a thunderous drive is headed to goal and WAIGHT SCORES!!!! 5-nil That was a very powerful finish from Waight, and that was his second goal of the game. We have come to expect powerful strikes from this young Glenorchy striker. Perth Glory are making a substitution Rukavytsya heads off the pitch and he will be replaced here by David Micevski.

Perth Glory kick us back off, Dragicevic has had a dirty day so far, he passes it to Micevski who has just come onto the field but the ball is won by WAight, he advances on the keeper and fires off the keeper manages to get the ball away and the ball is sent long and it comes off of McKissack and Harnwell will bring the ball back into play as Perth Glory changes their formation to 4-5-1 as the change happens the ball goes out for a throw-in for Glenorchy. Stevanovich moves across to take the throw-in he gets the ball to Leung he keeps the ball moving Jason Leung plays the ball to the feet of DeSalis. Simon Colomsimo comes in to clear the ball but it lands with Brian Gilligan who is now advancing on the keeper he strikes the ball but the ball will not come down and it flies off into the 10th row. The fans throw back the ball it wasn't a happy strike as we are at the end with a lot of Perth Glory fans.

Topor-Stanley clears the ball from the goal kick from the keeper, in the middle DRagicevic and Copic go after the ball, Dragicevic tackles Copic and brings him down it looks like Copic is injured and the referee is calling for him to go off the ground for treatment. The fourth official holds up the sign and there are 2 minutes of injury time to be played here. Glenorchy are making a double substitution off comes DeSalis and on comes Harding and Maxie shakes the hand of Josh Waight who has also come onto the field.

There's not much time left in the half Glenrochy get the play back underway with Reland with the ball he shoots a pass to McKissack who is advancing on goal, but the whistle blows for half time and it looks like a Glenorchy win is on the cards Glenorchy have been all over Perth Glory and have the goals to prove they have been dominate, the last time they met as Perth fans would remember there was almost the same result. The Glenorchy fans who are here are happy with the current result so far they have been making a noise and chanting for most ofn the game they have themselves a short break here to get themselves ready for a big second half their side is about to win their first A-League trophy! Of course it's just the pre-sesaon but how many sides that were formed towards the end of the last season, and had to start from scratch have won themselves a pre-season comp in their first season? It would not have been many.

As he has been most of the pre-season Josh Waight has been on song he has himself 2 goals and is now making a rest there in the showers and he can be pleased with his first half and his whole pre-season. On the other side of the coin Dragicevic has had a dirty day and has not been the best here today hopefully for him and the Perth Glory fans he can lift and they can lift. We are getting ready here for the second half the teams are on there way out of the sheds and are on their way onto the pitch Glenorchy are getting into their positions and now Perth Glory are now on their way out they have taken their time to come out.

Perth Glory are going to kick us off here for the second half, what have they got in store for their fans? Are now going to stand up and fight and do the impossible? Danze has the ball and he looks to get himself some room Danze hits the ball 20 yards back towards Jamie Coyne who is forced to hold the ball. Coyne then passes to Micevski.

Micevski holds the ball and then he advances with the ball he passes it forward to Rizzo who advances on goal he shoots on goal but that goes out of play and it's a goal kick. Luther Chambers takes the goal kick Leung looks to latch onto this one after Ashie had beaten Colosimo in the air for the ball. Ashie's headed has come to Petar Copic who has slightly recovered from his injury he looks to get the ball in front of Leung who gets the ball he plays a nice pass to Maxie who passes it onto Harding, Harding breaks free of the defender and he fires off a shot on goal but it gets sent over the crossbar by Velaphi he did well here and it's a corner to Glenorchy.

Ashie sets the ball up ready for the corner and she tries to send the ball in it swings Leo Bertos gets above Maxie and clears the ball but the whistle has gone and the referee has said that Maxie was indeed pushed by Leo Bertos! The referee has called a penalty here and the Perth Glory players are furious! They are telling the referee their thoughts on the decision and the referee has called over Harnwell and this could be trouble for him he's shown a yellow card. In the mean time Ili Reland has gotten an injury he's trying to run it off while the Perth Glory players were surrounding the referee to vent theis displeasure, but there's nothing that can be done here Harding is going to step up and take the spot kick here, Harding might be feeling a bit nervous here the last time he ahd a penalty it was saved.

Harding comes in and he has scored! 6-nil Harding has managed to put behind him that last shot on goal from a penalty a few weeks earlier and he has scored! The Knights fans and players are all celebrating while the Perth Glory players are not very happy and they are walking back with heads down and they are dejected here now. Perth Glory are now switching to a defensive style, a little bit to late here for the Glory, they are going to kick us back off. Glenorchy are looking to make a substitution but it's going to have to wait, Rizzo has the ball he sends it long and wide to Colosimo Copic slides in and he takes the ball out of play. Ili Reland is being taken off and in his place will be Christian Shulse the fans are clapping Reland off the pitch he appears to be carrying an injury but he probably won't be too bothered here tonight!

Colosimo brings the ball back into play, the balls with Dragicevic has the ball now and he tries to get passed Shulse but he steals the ball he he takes off he gets out of danger but he has elbowed Dragicevic! This could be trouble for Shulse as he has just come on the pitch! A freekick has been awarded but the referee wants to have a word with Shulse has shows him a yellow card! Dragicevic passes the ball to Rizzo who then passes it over to Colosimo and he is going to try and take it forward but he is brought down by Maxie! It looks like Colosimo might be injured here and it's from the challenge of Maxie. Colosimo is back up but he is limping a bit he walks over to the sidelines and allows Rizzo to take the freekick and he passes it to Dragicevic and he advances forward but Shulse is there again and he clears the ball away from the danger area. McKissack has the ball from the Shulse clearance he passes it to Garland and he breaks the defence but he cannot get himself a goal the keeper has the ball and he clears it now.

