GTA V

I'm hearing quite a few people saying that they've beaten the game - how long is the campaign more or less, especially if you don't just blast through the story missions?

Its pretty damn long. My estimate roughly around 30-35hrs story itself

There are some 69 missions. Heists are the best part.

Game is too good.

so far played 13 missions in 11 hours. not done much exploring. trevor's just been unlocked

Trevor is the best damn character in gaming period.

there's reckoned to be about 100 hours of gameplay in it, I'd say that's roughly right if you are mainly focusing on missions and not doing loads and loads of exploring.

there seems to be only 6 heists though, and not all of them involve money so I'm a bit confused at how you make the sums required to buy a cinema and all that.

Stinky did you play the stock market at all? That is how I have made the majority of the money in game so far

I did a little but only on the missions were you're kinda rigging them. am I just meant to wait until a share drops really low then buy it and it will go up later?

not really got the hang of them so far, plus I screwed up my first heist in the planning stages and so the take was low, franklin's been reasonably short on cash the whole game so whenever I've dabbled my returns are reasonably low (me spending most of my money on modding the vehicles and clothes isn't helping.)

Perhaps I spoke too soon. I've only done a few missions and invested in the market when advised to do so as you mentioned.

and yes, modding the cars is awesome. So glad they included monster trucks this time

there's a couple of "random events" missions that give you stock tips too, you need to be logged into to use the stock market though and my internet was down at the time so I didn't really see what would have happened.

it's the clothes I'm loving, I played the first third or so of the game with franklin kicking around in baggy t-shirts and jeans, as it's gone on and he's getting more into organised crime he's getting a more refined wardrobe, kicking about in suede jackets and aviator.

going to probably have to shell out for an xbox gold membership for the first time, the game is too good to miss out on all that online content.

I hope there is a bit more structure to the online than IV, which felt like chaos

it sounds really ambitious. my only gripe is I'd really just rather play them solo, I've never bothered with the online side of gaming, largely because the Xbox gold membership costs money but also because most online gamers are annoying, so I don't have any online friends to play along with.

blaster, it is, it pretty much redefines what you think is possible for a game. I have gripes with it, but only because it's pushed through all previous expectations I had for a computer game and I find myself actually dreaming of a massive world where everything is possible.

it blows everything before it out the water, it's huge, it's beautiful, not every mission, but most, are amazingly well designed with the setups getting you excited and then huge set pieces with loads of cinematic moments going on for the pay-off, and the 3 character thing, which I was initially not fussed about, adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay. you find yourself playing loosely in character because the 3 leads would interact with the world in different ways.
