Group D thread (Mexico, Iran, Angola, Portugal)

I watched Mexico against the Netherlands the second half. They didn't look that great. But maybe cause they changed four players during halftime, which brought the quality down maybe.

Iran sounds to be in a bit of form right now.

This is actually completely the wrong thread for that.

Anyway, I didn't see Portugal playing much friendlies. When was their last friendly?

Well they played Luxembourg on 3rd june in France and beat them 3-0, with Simao scoring twice and Luis Figo scoring the third goal. They also seem to be in good form with a very talented and attacking team.

After looking at the lead up games, Iran may well find a spot in the top 2. Mexico don't look great at all, and Portugal hardly ever reach their peak in World Cups.

Portugal are only good for their first 2 games.

Not really, the Mexicans aren't as strong as form makes them look.

I reckon that Portugal will win this group and won't make a shock exit like last time - they are simply too strong this time.

Yeah, I just watched the results of the friendlies today on Teletext and saw that result from yesterday. Good to see them playing a friendly.

hondeyho is it why they are ranked at 4th in Coca-Cola World Ranking? They are good but I want Iran to win, BTW I really really want a Iran VS USA clash, that would be awsum, trust me.

They are ranked by their results, not by who they play. And Mexico play a load of crap teams from North America usually. Mexico dont look great but they should beat Iran comfortably. Portugal had a shocker last time round with losing to the USA 3-2 in the first game. But they're stronger now with Postiga etc. and Figo back for one last go.

EDIT: 1966th post at the right time :p.

comfortably?, I don't think so, after looking at the Sweden match, nothing must be 'comfortabe' ATM for anyteam exept Brazil (:p) This ain't cricket you see.

This Iran has the best team combination I've seen so far of them. And they actually almost beat Croatia in a friendly, but the referee had to give a penalty to Croatia in the 97th minute.

And I watched Mexico against the Netherlands, but didn't show any great football, although I still would stay Mexico is the favourites to win this match.
