Lol, don't jinx it yet... I'm predicting a draw in this match as England's first innings has already taken over a day and I think Australia will try and hang around.

The first over of the morning. Botham is bounced by Hogg and tries to pull, but is smacked in the face.

cricket20060205165248201th.jpg

Next ball he is bowled by a superb ball for 56, ending a nice innings for Botham. 240/5.

cricket20060205165321840ej.jpg

Next Alan Knott is caught in the covers. 241/6. This looks like the start of the collapse of the England innings.

cricket20060205165424321dm.jpg

Woolmer was looking good until this Hogg ball from around the wicket rapped him on the pads. Luckily he got a touch. 245/6.

cricket20060205165514170fs.jpg

There it is. 262/6. Woolmer couldn't go on and a brilliant catch is taken to remove him. He was just starting to look dangerous as well.

cricket20060205165546543ls.jpg

Alderman appeals for LBW. Luckily for Old he got a fine touch on it first. Old has some runs down on the board. 269/7.

cricket20060205165606159ww.jpg

Old is removed by a brilliant catch in the covers. 270/8.

cricket20060205165633530cs.jpg

Willis hits one straight to short-leg. 276/9.

cricket20060205165651763lh.jpg

Alderman takes a good catch off his own bowling to bring an excellent England innings to a close. We still have 20 mins before lunch, so there is still a good chance of a result.

AUSTRALIAN INNINGS 1

cricket20060205171050546oo.jpg

It's only the third over and Chris Old has already got a wicket. What a breakthrough for England...7/1.

cricket20060205171312646xv.jpg

The position at lunch. England still have a lead of 250 with 9 wickets to get.

cricket20060205171623507zq.jpg

Graeme Wood edges to slip. 91/2 and Australia need a solid innings rebuild.

cricket20060205171833349oo.jpg

Amazing catch by Tavare at first slip! Right up there with the Andrew Strauss diving catch in 2005! oops, that hasn't meant to have happened yet :p
99/3 and Australia are in trouble.

cricket20060205172107350sz.jpg

The position at tea. Australia have 165 runs to get and England 7 wickets.

cricket20060205172150909xr.jpg

Another amazing catch, this time by Alan Knott! First ball after tea, and 111/4 - Australia are in trouble now - England only need 6 wickets!

cricket20060205172450235dr.jpg

An LBW appeal, but relief for Australia as the umpire hears a fine touch. 117/4.

cricket20060205172852324sd.jpg

Another desperate appeal, but hit outside the line.

cricket20060205172948980zr.jpg

Oh dear, Alan Knott has failed to get his hands on that one, which bounced unexpectedly.

England bring on a spinner. On his 2nd ball, Embrurey gets a play and miss (no picture).

cricket20060205173137787qz.jpg

An LBW appeal, but it is turned down for reasons unknown to us. It was close though, according to Jonathon Agnew...

cricket20060205173342284zz.jpg

That's it for the day. Australia are fighting back after some early wickets, and now England have to work hard as they have to take 6 wickets for 90 runs, although seeing how the Aussies batted earlier, it is very possible.

What an exciting game of cricket this is turning out to be...All three results are still possible, although England seem to be more in control. Australia just need to get their heads down, get some runs and avoid getting out cheaply. England have to repeat their earlier success and establish a first innings lead.

Give me your views on the game...

Thanks all. Planet cricket was being a bit slow last night so I wasn't sure whether it had worked lol. Luckily it had and it did come out exactly as intended, although some of the pictures could have been better...

I don't know about a draw yet, it's still a bit early to predict... probably the most likely result. England are slightly more likely to win than Australia, despite a brave fight being put up by the Aussies.

What a great game, I have to say. It would be the centre of all attention were it to be happening now. Be back with Day 3 later, probably.

videos generally just make the reading process that little bit more complicated. i would just stick with screens and some detailed and correct typing.

Nooo, I just typed it all up with images, and then accidently pressed some bizarre key combination that closed Firefox. Silly me, I should have backed up all the text. Now I have to start all over again( apart from converting bmps to jpgs)!
Soz, I don't have enough time to do it again tonight. You will all have to wait, sorry.
Damn!

Surprise! I decided to have a go anyway, heres the Australian 1st innings, to be followed by England's first innings. Enjoy. Such a corker.

cricket20060206073722060un.jpg

Yallop has an LBW appeal truned down against him. 193/4.

cricket20060206073823159el.jpg

Old gets some awkward low bounce and Marsh plays-and-misses by miles.

(no image)

Yallop hits another four. Third of the over, it brings the 5th wicket partnership to 124. Australia are in a strong position

now...

cricket20060206074112924wk.jpg

England break the partnership! The change of bowler worked, and Hendrick bowls Yallop with his third ball. Yallop was beaten

by the pace (he was late on a kind of straight drive, even if it looks like he played a dodgy block in the pic :P ). 238/5.

(no image - soz)

Dyson edges to keeper for one of the most simplest catches you'll ever see. England are into the tail now, and the aussies

still trail by 32.

cricket20060206074543285nm.jpg

Lunch. Australia still need 13, and England need 4 wickets.

cricket20060206074652128ha.jpg

Willis gets another LBW appeal against Lillee. Not given - he nicked it.

cricket20060206074738265us.jpg

Lillee is gone - he nicks finely to keeper. 269/7, Australia trail by 7 with 3 wickets for England to take.

(no image)
England appeal for caught behind as the Aussies lead by 6 runs.

cricket20060206074957437kl.jpg

Willis again gets another LBW appeal against Lawson. It is another bat-pad, fortunetely for Australia.

cricket20060206075036318vn.jpg

Big breakthrough! Hendrick gets Marsh with a brilliant ball. Marsh hits it down point's throat. What an innings it has been

for Marsh, and the crowd stand to appreciate it. Australia 282/8. 6 runs ahead.

cricket20060206075222823rn.jpg

Hendrick shows Willis how to get the LBs as he successfully gets rid of Lawson.

cricket20060206075351253mc.jpg

That's the end of that. Alderman edges an Old ball (haha, see what I did there?) to keeper.

cricket20060206075655407ay.jpg

Australia lead by 27 runs, and how much it counts depends on how well they bowl.
