I wanted to play one-dayers till September - Ganguly

I think that you are mistaking good for average. Tendulkar does not have a good arm on an international scale.
Tendulkar has one of the best arms in the Indian team, if not the best. Usually fast bowlers tend to have good arms, but in Pathan and Munaf we have two people with relatively weak arms. I think Tendulkar definitely has a stronger arm than you are giving him credit for; it is also the reason he fields in the outfield in the last 10 or so overs.

Gambhir is quick but error prone. Uthappa is also error prone, despite being athletic.
Yes--but their proneness to error is exponentially less than someone like Ganguly's.

And what about the batting argument?

Definately, but being better than Ganguly does not make you a good fielder.

I agree that Ganguly and Dravid should have been dropped in favour of youth. However, I do believe that Gambhir is not a good enough batsman in 50 over cricket to replace them. I have said that point enough though, I wanted to establish that I feel there are two separate reasons that he should not be in the ODI team.

I believe that Tendulkar's 'strong arm' is all relative to the weak arms of the whole team. However, I admit that I have not been keenly overserving Tendulkar's arm so cannot comment with full certainty.

Fair enough. My original argument was based around your post that claimed that using fielding to replace Ganguly was poor judgment. Gambhir is far better than Ganguly, even if he may be only decent internationally.

I believe you are not too impressed by Gautam Gambhir. From what i have seen,he certainly qualifes to play in ODI's and i strongly belive that he should also replace Jaffer in Tests.

Gautam Gambhir has more knowledge about fielding then Saurav Ganguly can have. Gambhir can dive, sprint(i dont think Dada knows its meaning), slide (which only dada can dream off) and also has good throwing arm.

Sachin Tendulkar and Bhajji have strongest arm in India and are also safest pairs of hands. Most of these days Sachin does not field in outfield so his arm does not gets noticed.

Yuvraj Singh is suffering from knee injury and that is reason why he is fielding at mid on or mid off. He might not be at his usual standards but is still handy in preventing sharp singles which everyone took at midon or midoff.

Robin and Rohit are brilliant in close in positions and I dont need to talk about them. Ishant Sharma is improving but still OK.

That leaves only Munaf Patel. Hes just hopeless. When he has bowled sixth bowl of his over you can easily count India is playing with 10 men on field. He is disaster.

Munaf is the worst.
And you should really correct that to the 4th over.Munaf will do well if he plays for India at the Hongkong Super Sixes
