Honestly believe Shaun would've performed better on this pitch against quality Afghan spinners. Shaun is a much better player of spin than Khawaja, even with the little spin the pitch is offering.

Thank you Rabada!

1) For some much needed drama. This tournament has been a snooze fest so far.

2) For having the balls to say it like it is unlike most of the world today that sugar coats everything.

3) For improving India's chances of winning the World Cup because if there is one cricketer in the world I don't want to give an added reason to perform, it's Virat Kohli. He absolutely loves the fighting and it gets the best out of him.

Australia could have sent Maxi instead of Smith in order to wrap up things quickly and get that marginal NRR boost that might prove crucial later on. A missed trick by Finch IMO
I think Finch preferred having Smith spend more time in the middle given that he has been out of it for over an year - sort of match practice.

I personally think it was a good idea. You would want your top order to get into a rhythm as soon as possible. Australia are showing signs that indicate that they needn't worry about the NRR at all so far.

I do not understand one thing and that is why the heck is India playing its first match after the tournament has already started 1 week prior? South Africa will play its third match against us whereas India plays its first?

Who the fearsome tweak did the scheduling?

By the time India play's its first game, all the other teams leaving Bangladesh would have played 2 games. Seriously tweaked up scheduling. Also on a Sunday when more people can come watch a match, they schedule just one match? Also India plays its opener on a WEDNESDAY wow! They could have easily scheduled India's opener on a weekend.

Also I agree, all the matches so far has been one sided.Would love to see a more balanced contest on Sunday between Bangladesh and South Africa. Mind says that South Africa will play better and will win the match but heart wants Bangladesh to win.

Also a good fightback from Afghanistan against a quality Australian lineup. From 77/5 to scoring 200 runs is a pretty decent fight. Other teams would have folded but the lower order showed determination.

Doesn't look like there will be much cricket played next week, apart from Monday the weather forecast is terrible.

India will begin their campaign a week after the start of the ICC’s pinnacle 50-over tournament following Lodha Commission’s recommendation which requires a 15-day window between the last IPL match and the first international fixture. As the final of IPL 2019 will be held on 19 May, the earliest India can play in the World Cup is on 5 June when they will go head to head with South Africa at Hampshire Bowl in Southampton.

On the India game - I think India might want to follow the proceedings and take stock as to their bowling combination. Maybe it'd not be a bad idea to play all 3 frontline seamers and play only one leggie. Considering how the tournament has progressed, Kumar's batting will be useful to have while the conditions could help his bowling and Shami will also do well if conditions help. Hardik as the 4th seamer with his batting will be good. If an extra spinner is needed, Jadhav can bowl off spin for 6-8 overs.

Rohit
Dhawan
Kohli
Rahul
MSD
Jadhav
Hardik
Bhuvi
Shami
Chahal/Kuldeep
Bumrah

WHAT? Holy crap! That is a recipe for a flop tournament. Already it has started off pretty bad and this will just worsen things x10. Can't blame the decision to give it to England though. They probably were scheduled to get it and it's supposed to be summer right now there.

Southampton on June 5 (India's first game) says Cloudy skies with just 10% precipitation. Hope we get a full match there without interruptions.

It's weird because he says Kohli can't take abuse. I don't think any normal person in their right frame of mind would take abuse from someone that they don't know. Banter is fine but abuse is absolutely no go. I think I have said this many times before that Kohli is India's version of Ricky Ponting. He will take absolutely no shit from anyone and will try to dominate the opponents whether he has a bat in his hand or while he is fielding. So calling him immature for that is a bit of a stretch.

The one thing that I dislike about Kohli that I have stated on this forum before as well are his send-offs. I absolutely hate it when he gives a send-off to opposition players because he is not just the player anymore, he is the captain of the Indian cricket team. That's one area where I want to see him improve but as with everything, I think it will be a gradual process rather than just turning that switch off.

Also India plays its opener on a WEDNESDAY wow! They could have easily scheduled India's opener on a weekend.

I don't think India needs to have its matches scheduled on weekends because they will anyways fetch the maximum crowd and viewership. Plus Wednesday is a national holiday in India I think (Eid), so expect as good a tv viewership as a weekend game

Did not know this, thanks for the info.

The 2-1 win against Australia - was this the same tour in which

Yes

SL - Not an ideal benchmark to compare

But again this proves the fact that we are better playing in different conditions then what other teams have.

In 2015 WC IMHO we had a mediocre team but that team still went on to the Semi-finals without any difficulty so we are amongst the teams who has the ability to play better Cricket in important tournaments

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the team rankings. They don't give the real pucture. If I'm not wrong, India were still holding the #1 position inspite of losing important series like SA and England.

But doing this for decade requires some consistency and in limited overs format the ranking shows a better picture than what it does in Test matches as they are bound to get affected quicker than in the longer formats. Also there are at most only 10-12 Tests being played each year while there are 25-30 ODIs per team per year. And more number of teams play in ODIs so again there is a better chance for it to change.
