How are you doing in ICC? (any version)

Finished my 2043 season as Surrey. Won 3 titles :thumbs but lost the Pro-League. :mad In fact, could've won it as well but a tied game against Hants and a loss to Worcester itself in the decider spoilt my chances. :mad

The notable thing here is, in the past 2 seasons my team has not lost any CC game.....32 matches....undefeated...on the trott.... :cheers

For the new season:D, in came Indian opener D.Singh ; Pakistan offie I.Gul ; Glamorgan tear-away paceman Harry Lee & youth keeper Simon Wilde.

bah....:mad Just in the above post I had proudly said that for the past 2 seasons my team has remained undefeated in CC.....BUT....
but first match of my 2044 season....lost to Derbys who have just got promoted.....:noway :noway

I started a game with Durham (because they have the highest base salary), and skipped three seasons (hence why all their FC averages are so low compared to their 2nd team averages), and this is the squad I've come up with:

T Ewing is an England regular, and he's now ranked third in the world in test match batting. G Keller, Morgan, Collingwood, Onions and Plunkett have all also played for England over the last year or so.

RtD was released after the first season so I managed to sign him for over 100k, but for some reason he retired after the second season along with Blackwell, and since then I haven't been able to find a half decent domestic all-rounder. Collingwood couldn't make my number one XI last season because he's like 36/37, so I had to sign a couple of international all-rounders.

Well I've been able to buy everyone I've wanted anyway, except I think maybe one player in season one. And obviously I'd have Watson instead of one of those two if I had any extra 50k.

The biggest limitation I find is you're only allowed to place three bids in each round, which is annoying if there's a couple of solid domestic players and a couple of youth team guns.

Finished my fourth season with Durham, I played some of the matches this season. Got 2nd in the CT, QF in the T20, and had to win my last CC game to get promotion to CC division one, but drew it, so finished 5th (technically 14th).

Here's my season five squad. Ewing, Keller, Tetley, Bulman, Morgan, Bell, Serasinghe, Wells, and Woakes all played international cricket last season.

I shot myself in the foot a bit regarding the balance, because I already had seven bowlers, but I wanted to sign Woakes, and that meant I couldn't sign any domestic all-rounders/another batsmen. Last season at any one time the I had a maximum of three batsmen away on international duty, so if that happens this season hopefully I'll have no injuries batting wise or I'll be screwed. And hopefully one of my two all-rounders is always available, or I'll have to play Woakes at seven.

Ok, just downloaded the trial for ICC11. Not sure whether I'll buy it yet but I'll see how it is. Being Australia, with Hauritz injured, I have no spinners to choose from although I did go with Steven Smith for the sake of it. So my ODI squad for the tour with Bangladesh. I'm purposely not playing Ponting or Clarke.

Michael Hussey (C)
David Hussey
Cameron White
Adam Voges
Shaun Marsh
Callum Ferguson

Brad Haddin

Shane Watson (VC)
Mitchell Johnson
John Hastings
Steven Smith

Clint McKay
Doug Bollinger
Ryan Harris
Ben Hilfenhaus

----------

I think I'll be playing Smith in the proper series :p In the warmup match, we were in trouble at 3/41 and then 4/67 when Watson got out for 50 but Dave Hussey and Brad Haddin put on a 156 run partnership before Dussey got out for 84 but Haddin went on to finish 125* while Smith smashed 52* off 38 as we made 325/5. Smith led the way with the ball taking 5/33 from 5 overs, while Bollinger took 3/24 and Harris 2/19 as we bowled them out for 113.

