Update:
Windies 5/215 (Chanderpaul 53*) of 52 overs
Got bored of batting in test matches so I saved this and started a one dayer, and have just somewhat rekindled my initial love for this game:
Eng v Aus (me) at The Oval, Hard, overcast, cool conditions
Eng: 9/282 50 overs (Strauss 138*, Bresnan 42, Denley 40, Collingwood 32, Bollinger 3/43, Hauritiz 2/46, Tait 1/48)
Aus yet to bat
Begun the chase, I was cruising at 3/156 thinking that the game is too easy for batting, when I spectacularly collapsed to be all out for 202. Clarke top scored with 68.
Series level 1-1
Begun game 3 (haven't decided if I'm going to play 3 or 5 games) after I won the opening game by 5 runs in Cardiff.
Eng (AI) v Aus at Lords, beautiful clear, warm sunny day (D/N) Day 2 pitch.
Eng 284 off 49 overs (Collingwood 92, Strauss 48, Broad 38, Smith 3/66, Hopes 2/32)
Broad went nuts with a final wicket stand to get them to a competitive total.
Aus 5.0 overs 1/10 - slow start, Watson, easily the best player in the game, went in the first over leaving a delivery which swung in sharply.
I'm still playing my own 'rule' of not allowing the keeper to catch any knicks. The spinners still get realistic figures.
I use custom fields all the time, except not 'allowing' a short cover and short mid wicket. Setting fields and bowling to plans is what makes the game.
Wondering if I should self impose another 'rule' to not use the slog button except for overs 40-50 - this is because the AI continually sets attacking fields and its easy to go over the top. See how I go this innings.
ODI's are easily the best and most enjoyable format in the game. So much going on. Tests get quite boring and monotomous I think. And it sucks having to increase the opposition batting stats to get decent AI scores.
20-20's are very good. Realistic scores and competitive matches every time. Started an IPL last night playing as the Aces (Royal Challengers). Played on a 4th day pitch at Dhaka and got rolled for 105. AI chased it down losing 6 wickets in reply.
If Trickstar could patch the freakish wicketkeeper catches off spinners, fix the AI fields, and improve AI batting performances for tests then it would be a great game, I think.
