Ridiculous punishment handed down to MacLaren today but at least they didn't try and take away Hamilton's or Alonso's points. I'm not a big MacLaren fan but it's been obvious for years that the FIA is biased towards Ferrari. We thought it was just because of Schumi at first and now it seems it's just because it's Ferrari. What kind of governing body docks a team all its race points because one of its drivers is disadvantaged by the actions of another of its drivers?
If MacLaren really were spying on Ferrari, and I'd want some pretty good evidence, then docking them some points should be the maximum penalty. Stripping them of all their points is disproportionate imo.
At least FA and LH can race each other without worrying about taking the other out and losing the team points now though...

I wont comment on the punishment until the evidence is made public by the FIA. But yes, no one can deny the fact that the body is heavily biased towards Ferrari, which is a real disgrace to the sport of Formula 1.

Neither Stepney or Coughlan gave evidence yesterday according to Ron Dennis' statement. That is bemusing.

If what the FIA has revealed is correct, I have to admit, I'm amazed that Fernando Alonso and Pedro de la Rosa havent received punishment.

even if its not from the fia, maybe mclaren would do something internal about it?

Having seen the evidence it's hard to argue with McLaren being punished in some way, but yet it's a half arsed punishment in some ways, with Alonso, who clearly was aware of the Ferrari documents and the contact with Stepney, not being punished in some way. Truly baffled as to why he got away without being disciplined in some way and I say he's got away with it completely because he said openly said he doesn't care about the constructor's championship.

He is quite possibly the most selfish driver I've ever known.

They have to. I can't see how DLR or Alonso can remain with the team after this. Alonso clearly doesn't want to stay anyway so I doubt he'd have an issue with being "released". For all the criticism Michael Schumacher received for his on track tactics (myself included!), he did nothing that compares to what Alonso has done.

I never wish to see Alonso in a McLaren again after the way he has acted this season. Renault, or whoever, are welcome to him.

What I'd like to see for next season is MacLaren firing Alonso and De la Rosa and getting Button to drive alongside Hamilton.
He'd probably drive terribly but it would be nice to see two British drivers at MacLaren.

Yep that would be good. I think Alonso will be gone anyway because him and Hamilton really don't get on, and that can't be goood for a team.

how does everyone here rate davidson?

this year, given the car he is in, he has done (from what i can remember) quite well...

stick him in a mclaren alongside hamilton, maybe?

Enough of British bias here, but if Alonso does leave Mclaren, I think they should be looking at someone like Rosberg, Heidfeld or Kubica, all of whom have the ability. Rosberg would be my pick.

Alonso would do well wherever he goes because of the capital he carries along with him. Its safe to say that Renault were hugely dependent on him.

Well whoever they choose, i'm sure they will be good next year.

Might be worth a punt, wouldn't challenge Hamilton too much, be a willing No.2, be interesting to see whether he had the pace. I'd consider Sutil as he would be quick enough to pick up podiums whereas I'm not so sure with Davidson.

As if Hamilton has acted much better.

i can confirm that de la rosa has been sacked and i think everyone knows that alonso wants to leave. If so i want to see Kubica, Rosberg, Kovaleinen or Davidson in a McLaren next year. They all are young good drivers.
