I love Math! [For all math lovers]

Bit of a bump, but how would you express the following in algebra/equations?

Marion has twice the amount of Jack. Jack has what Matthew has minus 9. Between the three people, there is a total of £60.00. How much does each person get?

Many thanks.

Was that a homework assignment?

I guess the question is from facebook. There are certain groups in FB who post such questions and test other members...

A two-digit no. is such that the product of their digits is = 6
& when 9 is added to the number , the digits interchange their positions . Find the two-digit no.

I know what is the answer , but what are the steps to come to the conclusion ?

Let the one's didgit be x and the tens be y

ATP
X.Y = 6
10y+x+9=10x+y

Solve the equations and you will get the answer[DOUBLEPOST=1480833499][/DOUBLEPOST]

Let digits be a and b. The original number is thus 10a+b and the reversed number is 10b+a
If I say a number is 45, then I can write it as 4*10+5, extend the same logic above.

a*b=6
10a+b+9=10b+a which is same as saying a-b+1=0

Trial and error from here onwards (or solve a quadratic equation if you know how to), you get a=2 and b=3

A clock loses 10 minutes each hour.

If the clock is set correctly at noon, what time is it when it reads 3 PM ?
