ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Weird scenario, but I think NZ will go through since they have 1 win on hand and Australia have no wins. I think wins will acquire precedence over net run rate. I believe its in this order "points first; if not then head to head; if not, then number of wins; if not, then net run rate". I might be wrong, though.

The bottom line is that a team that has been "World Champions" 5 times might be out of a global event on a technicality and not ability. It says a LOT about the people that run cricket on this planet!

BTW- What I said is totally logical at the moment. It's hypothetical but not completely beyond the realms of possibility!

lol. I find it pretty funny that Australia has not even played two complete matches of cricket. But rather they would be in the same position more or less had both matches not been washed out. NZ would most likely beat Aus, and Aus would beat Bangladesh. But I think that the scheduling is not great. Around this time England gets a lot of rain, and many matches are already been affected by rain in the tournament. Even setting it in July would be better. There may even be a chance Australia can get knocked out, if New Zealand beats England and Bangladesh, and Australia lose to England, Australia are all but out. I think NZ's next few matches are crucial in terms of Australia making the playoffs, because even if NZ lose to England but beat Bangladesh, they still might come in, depending on the net run rate of the two teams, provided Australia beat England. There are too many scenarios, Bangladesh are all but out, their bowlers can't even make a dent in their opposition's batting lineup. I think it will be NZ losing to England but beating Bangladesh and Australia losing to England, which will all but come down to the net run rates.

No, if this happens, NZ in(3 points), Aus out (2 points).

Hope Edgbaston does not serve up a 3rd washout for Australia on June 10th. That was be howlarious and absolute nonsense! :lol:p

Champions trophy or heavy rain trophy..
England need this.

England is turning out to be one of the worst places to hold a high profile tournament. As bad as Sri Lanka. Terrible

Nothing worse for a cricket fan, than a washout

Just look at the buzz around the tournament. The Manchester tragedy had less bearing than the rain! Today, ENG vs NZ is not the talking point. It's whether we will get a game!

I love how some people are saying AUS would have lost the first and won the second, so 2 points is justified. Basically people are saying AUS losing 3 wickets and being all out is the same thing? Yes, NZ were ahead in the game but I find it really stupid when people say the result was a foregone conclusion. I really hope the last AUS game is a washout. I would totally love to see the ICC's defence either way-

1) Australia knocked out without losing a game-
2) Australia qualify without winning a game-

However, what these two Aussie washouts do is cancel each other out. Australia are at now where they would have been if the two games had gone through. They would`ve mostly lost to NZ and surely beaten BD. 1 win and 1 loss and that is exactly where they are now. Hope for no more washouts.

What an atrocious post. Basically you're saying that Smith, Maxwell and co. had no chance against NZ? You must be GOD!

Just saw GAME ON HAI after the AUS BAN game.. Looks like Doc and Latif might have a physical fight any second!

Latif is an idiot proper. He is now suggesting Misbah/Younus be recalled! Pakistan are too good! :lol:lol

Still better than 2 washouts since a win > a washout if points are equal :) and I still think we had a chance in that match (SMITH,Head,Maxwell)

I just voiced an opinion which also happens to be shared by the Australian captain. Calling it atrocious is a little too judgmental of you.
