A fine 63 from opener Mathew Hayden was the differnace between these two sides , Ponting put the Indian`s into bat and good economical bowling at the start of the innings by Lee & McGrath forced India to up a gear which they made a mess of , Nathan Bracken destroyed the middle order taking Y.Singh(15) , Kaif (11) and Dhoni (7) , he finished with figures of 4-49 .
Australia started strong with Hayden & Gilchrist going after the Indian attack , and after India had taken a few of the wickets the damage had been done by Hayden`s 63 off 89 balls , a good patient knock ,Australia won with 5 overs to spare.
Group B match :England vs West Indies

A good patient 107 by Andrew Strauss saw England get off to winning ways in the first group B tie , the knock included 15x4 and 1x6 but got out trying to smack Corey Collymore over the top and finding a leading edge back to the bowler , Paul Collingwood hit an unbeaten 64 .
West Indies innings never took off until the 20th over when at 84-3 Ramneresh Sarwan started an onslaught ,he was aided by some big hitting by Bravo ,but both fell in the same over to the impressive Harmison ,no other of the Windies batsmen got comfortable at the crease after that and they fell 24 runs short of the target.
