Your Cricket I don't like the Emergency Room.

Ouch! Unlucky mate. I remember when I forgot my box once in a match, had to go in without one. Fortunately I survived (I only scored 8 though lol).

My mate was in the nets with the fastest bowler in our school with no box, got hit there, reached in and had blood coming out. He had to have an operation.

Maybe just the league you play in was crap, because the kids in my team are damn good at swing. Well, they CAN swing it, but have little control tbh. And thank you who said "what if you get a jaffer on middle swinging in", because thats exactly what i got hahah. Well it was a new ball, and it hadnt been used for 2-3 overs, it was the first ball used by that kid. It was in the nets too btw, I dont remember if I said that.

And yes, i did actually go to the emergency room haha. Needed to check if I hadn't done permanent damage.

Also, if you're the best player at spin in your club, and there are better players than you at facing swing, why bat at 3?

Actually my captain does the same thing to me. I'm an allrounder (but mostly quick bowler) who can bat at 8, cause I am capable of the occassional good innings. Whenever we lose 2 or 3 quick wickets in like the first over and a half, which happens WAY more often than it should, he sends me out because I don't get out easy. But on the other hand, I'm quite ████ at going for big shots hahah.

Its not the league mate, its the conditions which not only are against swing bowling but also discourage fast bowlers. Thus most of the fast bowlers rely on swing from early 4 or 5 overs and after that they rely on seam movement if they can extract. You said why i bat at three when i am best player of spin. Well, i am not complete crap at playing swing. It is just that i am not comfortable initially against swing(Who in the world is?). I also mentioned that i go at number three when there is a good opening partnership, else i come down the order.

I think predominant offside players are more susceptible to get a hit in the nuts than on side players. Coz a offside dominant player would look to push the ball into covers if it is on good length just on off stump(sometimes even from middle stump). Now if this ball swings in then the ball has a very good chance of going through the bat and pad towards nuts. However a on side player would try to hit this ball on the leg side. For that he has to cover the line of the ball so that he can pick it from off stump or middle stump and play on the on side. Thus even if ball swings in more than expected, it would hit thigh pad or miss the batsman. Thus most of the on side dominant player are safe.

P.S: I have started using nut guard.:happy:happy Some of the post gave me nightmares. Especially the one which says "there was Bloooood:noway:eek:!!!!"

Haha.

I always wear one, have been hit there by a quick before. The noise was crazy. I dare say, if I didn't have one, there is a chance I would have never had kids.

My friend (who is a slow bowler) broke a kids box once. How he did it, I don't know.

Considering your profile says you're 13, you're extremely young to have had kids!:p

I havent worn a box ever since i started playing club cricket. That is all going to be changed right now.

U-19s player in UAE? Sweet. Where do you play?

Haha yeah man, I live in Abu Dhabi. You're in Dubai? Do you play for YTCA or something?

Wow, I now need to vomit. Hahaha.

I'm a gully-cricket specialist :p Used to go for coaching, but don't play for any team or anything. Hope to play at college, so lets see. Might play you one day.

Gully-cricket? It's Hindi slang for Street-cricket. Backyard cricket. Played in a parking lot or empty areas with a taped up tennis ball and with bricks or traffic cones as stumps...

ah backyard cricket. Gotta love it! using wheelie bins as wickets makes it much more bowler friendly!

I play on sand, with old carpets covering it acting as a pitch. It's bowler friendly enough ;)
