Agree that it looks unfair. But that's a very rare case and you'll always find such exceptions no matter what.
Coming to today's match, if Pakistan does get to bat first and I'm the captain, my only message to the team would be to go all out. No matter how small the chance, show the world that you do really mean business. A consolation win might be good but even better would be to show intent to do the impossible.
Doesn't matter if you get bundled out for 150 in the process. I'd take that over winning but not qualifying. Try and get to 450. Easier said than done but give it a shot.
0-10 = 100 runs/2 wickets
10-20 = 70 runs/1 wicket
20-30 = 80 runs/1 wicket
30-50 = 200 runs a.k.a. T20 mode
Knowing the Pakistani media, I wouldn’t really go all guns blazing. It’s pretty much impossible to score 400-450, even the flattest pitches during this tournament couldn’t provide a score of 400 with teams like Australia and England playing on them. An embarrassing loss to Bangladesh trying to shoot for the moon would be even more hurtful and result in the media plus general public absolutely ripping them to shreds given the geopolitical history between them.
Sarfaraz is in a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation here. No matter what he says or does, he is bound to be criticized heavily and scapegoated. Personally, I believe Pakistan did quite well considering that they aren’t one of the stronger teams on paper. They were really unfortunate to play versus Windies in their first game. Had they played them on any other day, they would have won and had their game vs Sri Lanka happened that would be another extra point, not to mention the Kiwis being very fortunate to get a point from their encounter with India.
