This is when Pakistan become dangerous. They almost always start this way. They got thrashed by India in the CT opener. They lost to a much weaker WI in the 2015 WC but then went on to beat SA!
I doubt it, they lost 11 ODI games back to back which includes Afghanistan.
This is the worst Pakistan have ever been in the history, I don't think Pakistan have ever lost 11 ODI games back before.

This side isn't the worse it's just that luck hasn't gone their way, but it was good to see Amir get some wickets :thumbs

I just hope India do not give me that shock (it would be hugely unpleasant for me if that happens)
I would be very, very surprised if India make it to the knockouts. The middle order is the one I'm worried about the most. One can't expect the top 3 to fire every game.

Even though we have a decent bowling attack, I feel it's the batsmen who will lose us matches more often than not.

Also, don't know why but I'm not getting a feeling that THE pinnacle event of the sport is in the runnning. Could be the missing excitement/hoopla/coverage of the event. Just doesn't feel like a WC event.

That's because England just isn't the place to be given an ICC event . The broadcast isn't as soothing when in England .

Australia , India & UAE are the ideal ones IMO . With Australia the boss .

Wow .. SL not even going to have a chance here on this green top

Williamson still sticks with the bowler that was smacked for a century by Gayle and co and look at the immediate impact he's had today. Henry has already run through the SL top order. Good to see continuity and faith shown by a captain in his players.

To be fair, Henry’s a much better bowler in ODIs in comparison to Southee and has been chronically mismanaged up until now for some reason. Wanted to write a long post regarding the questionable selections NZ Board and management has been making for sometime now.

Edit - even in that game, he had two catches dropped in his overs. Had they been held on, Henry’s figures might have been a lot better.

You are being too pessimistic with this thing. You aren't even seeing the performance of the team in last 15 months or so. And also the way KL Rahul batted in the warm-up is a big positive for us !!!

Bad start from Afghanistan. They need to play more patiently and use their feet well.
Sri Lanka also seemed to be playing a T20 except for Karunaratne.

Afghanistan are up against a quality pace attack today (perhaps the best in the world with Mitch Starc in form) and that could be a very positive signs for Australia throughout the tournament.

At this early stage I am predicting the Australins to defend the title and the lift the title for the Six the time might be the hosts England in the final or maybe India.

I too have this eerie feeling deep down that it will end up with Australia lifting the cup once again. Peaking at the right time

How boring that would be

Pakistan would've been out for 50 on a pitch like this :p
Would love to see how England do. They collapsed to 20-6 last year at Lord's on a greentop.
