How are you going in International Cricket 2010?

So I am playing a World Championship 50 Over ODI Thingy. I am the Dutch of course and just got bowled out by Scotland for 78!!!:) I still have to play South Africa and Australia in my group.....might not be going through this time!:p

I personally am loving this game. Have seen a few bug-ettes but generally I think it is a great game and is going to offer me at least much fun. Hope the on line gets sorted because it could be brilliant!

How long have you had the game? I felt that way when i first had it for a few days. But now ive played it alot, and i have to say it doesnt pull me back to play like AC09 did when that was first released. Im finding now even on hard i bowl teams out cheaply. I started a test against england playing as pakistan, and at lunch england were 67/7! :facepalm
I know people will say to get more of a challenge turn hud off. But to me there is no fun giving away 40+ no balls every innings. Bowlingis again to easy, and for me, batting to hard!
I really looked forward to this release, but now its just standing with the other forgoten games in the cupboard.

P.S i know this will not be everyones view on the game, but im only giving my opinion, so anyone that strongly disagrees with me, please keep your unkind comments to yourself.

Yeah I have only just got the game so still have to find out how long it is going to be playable for.....the game I find that has had the post longevity for me has been Cricket 04....but you have to turn a blind eye to some graphical anomalies and shortcomings as in any game.......

I got ic2010 2 days ago. Been playing it a lot. Im happy with it, the batting is real hard so far and bowling is all over the place. The tail and middle batsmen are to easy to get out most of the time. Playing on normal for the last couple of days, going to hard soon. I played a t20 first, made 6 for 135. But lost badly, canada made the runs in 13.3 overs with only 1 wicket down but i droped 4 catches. then played a test, aus[me] vs eng. I batted first and made 150, its not easy at the start but within 10 overs i was ok. I made 167 in the second inn and did not play this time. Then i started the same test again and eng batted first, all out for 208 but i droped 4 catches. Kevin p made 103 not out but ran out of friends. Now im 4 for 135 of 30 overs.:banana2:banana2

I'm one of those who's been severely disappointed by IC10. Having heard good things about the offline Tests, had decided to give things a go the moment I had some time.

Got down to my first full test a few hours back. I chose to play as the West Indies, against England - which seems to have the strongest bowling rating in the game.

England won the toss and batted first.
Playing at Jo'burg
Overcast conditions
Hard, Minimal HUD & Action cam batting; Full HUD and broadcast cam bowling

Eng 1st Inn 196 all out in 50.1
Pietersen 78* (128)
Trott 57 (85)
Gayle 3/20 (7.1)
Roach 3/30 (10.0)

WI 1st Inn 141 all out in 22.2
Onions 5/44 (8.2)
Swann 2/26 (4.0)

England 2nd Inn 86 all out in 22.5
Gayle 9/50 (10.5)
Edwards 1/13 (6.0)

A freak dismissal by Edwards (Swann was given out bowled when the bowl seemed to just touch the stumps but neither bail fell) seemingly denied Gayle 10 wickets in an innings. I have a video of the replay of that dismissal that I'm happy to upload to a non Youtube option if anyone would like to educate me.

Not sure why Gayle has been so effective on a Day 1 / Day 2 pitch, but the AI has basically found him unplayable. I only bowled 7 overs with him in the first innings but quickly realized the AI is going to struggle against good spin bowling.

Detailed impressions to follow; for now lets see how I go in the 4th innings chasing 141.

Cruising at 90/2 on a tricky pitch after 27 overs. Then lose 3 wickets before lunch to spin to leave me 95/5. :(
England/Pakistan - test on hard - minimal HUD.

Testing my theory about slogging being too easy I used just 6-hit on overs 31 and 32 (two new batsmen) and scored 47 runs...

WI 2nd Inn 143/8 in 19.5

WI won by 2 Wickets. Match over in a day and a half.

I can understand why people say Tests are the best mode in IC10 offline. However, for me, due to the following issues, this mode is as broken as any other in this game. Due to the harder level of batting, it will produce some close results but there are still some fairly stupid things going on that are a major turn off for me personally.

- Its lesser than in ODIs and T20s, but even in this match whenever the AI was in a hole and needed to attack, its go to shot was the back foot slog to full pitched deliveries. What's worse, about 50% of the time it would play my bouncers off the front foot. Not only is half of AI's batting unrealistic, it is downright ugly.

This also affects Human batting. Sometimes when trying to play the on drive slightly square towards mid wicket, off the front foot, the game will take out this ugly Kapil Dev style Natraja pull shot.