Lineup for first ODI:

1. Shane Watson
2. Brad Haddin+
3. Shaun Marsh
4. Michael Hussey*
5. Dave Hussey
6. Cameron White
7. Steven Smith
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Clint McKay
10. Ryan Harris
11. Doug Bollinger

I'll let Watto and Haddin open the batting this time despite Marsh being a specialist opening batsman :p

----------

Well I just dominated Bangladesh in the first ODI. Smashed 359/6 in our innings, Watson leading the way with 150 off 119 balls, while Haddin was great at the top of the order with 46 and Marsh showed why he was in the squad, scoring 79 off 65 balls, before Mike Hussey made 31 off 24, White 1 off 3, Dussey finished 20* off 15 deliveries, Smith made a quick 12 and Johnson made 13* off 8, before Smith ripped through Bangladesh's lineup to take 7/35 off 6.1 overs, while Harris took 3/58 off 9, the rest of the bowlers pretty disappointing.

just bought ICC2011 yesterday after getting addicted to the demo playing it for long periods. it's sad how players retire to early though, i was playing as NZ and vettori and martin both retired straight after the home series against south africa... which in my opinion was way too early, for vettori anyways.

now my main spinner is ronnie hira :p, who's doing a pretty good job though.

Well we won the series 2-1 after losing our final game.

The second match was a very comfortable victory, restricting them to 212/9 thanks to some great all-round bowling, Bollinger 3/35 (10), Harris 2/37 (10), Hastings 2/41 (10) and Smith 2/39 (10) with only Johnson 0/37 (8) and Watson 0/23 (2) going wicketless.

We just cruised to victory from there, Marsh leading the way yet again with 79 while Watson made 63 and Hussey made 31 and Voges 30* at the end.

We didn't bowl too well in our final game apart from Smith who took 4/50 from his 10 overs while Bollinger took 2/57 and Watson was the only other player who had decent figures but much was thanks to 3 wickets in his second last over of the match, taking 3/48 from 7. They made 303/9 in the end, which was going to be very tough to chase down. Marsh was the player to lead the way yet again with 72 but he didn't get much support, with Watson the only other player to score above 30 with 34, while Dussey made 22 but we were bowled out for 211.

Steven Smith was named Player of The Tournament, taking 13 wickets @ 9.54 with an ER of 4.74 while Watson and Marsh were the best batsman of the series with 247 runs @ 82.33 and 230 runs @ 76.67 although Watson did score the huge 150 in the first ODI while Marsh was very consistent with scores of 79, 79 and 72.

Use Todd Astle, he carves up for me.

Might make a NZ rating list if I get bored enough. Still got HEAPs of things I need to get done though, and this would be how I procrastinate

ICC 2011 is tempting me, even though I've never bought an ICC game since 2005 Ashes Edition. I actually only started playing ICC 2005 AE properly again this summer after leaving it for 3/4 years (that's real life years, not Cricket Captain years).

I resumed the Middlesex saved game I had all those years ago, and finished one season (2008, the 4th season). Decent season, promotion in the CC plus one piece of silverware - the Challenge Trophy. Also, I've signed Daniel Vettori for next season, after 2 seasons without an overseas player. New Zealand Cricket have discarded him from all forms of international cricket for some reason - weird.

I think I'll download the trial for ICC 2011.

Decided to go back to ICC 2010. Started off with Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup and got out in the Super 8. Then came the English Tour. The tour game against MCC ended in a draw after we declared at 600-odd and they followed on in the second innings but played very well for the draw.
In the first test against England, Raqibul and Shakib got brilliant centuries to take me to 520/8 declared.

England, led by Strauss, batted way better than us and eventually got to 653/4 declared. The most concerning part of the bowling was my pace department, who got no wickets and their economy rates were all above 3.50.

ICC 2006 -

Finished my 2044 season as Surrey. Yet again, won 3 titles, lost 1. Retained the County Championship & Challenge Trophy. Regained the Pro-League which I had lost 2 seasons back. However, couldnt retain the 20 Over Cup. :noway

For the new season :D in came Essex opener John Gow ; Hampshire batsman Timothey Green ; Kent paceman Nicholas McBain.

County Championship

The 1st ODI was a tense encounter between Bangladesh and England, but England managed to sneak home to a last ball victory thanks to a Graeme Swann cameo.

We wanted to take revenge in the 2nd ODI and in the end, we won the 2nd ODI by 42 runs. Shakib starred with both the bat and ball after he scored 63 and took 3 wickets and was rightly declared MOTM.

I'm playing at the minute on 2011 as New Zealand, who are absoloutely owning at Twenty20s at the moment. I'm also playing 2002 as England, and their batting lineup is enjoying the one-day games.