The ball is cleared and Nicky Rizzo and Blair Stevanovich are going to fight for it but Rizzo brings down Stevenovich Copic gets the ball and launches it forward Tarka beats Harding in the area in the box and he has cleared the ball just as far as Leung who collects the ball and he advances on goal now he fires off a shot and the ball goes close but it skims the top of the bar. Velaphi sends the ball back into play, and Ashie collects the ball and takes the the ball forward. She passes the ball to Maxie and he gets himself into some space and he has a shot on goal but the ball lands safely into the chest of Tando Velphi who clutches the ball. Colosimo who was injured by Maxie is still struggling he gets some treatment from the psysio Perth are going to make a couple of changes now.

Dino Djulbic will be replacing the injured Colosimo who has not had a good game at all, Dragicevic will be making way for Sekulovski. Velaphi brings the ball back into the play, Harding leaps over the top of Djulbic but Djulbic wins the ball down to Rizzo he passes it along to Sekulovski he advances with the ball Rizzo gets passed the defence the ball ends up with Tarka who goes down from a Harding bodycheck a freekick is awarded and Harding is asked wlak over to the referee and he is issued a yellow card. Harding is off now and Tarka is preparing to take the freekick he takes the kick but Harding gets himself in the way of the ball and it comes off of his body and heads out into space where Copic is there to collect the ball. Copic then passes along the line to Shulse who finds McKissack running past who then sees the ball to Leung he finds Harding and Harding is in some space he makes the shot on goal Danze throws himself in front of the ball and the ball flies off of him and goes out for a corner kick.

Leung places the ball down and he sends the ball flying into the penalty area Danze headers the ball out of danger the balls lands to Shulse, Shulse passes to Harding who gets himself into some spaces and fires the ball off Velaphi makes an excellent save! He managed to find himself in the right position and managed to grab a hold of the ball.

Velaphi sends the ball back into play and Danze sees the ball away but it finds Leung who plays a lovely ball ahead of Maxie who works the ball inside and gets a pass to Adam Garland, Garland gets inside and takes a lot and he would be very disappeared with that one it's very wide and that's not troubling the keeper. The fourth official raises his board and we have 4 minutes of inury time remaining in this game. Velaphi sends the ball back into play it's brought down by Rizzo who finds Djulbic he holds the ball up and waits for an option going past.

Rizzo with the ball again he is met by Shulse who is looking to get the ball off of him, Rizzo finds Micevski who passes it forward to Danze who has found himself into some space, he passes it to Sekulovski who moves on goal now and he shoots for goal and that is wide Luther Chamber sees that ball wide and he had to do no work with that one. Naum Sekulovski would be disappointed that the ball went so wide, much like the rest of the team today nothing has gone right for Sekulovski. Luther Champers sees the ball back into play and he finds Shulse and Danze fighting for the ball in the air with Shulse winning the ball down to McKissack who finds Ashie she then finds Harding with a fine pass, he's pressing forward but the final whistle blows and the Glenorchy crowd go wild they have won their first Pre-Season Competition!

The players are celebrating what a victory this was, and it was set up in the first half with Josh Waight and his unstopable play, and his 2 goals were capped off with this win. Harding managed to get onto the score sheet as well, and we saw Leung score his first ever goal this afternoon. The players are all shaking hands the players sit down and the A-League Pre-Season Cup is handed to the Captain of the side Brendon DeSalis and manager Robert Vandenberg who has coached them to an impressive win! Perth Glory exit the playing area and they leave the Knights to celebrate the win, before the Knights too exit the ground.

Post Match Analysis

I don't think I am the only surprised by the result, from neutral point of view I had pencilled in a comfortable win to the Perth Glory but they have found themselves outclassed and out played and Glenorchy have done what most fans around the A-League would have said was impossible in pulling of a win against Perth. Glenorchy has an abundance of talent a lot of which was on show to today, but there are a few players that have not been playing and they would make this team even deadlier.
The Knights have shown they are going to be as force to reckoned with and with the A-League Regular season coming up the Knights are going to have to really prove themselves on the big stage and while they have had a good pre-season the real stuff is about to begin, can the Knights go all the way?

Key Man Watch (Glenorchy) Josh Waight - I thought Waight was the best player on the pitch today, he scored 2 goals and added an assist that ended a top all round performance. The young Knights striker has scored 10 goals so far for them this pre-season and has been nothing short of sensational in the games he has played. Apart of the Glenorchy Knights youth set up Waight has knocked back new contracts offered to him by the Knights but he has still got 2 years left on a current deal so there is no need for him to decide at the moment.

Key Man Watch (Perth Glory) Mate Dragicevic - He'll really want to forget about today's game as quickly as possible not much managed to go his way which was the story of this game for the whole side. But his passing was also woeful which made his day even worse and even made him feel even worse and when he was subbed he was more then likely happy to bring this whole episode to an end.

Waight was brilliant. He really set the standard for Glenorchy players. Butboy got us off to a great start with an early goal and the goals just continued. Perth out played.
