Ive finished it(A few hours ago),i think that it's a real possibilty.look lets all have a robust debate, about this.Snape did make the Unbreakable Vow,which could be the reason he did kill DD,he definetely didn't know what Malfoy was up too.At the end of the book DD's supposed reason for trusting Snape was that he showed real remorse, after James and Liliy potter died(on his information),what i say is "You go on about your superior brain power DD,but how could you possibly believe that load of crock!"-There must be another reason, there must be.
Also at the end of the book-I was very supprised at my own reaction to the end of the book,i felt fairly emotional, and a bit angry that he wasn't going back to school(and that he broke up with Ginny),because school brings up so many trivial things which make the books a lot more enjoyable.

Some people may not like a few chapters being spent on people 'Snogging',but personally i love it!I wanted Ron with hermione, harry with ginny, and was supprised that my prediction of Tonks/Lupin,came pretty much right.
It seemed at the end that ron and hermione will hook up,which is great, and as i've mentioned before i'm a bit disappointed that harry is ditching Ginny,I mean he likes her, right,so maybe they'll hook up in the end.
Who loved the Ginny/Ron fight, about how Ron hadn't 'snogged' anybody, while everybody else was was doing it,and it was so funny how he got all angry about hermione 'snogging' Victor Krum(thats nearly Pheadophilia, right?),so obvious! And you'd think Hermione would be able to keep her composure a bit better, she was nearly as obvious as Ron,and thats saying something.

Back to Malfoy i think-Who'd think he had the brains,i mean he's not that great,he never seems to do as well as harry, and harry is just an average student.Rather ingenious(even DD thought so)! What are people's view on all the things i've posted here, and your favourite parts of the book. And of course any thing you think we should discuss.
It was a great book, sad, funny, happy, and angry are just some of the emotions i felt as i was reading this book(supprisingly i don't feel as much anticapation, afte reading the latter parts of the book). All in all,it is a wonderful read, and i recommend it to anybody. It is the best of the series, and has (as Colin mentioned earlier)set up the seventh book nicely!
Good bye and good reading!

Just finished....
sad end for dumbeldore...
but as barmyarmy pointed out he might have been pleading for his death...why though?

Well but if snape is really on voldemort's side then he is quite a good dueler.
The excellent duel between harry and snape when snape tries to escape.
impressive though -the half blood prince
really loved the book.

any guesse for RAB?
Well i side with barmyarmy...Regalus Black but "A" ?

by the way i have a few questions as well?
1. will hogwarts reopen and will harry go back?
2. what happened to sirius's motorbike?
3. why did dumbeldore trust snape?

Well I've just finished my second read through (hey I had a free weekend) and I have some unanswered questions too.
Why did Dumbledore prevent Harry from tackling who was coming up the stairs and immobilise him?
Could RAB have removed other horcruxes?
How on earth is Harry meant to find the other horcruxes and then defeat Voldemort when he couldn't 'feel' the magic like Dumbledore and was completely unable to cause Snape any problems when dueling him?

well...if you visit potter fansites you'll obviuosly find that ppl are stemming with rage over the death of albus dumbeldore by snape.

but i did come across some unanswered questions...
1.regarding snape, does he hold some considerable amount of key information.he does and he might most probably help harry in the final stages.JKR has said that snape wont die until he has redeemed himself in the reader's eye.
DD'd death -it must have been planned out by DD and snape....

whatis the significance of the the 'half blood prince '

2. If RAB is indeed Regalus Alphard Black which i just found out then one of the horcruxes is indeed in Grimmauld Place. Do you remeber the locket which theycould'nt open? It must be the very same indeed.I have a very strong reason to belive it was regalus,if not then it might have been some Death eater as it is only his people who call him the 'dark lord'. He also mentions in his letter
'I may be dead whne you get this'...maybe he was killed coz LV found out who destroyed his horcrux or maybe there is a faint chance that he is alive. Can't wait to get my hands on book 7 which may be titled 'HP and the final war'

Where did you get the middle name 'Alphard' from? I know he had an Uncle Alphard but I don't think Regalus's name has been explicitly given to us.

it hasn't been
but its something with the first names.
These wizards dont use the name of their father

For e'g Ron Weasley is better known as
Ronald "Bilius" Weasley
i read it on a fansite for HP(mugglenet forums)

Snape is a very accomplished wizard,so you mjust give harry some lea-way.Maybe love is what will win harry the day,Voldemort hates it and so do all the death eaters.I definetely dumbledore should have done some proper lessons with him(not that the ones he had weren't very vauable),taught him some of his unique magic.I'm very impreesed with your theory Iceman,i hope it's right.

i'm pretty sure that DD's death was well planned out by himself and snape.
Why on earth did DD plead to severus
"severus.........please......."

whats that supposed to mean?
anyways every reader will feel a pang of emotion after reading the half blood prince.

I have also come to my wildest guess ever.
Have snape and dumbeldore destroyed the horcruxes number 3 & 4?
I feel they have trapped the horcruxes in dumbeldore's body and thats why he was killed....maybe..

Well,it's possible. But wouldn't have DD made some indication to Snape that harry was under th invisibility cloak,to help him.And anyway, just for arguments sake, why did Snape run off with Malfoy?

Forget him running off with malfoy at the moment,
why did he not finish off harry during his duel with him at the end?
this just proves that he's still on DD's side.

I predicted right!Dumbledore does indeed die.

I like the theory that Snape and DD had planned it out...but it seems quite absurd that DD was pleading for his death....

Anyway,I feel I read far too quickly lol ;),so I've just started re-reading it. :p

I'll post my views on the book tomorrow(when hopefullly I'd have finished it :p)

I'm also glad that JK Rowling has given up writing 'angry angsty Harry' and is back to writing the Harry I recognise from books 1-4.

I'm glad too.I couldn't stand him in Book 5!

I'm reading a lot of support for Snape on the HP forums I frequent. Many people seem to believe that Snape was making a supreme act of bravery by killing Dumbledore, the only man who believed in him. They also point to the fact that Snape prevented the other Death Eaters from attacking Harry and tried to school him in dueling as he left.
This could be a plan hatched by Snape and DD to prove his loyalty to Voldemort. My theory is that it will actually be Snape who ends up helping Harry kill Voldemort in Book 7 as we have seen that he has far greater powers than we previously suspected and will yet, I believe, redeem himself.
Incidentally the Harry's scar is a Horcrux rumour is also gathering pace. Just think 2/3 more years of this...

Great, two more years for harry/hermione fans to think up another ludicrous reason why they will be together.Incidentally, did anyone read the article by the guy who runs a hermionepotter website(He's closing it down, and he went sick at JK)?Remember that Snape said they(de's)should leave harry to voldie. It does look like snape really hated dd when he kills him,so that puts alot of doubt in my mind, plus the when he and Narcissa make the unbreakable Vow.hat doesn't make him look great either.
