GTA V

because the 60s are lame when it comes to guns and cars (at least English ones)

might have to check this Kray thing out, you seem to be all about it.

For the last time: the gun rules were bent in GTA London, so any GTA game set in London would do the same. ;)

You might think the UK is 'soft', but East End gangsters are some of the last people on the planet you want to mess around with.

I meant that guns in the 60s were lame. Unless you mean bending the rule and allowing modern day assault rifles in a game set in the 60s but that makes no sense either.

There were machineguns, rifles, sniper rifles, pistols and so on in the 60s, just as there are now. ;)

lol

I guess when you don't know anything about guns and view them as generic categories that is fine. But not for me

Basically, there is already a game called Mafia which attempted to do GTA before guns and cars were interesting.

The end result was a game that some of the fans loved, but that critics found tediously dull as no cars went over 50mph and all the guns are like potato shooters.

It would need some artistic license like the wild west games do. Guns were like lotteries back then :p

I did love REd Dead,

my favorite game of all time probably. Loved tying up people and leaving them on the train tracks, then shooting them right before the train hit them, cause I am a merciful guy after all.

Mafia didn't have a taxi system, so you were forced to drive to each mission, which is quite annoying.

Quite enjoyed the hunting element. Just trying to find all the animals and kill enough of them was nice way to pass some time.

Red Dead Redemption will always be my favorite Rockstar game, it was done so well, the story, the look of it, just brilliant.

really busted my chops that they never released it on PC

Yeah, I'm amazed actually - Rockstar games usually turn up on the PC sooner or later - maybe there's still hope. :)

It didn't have the freedom of GTA though - it was rather linear, even though set in an 'open' city. Great game though. Dunno what those critics were on about either, quite a few cars topped 50mph in Mafia.

You guys ever play the True Crime series?

What I liked about those is that the cities were real down to the street signs. You could literally get Google map directions and follow them in game for NYC and LA

Red dead redemption and undead nightmare are my favourite games , they relate to gta 4 . I hope gta 5 releases soon .

I played True Crime LA a bit - it was OK, but no GTA. Didn't like the driving. That guy who says 'oh diggity damn, I've gotta go' was funny.

Sorry, but now I have to pull you up on that.

Anyone who calls these cars lame has no soul:

All of them are gorgeous machines that are the complete opposite of lame.

There's no point getting into a bickering session over US 1960 cars vs UK ones - it'll be like Top Gear USA meeting Top Gear UK: I'll go for mine, you'll go for yours. ;) Those who played GTA London though - just imagine that revisited with modern technology!