- The AI would have won this match but for its over-cautious running. Don't understand what in the code tells the batsmen to turn back from more than halfway down the pitch.

- Of the AI's 18 fours in the first innings, only ONE was played along the ground; the rest were aerial strokes. A very high % for this format of the game. If a ball is over pitched and off-line, the AI is likely to loft it over the vacant cover region, rather than play it along the gound. Why?

The answer may lie in the fact that its easier, and more rewarding to take the riskier, aerial route rather than play sensible, normal cricket. I struggled in my first innings trying to play all along the ground till I found myself in a hole at some 80 odd for 7. My tailenders then found it easier to survive and score by slogging, compared to my top order batsmen trying to play proper cricketing strokes. Funny.

- I use broadcast cam when bowling, and action cam when batting. Broadcast cam, in comparison to Ashes 2009, seems to have some stuttering issues (even offline). Not sure if its just me or if anyone else has noticed this. For instance, there were a couple of times that Gayle beat the bat and the animations were anything but smooth.

If the Codies are planning on a patch, I hope they don't rush to fix the online disconection problem alone. There are some other issues that need their attention as well.

Lol... honest to god I was about to put up a post regarding the "Natraj" shot :) Any time I flick the ball towards mid-wicket/square leg off the front foot, my batsman plays the Natraj shot which Kapil himself would be proud of... I suspect Trickstar have a great Kapil fan amongst their midst :)

As for tailenders, I found it easier to score via advanced shots... in one of my test innings Zaheer Khan scored a 16 ball 37 and the great Ishant Sharma remained unbeaten on a 18 ball 48 :)

Don't know about others but I find this game more broken than AC09. The one thing which really annoys me is that you can't save the game and pick the other team when loading up the game. In AC09 you could do so, i.e., bat for both the teams but you can't do so in IC 10. Wonder why Trickstar did that :(

Have been so disappointed with the game that I actually got FIFA 10 world cup game. Didn't buy the game earlier as I though IC10 would keep me busy but within 2 weeks I am on to FIFA. For me this game has followed a familiar Codies trend - 2 step forward and one backwards. Codies came out with a decent BLIC 2005 and followed up with disastrous BLIC 2007. Then they came out with popularly acclaimed AC09 (due to online gameplay) and now they have taken a step back once again with IC10 - simply way too many bugs in the game and that too when the code-base for the game itself was patched AC09

I just don't understand how you guys get batsmen past 50 on Test matches on hard. I get well set batsmen edging behind defensive shots :doh

Surprizingly, and unfortunately, I didn't face too much trouble batting in IC10 using Action Cam (Hard, minimal HUD). Maybe the reason is I played Cricket 2007 using 'behind the batsman' perspective quite a lot and the timing in IC10 is similar to Cricket 2007.

Plus I don't play defensive shots at all and consciously try to be early while timing the shot rather than late. It's the late shots which carry to slips and wk, not the early ones. Other than that haven't done anything different and day before yesterday was able to score 600+ in a test inning (Tendulkar - 239) which was a cue that I should start playing FIFA world cup game :)

In Test cricket?

When you (yourself, not the batsman) have your eye in, play more attacking shots. It works for me, and I managed to take 28 off an over by doing that the other day.

I've defended the quicks and mediums a lot in the game and haven't (yet) faced any trouble with edging behind or to the slips. In fact, once in a while the AI will bowl an over full of yorkers that I basically defend back to the bowler. Have had plenty of edges on to my pads etc, but none that went to slip. Perhaps there's something to what cricket_online mentioned about playing early vs late. I find that when my timing is off, its usually because I played too early.

Spinners on the other hand are another story. I've lost many wickets defending to spinners - usually its the super-keeper that dives to timbaktoo and plucks it out of thin air.

I made 274 of 56.3 overs on normal in a test match. I was 6 for 170 but just like ashes 2009, when the ball is about 45 overs old and i have johnson in a can hit the ball for 4 and 6 a lot. He was one of my fav in ashes and i think trickstar love him. Also the ai still drop to many catches and ball to many no balls. I only had 12 no balls in 56 overs but that number should be cut in half again. I know everyone whats a patch for the problems in the game but the online problem is the most faulty. When that is fixed then i am hoping that trickstar release some kind of update for ashes in nov. If they fix the silly shots for 4 and 6 by the ai and the the wk catches, ai droping to many catches. Plus some other smaller bugs.ps have you guys seen the bug when batting in action cam, look at the fielders faces with the R2 button and you will see they talk to them selfs all the time. Its a funny one to :banana2see.:doh

Ive increased all batting stats evenly for the south african team by exactly 10%
