On the topic of comparing between eras, if people rate the likes of Tendulkar and Lara over someone like Kohli or Smith because they proved it on the more bowler friendly pitches, then by the same logic the current bowlers are much better than the bowlers 10-20 years ago as they bowl mostly on pitches that barely support them and still have very good numbers!

This is why I would rate someone like Steyn as possibly the greatest fast bowler of all-time in tests, because his record stands upto the WI greats and he bowled mostly in this supposed ‘batsman friendly’ era with an outstanding record in India, a graveyard for pace bowlers few years ago.[DOUBLEPOST=1562245745][/DOUBLEPOST]I had my doubts over Pooran before the tournament just like Carey, but he has been another outstanding player and unlike Hetmyer, seems to have the composure to play a longer innings too if required.

Sachin Tendulkar is still miles ahead of both Kohli and Smith in terms of the abilities he possessed. I don't see any of them batting out the whole innings and go down fighting till the end to win the match for their respective teams which the Master Blaster did pretty well throughout his career.

Can't stop thinking that one six from Carlos Brathwaite could've changed the complexion of the entire tournament.

What went unnoticed was the fact that Boult took an outstading catch. Can we take a moment to appreciate him ? I am sure Pakistan will be really tough to beat in the upcoming WT20 in Australia next year in October.

Yeah West Indies should have won that match, Carlos Brathaite had a over to score like 6 runs so he should have just took it easy in the end but oh well I still blame Pakistan poor batting and mostly fielding for their downfall in this world cup.

Fair point made.

Before the WC I said Pakistan won't win the Cup and now you see them already eliminated. Back then you criticized my post but that is what exactly happened. Mark my words India would do a lot better in Semi-finals as compared to other ICC tournaments from 2014 to 2017. Also even if we go back again to Edgbaston to play England in the Semi-final you would see a different kind of performance from them as compared to the previous match. Again something to add, England wouldn't win this WC 7/10 times !!!

Back then I didn't know about the washout Pakistan faced against Sri Lanka, moreover for sure Pakistan played bad cricket against Australia, India, and Afghanistan and now paying the price of almost elimination. However, you are right I am definitely expecting a better performance from India against England if they met up in the Semi-Finals in the same way when I wasn't expecting their Win against England in the league match because India was almost through to Semis and they took the game little lightly and I don't want to talk about further to that topic, I have my own view and better If we stop that conversation.

Why I am saying that England chances of Winning World Cup? The reasons are solely not of merit rather than I have a question on many matches of this World Cup and I am surprised why it happened. so I could be wrong but that's what I feel. We can talk about it more after the World Cup.

On merit, I feel like Australia has a better chance than England, the Australian team is the most complete one, England takes up the pressure in crunch games while Indian Team is not the 2011 champions team anymore. India is heavily relying on Rohit and Virat, The losing of Shekar Dhawan is a huge blow and Kl Rahul doesn't seem to be a class ODI player so one bad day for Top 3 batsmen can ruin their chances. While in 2011, You got the supreme team and the deserving champions.

You haven’t got the point of my post. I’m not comparing the abilities of players across eras myself, just pointing out that it’s somewhat hypocritical to call batsmen from the previous era good because they played on tougher pitches for them and not acknowledge how much better current bowlers are in comparison to bowlers from the previous eras due to the batting friendly pitches these days.

I also disagree with Kohli and Smith not being able to play the kind of innings that would take their team home as Kohli is well known for his extremely good record in run chases.

For tomorrow's game, I am still optimistic if Pakistan wins the toss. It's looking like an impossible task with current form but we can't be 100% sure so here is my lineup for tomorrow's game against Bangladesh

1. Azam
2. Zaman
3. Haris Sohail
4. Hafeez
5. Asif Ali
6. Sarfraz
7. Imad Wasim
8. Wahab Riaz
9. Shadab Khan
10. Aamir
11. Hasnain

Afghanistan are 132/1 against West Indies which proves how bad Pakistan was against West Indies and also it shows how poor the West Indies team have been in this world cup.
it's Afghanistan game to lose now.

There is no way Pakistan can beat Bangladesh by 319 runs, unless Pakistan scores 500 then they will have a chance but Pakistan haven't even scored 400 yet so they might as well just play for pride.

I mean with team already being 5 wickets down and 100+ runs still to get with no reliable batsman at the other end. Tendulkar would've did that in atleast 50 matches or so

Back then I didn't know about the washout Pakistan faced against Sri Lanka

After all it's a part of the game. I remember Australia's match against Bangladesh was washed out in the previous edition of the WC and they did struggled against NZ though they still went incredibly close against them. And later they went to win the Cup. If Pakistan were that good even they too would've reached the Semi-final despite struggling at the start. And before making predictions I also keep in mind these factors and I did believe there will be a couple of wash outs. So there you are :thumbs

I should say get a better Captain
