How are you going in International Cricket 2010?

Yes the Broad/Anderson slingy action is the easiest one to learn imo. If you like bowling try persevering with it as it is rewarding when you tie batsman down etc

Yes always bowl with no HUD, even for ODI's. Obviously more pressure as danger of free hits, but it keeps me on my toes :p

I always use custom fields, usually have fine leg up in the circle and have boundary riders on cover and square leg boundaries in first powerplay. Get third man in after that to stop unrealistic CPU shots in that area.

I have 2 house rules (Which yes you shouldn't need, but there you go)

1. do not have deep mid on or off. Either keep them up or on the boundary
2. Only have 1st slip for spinners. no 2nd or 3rd slips etc otherwise get unrealistic catches to good shots

This all helps in having more realistic experience imo

Bowling wise, yes I am fairly good (though to be fair only play with England who have good bowling stats - I should try with Canada and see if can restrict teams then )

Batting wise I am not so good, but I have bumped up all teams bowling stats to make them a challange

Shame no patch or follow up game really as this was good template to build from

Yeah, this is an awesome base. Codemasters could have at least tweaked some stats, fixed online and stopped late cuts going for 6 and this would be the ultimate cricket game Gameplay wise.

I wish codemasters could sell the games code to another developer for them to work on it. ie. Let big ant use it as a base.

Third man generally stops this happening (for me at least)

Yes would be a shame if this is last we see of this game code - PC will update you of course should we hear anything different :spy

Well I can only really stop it if I put in 2 third mans in. I find that is a big waste of fielders. I actually end up getting catches down there in limited over matches.

Really? I only need the one - a wide third man does the trick for me

There really is some good things hidden away in this game - most people probably know this but there are 3 ground sizes.

Lords, Melbourne have huge outfields so 6's are much harder to get

Most grounds then have average size outfields such as Edgbaston, Oval etc

Then some grounds have small outfields such as Harare and Port Elizabeth where keeping run rate down is really difficult

In my batting quest in test match, I got to 170-1 and scoring at 4.5 rpo comfortably, pinching loads of singles and when set scoring more quickly

I actually found it getting boring and couldn't see me getting out. This is with me bumping up all teams bowling attributes also (India's bowling rating is 87)

So I turned Batting HUD off thinking I could master it perhaps - WRONG. I lost 2 wickets quickly and couldn't anticipate quickly enough so had a rethink and introduced another house rule

I have always selected front/back foot selection before playing shot and as you know this reduces aiming wedge. However when set its sooooo easy to find the gaps.

So my house rule was not to pre determine foot selection and let CPU determine that for me. This appears to have 2 results

1) Timing appears to be slightly harder to get right (might just be my imagination) which is a good thing
2) The aiming wedge is a lot larger, and this combined with harder to get perfect timing means I am finding it harder to hit the gaps and also mis timing the ball more oftern.

End result is that I am about 304-7 off 75 overs and enjoying the challenge much more

Yeah, batting is like that, Sometimes I'll bat for ages with out even looking like getting out and then suddenly I lose a wicket and start a collapse. I'm sure it's because I keep batting like I would for a batsmen that is fearless and not a timid batsman who is new to the crease

Not much choices for armguards .

You rate a cricket game based on its range of armguards?

----------

Played a great ODI as Australia against Sri Lanka. Hard, Action cam, Minimal HUD, No stat editing.

They batted first and were dismissed in the 48th over for 330. After a slow start, Sangakkara (114) and Samaraweera (99) shared a massive partnership to take Sri Lanka to their mammoth total. Dilshan also chipped in a run a ball 43. Shaun Tait and David Hussey were the best of the Aussie bowlers, taking 2/37 and 3/33 respectively. With five over to go, Sri Lanka looked like they would score around 350 as they were only 7 down. However, David Hussey was introduced in to the attack. He took a wicket on each of the balls of his 5th over. This gave him his first ODI hat-trick.

In reply, Australia were in trouble early when Watson was run out for 2. However, a solid team performance that saw 3 quick fire fifties from Haddin, Mike Hussey and Dave Hussey ensured Australia chased down the total with 60 balls to spare. Kulasekara was the best of the Sri Lankan bowlers taking 2/52. Murali also bowled well, but was expensive, taking 2/78 from eight overs.

Here is the scorecard:

Yes I am :spy

Believe me there are many things about this game you will not like.
If you can give choices for bats,pads,gloves...why in the world leave armguards?

It would have been better if there were more choices. It looks ugly when playing with armguards with unwanted logos.
If there are not choices for it then there should be plain with no logo.
It looks like an F1 race driver.

I Just checked, there are actually quite a few armguards. There are 2 types, a codies type and a trickstar type. Of these 2 types there are 4 or 5 colours to choose from.

Yeah, I have been in touch with both Codies and EA about this and they say it is frustrating as they have everything else in place for both of their Next Generation cricket game releases including the revolutionary "BallFlow" and "Field-O-Matic" concepts but they just aren't getting satisfactory results on the arm-guards and feel they need to do some extensive testing before they are willing to release a high quality game without the essential ability to design ones own arm-guards.

EA tell me that they have being secretly working on a new concept that allows the user to have their own arm photographed and placed in the game with a range of designer arm-guards including Ray Ban, Tupperware, Gucci and Avon.

Peter Moore of EA has promised to keep me up to date on how things are going and although he understands peoples frustrations he said the wait will be well worth it and the range of jockstraps available in the game will catch everyone by surprise.
