There is no way Pakistan can beat Bangladesh by 319 runs, unless Pakistan scores 500 then they will have a chance but Pakistan haven't even scored 400 yet so they might as well just play for pride.

Before talking about the possibilities, it is the team who has to perform, I just watched Sarfraz's press conference and the body language wasn't looking that positive. I guess they have given up and that is the difference between a good and a bad captain

After all it's a part of the game. I remember Australia's match against Bangladesh was washed out in the previous edition of the WC and they did struggled against NZ though they still went incredibly close against them. And later they went to win the Cup. If Pakistan were that good even they too would've reached the Semi-final despite struggling at the start. And before making predictions I also keep in mind these factors and I did believe there will be a couple of wash outs. So there you are :thumbs

I should say get a better Captain

Captain thing comes later, we had our selection issues as well and we have been talking about this for the past two years, If Pakistan wins a good match tomorrow, as Pakistani fans thats still encouraging that we performed quite well after being number 8th in the points table and finishes off at number 5 and just got behind with Newzeland which is in worst form off-late.

On the topic of comparing between eras, if people rate the likes of Tendulkar and Lara over someone like Kohli or Smith because they proved it on the more bowler friendly pitches, then by the same logic the current bowlers are much better than the bowlers 10-20 years ago as they bowl mostly on pitches that barely support them and still have very good numbers!

This is why I would rate someone like Steyn as possibly the greatest fast bowler of all-time in tests, because his record stands upto the WI greats and he bowled mostly in this supposed ‘batsman friendly’ era with an outstanding record in India, a graveyard for pace bowlers few years ago.[DOUBLEPOST=1562245745][/DOUBLEPOST]I had my doubts over Pooran before the tournament just like Carey, but he has been another outstanding player and unlike Hetmyer, seems to have the composure to play a longer innings too if required.
If Kohli retired today I'd say he is the best ODI batsman of all time. His record is remarkable. He's had exactly half the number of innings as Tendulkar and is 8 behind in terms of centuries and almost 15 ahead in average.

Steyn's is definitely one the greats.

I think every captain would be resigned to defeat in this instance. It's not impossible but it's very, very, very, very unlikely.

Does it seem realistic to you to win by such a huge margin? Given the form of Bangladesh team, it seems highly unlikely that the Pak team will be able to achieve a victory that large unless some magic arises from the cricket tomorrow. Sometimes it's better to act realistic of one's chances especially considering the fact that Pak are virtually out of contention now. Given this, it's unfair to say that Sarfraz is a bad captain in this instance.

Sarfraz is still in denial mood, still defending the worst performance of Hasan Ali and Fakhar Zaman. As a player I still rate him much higher than Rizwan, He has a lot of capability as a batsman but as captain, he has disappointed a lot due to the favoritism he gave to his friends. As captain, we do not have much choice. It has to be very thoughtful after the World Cup. One thing for sure, we have to get rid of Inzy, Mickey Arthur and Azhar Mehmood.

The body language has to be positive before media and fans. The other team is also watching you, you got to be in a positive frame of mind before going into the match. It's about self-belief. His body language looked very disappointing which isn't a good strategy in my view.

3-4 years of bilateral series against top 8 nations on a regular basis and Afghanistan can be a team to watch out for during the next world cup.

Assuming that their board hasn’t ruined the promising crop of cricketers by then. After their recent actions, I have got no faith in them unless they change the ones in charge.

Yeah, i mean, you have to be a special kind of incompetent to change the captain just before the tournament, that too without any valid reason at all.
You wanna move on, go ahead, but at least do it after the current cycle concludes with the World Cup!

I think the guy responsible for that decision has been removed, unfortunately it looks like they'll probably lose Phil Simmons too.

They'll probably need to find some batsman, although their spinners will benefit from Indian pitches more than English ones. Experience against big teams which the ODI Super League should provide, as well as from this World Cup will help. I still think they'll probably end up needing to go through the qualifier.

Afghanistan had a lot of potential, they were very good against India, Pakistan and today against WI. They were unlucky not to win a single game which was not something I expected from them but in a 10 team WC where nearly every team played good cricket, they did just alright against the nine other major cricketing nations. They should focus on building a batting unit as that is where they lack skill and experience, their spinners as we all know are good enough. Few decent batsmen in their squad can win them games with their current team. Lastly they need experience, teams should play them more often. They should get more and more games.

I don'tNZ won by 1 wicket, but got +3.5 in NRR, while Australia got -3.5
Agree that it looks unfair. But that's a very rare case and you'll always find such exceptions no matter what.

Coming to today's match, if Pakistan does get to bat first and I'm the captain, my only message to the team would be to go all out. No matter how small the chance, show the world that you do really mean business. A consolation win might be good but even better would be to show intent to do the impossible.

Doesn't matter if you get bundled out for 150 in the process. I'd take that over winning but not qualifying. Try and get to 450. Easier said than done but give it a shot.

0-10 = 100 runs/2 wickets
10-20 = 70 runs/1 wicket
20-30 = 80 runs/1 wicket
30-50 = 200 runs a.k.a. T20 mode
