ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Pretty decent game for India so far. To start off I was a little concerned when we put them into bat because I feel if we get them to chase, they might self destruct if our bowlers put them under pressure. That's how we have won against South Africa in 2015 WC and 2013 CT. However, they self destructed themselves even while batting first which was due to result of a very disciplined bowling and fielding performance from India.

Bhuvi and Bumrah started off really well in the first powerplay by not allowing their openers to get away to a good start even though we did not get a wicket. Ashwin's inclusion provided the wicket taking option that we were missing in the middle overs. Jadeja also becomes a different bowler when he bowls alongside Ashwin so it was good to see him do well. Hardik was a bit expensive to start off with but once he got that wicket of Du Plesis, he was pretty good afterwards.

It was important to get De Kock out before he went on to make a big score because he generally bats pretty well against India. Even though he wasn't looking as fluent today, he still managed to get a 50 which was worrying but it was a relief when Jadeja got him. I have noticed this before as well that when AB and Faf bats together, there is always a chance for a run out. The same thing we saw in our game against South Africa in WC 2015 when South Africa were going pretty well in the chase and they decided to taken an unnecessary run and gift India a wicket. I also agree with the fact that I haven't seen AB perform especially when he is under pressure or when his team really needs him at the big stage. Make no mistake he is an unbelievable player with great talent and determination but just seems to fade away on the big stage.

As I have said, we have batted decently so far. Dhawan has looked really positive since he came out to bat. Rohit got out to a horrible shot which wasn't good to watch. Kohli hasn't looked quite his best today as well. He has played a couple of great shots but he is still pushing hard at the ball outside the off stump and plays away from the body which is always risky when there is a bit of swing. Not much swing today so he is surviving but he really needs to work on that. Hopefully these two can carry on and finish it off.

Rabada and Morkel need to bowl more here. Its of no use keeping them for the end as currently its "all or bust" for South Africa. Bringing Tahir is only going to make Kohli more comfortable.

I agree. Rabada and Morkel have looked deadly today, so I also think it's best to bowl some bouncers and discomfort the batsmen. The other pacers (Morris and Phehlukwayo) haven't looked threatening at all since they've arrived in England. They are not good enough in terms of supporting Morkel and Rabada which is clearly letting them down. Even the other guy, Dwaine Pretorious hasn't been successful either. SA have to find other third pace option to support Morkel and Rabada.[DOUBLEPOST=1497192033][/DOUBLEPOST]
Maharaj should be playing.
He would've been smacked all over the ground. Aganist Indian batsmen, he wouldn't stand a chance.

Seeing the way India have batted, it is safe to say that South Africa have literally choked today. There is no demons on this wicket and it has looked a 280-300 wicket. Those silly brain fade run outs totally shifted the game and has made this so one-sided.

Before the tournament, people said it will be tough for Asian teams to do well. But now, we are going to have 3 Asian teams in the semis out of 4.

South Africa : The Greatest Chokers Ever :D
:cheers

So if India win today, will they play Bangladesh in the semis?

Yes. We will play Bangladesh on June 15th at Edgbaston. And if there is a washout there, we will progress to the final, having topped our group.

sl or pakistan won with a very biggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg margin.

Yeah ! They wouldn't want to face England , atleast in the semis . :p

But , all the Asian teams that participated will go through the semis , except one . (Not including rain here . You can't control nature.)

Most likely unless sl or pakistan won with a very biggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg margin.

India should massively boost their NRR today as I expect them to finish this game out probably by the 38th over itself (even earlier probably, seeing how Dhawan and Kohli are turning it on here). We already have a very healthy NRR over SL and Pakistan. And with today's potential huge NRR spike, I am seeing that either of SL or Pakistan will have to produce a win by an unrealistically mammoth margin to beat India's NRR and face Bangladesh in the semis.

I don't think whoever wins tommorow will win by a massive margin. Both SL and Pakistan's NRR are quite low. I am expecting Pakistan to win, but even they would be at 2nd place, and even if SL win, they would not get close to India's NRR, becase it will get a massive increase today.

It can happen or maybe not.
