Two batting beauties in two games, and both times the Asian team has gone on to defeat the opposing non-Asian team. Does this mean conditions are going to heavily dictate the progress of this WC?

England's lower order too is best in the business . The trio Moeen , Woakes & even Archer are very much capable of thrushing single handedly . As the tourney moves we would see some beatings through those three . Mind it !

This really is going to be one heck of a World Cup! What a match this, hats of to Pakistan. What a performance, incredible! They have shown England are not unbeatable. I just fear for India a bit more. I seriously feel we play too old school ODI cricket which can't win you many games in a tournament like this. Hopefully I am wrong!

We really need Rohit to find his old glorious form, where he would simply smash the bowlers apart mercilessly once he got his century. That and an inform Rahul plus Dhoni could help us score quickly!

Pakistan defeat England
Now I can say India can defeat any team in world cup.
I think only Australia is competitor.
:p
ICC CWC FINAL: INDIA Vs AUSTRALIA

There was something I said in the SA match for England, saying it now and I will say it again-

Buttler HAS TO bat 5 at the least. He is not a slogger. The more time he gets, the worse it gets for the opposition. I would understand this kind of line up if England lacked depth, but this team is 4/5 down when they are 6/7 down. They are effectively always 2 less wickets down. If Morgan has to bat 4, I get that. But 5 is the last for Jos Buttler. The other thing with their line up is that they lack flexibility (England). Moeen Ali is a fabulous player of spin and Stokes has been awful right through the IPL. I said it in the SA game as well that he just isn't there yet. So, England can use Moeen to bat ahead of Stokes even if the spinners are on. Stokes will as a result then come deeper, be more free and get to face pace bowling which is his strength.

Reminds me a lot of how DK always used to send Russell in late at 6 or 7, when he had the ability to bat at 4. Seeing today’s game, I tend to agree. Buttler should be at 5 for now given how scratchy Stokes has been in recent times compared to his usual self. The only time I’d send him later than 5 is if they collapse early on, as Buttler has usually been a part of such collapses.

I just like the post match press conference of Eoin Morgan. Although he didn't say anything but the press people tried their best to talk about the possible ball tempering.
One thing I also noted was that Umpires were extra strict on Pakistan. It was like they didn't want the fielders to even throw the ball.

I don't want to act as the sour curd on a good day for Pakistan. But, there is still lot of room for improvement. I think, their openers are fine. They generally kick on when they get to 50 and in general give decent starts. Babar Azam, has to convert. The day and age of a ton, or 50-60 at numbers 1,2,3 is long gone. Once you get to 50, you need to make it really count and make it big specially in a side like Pakistan because you have no idea which side of the bed the others have chosen to wake up from. Either, the others go for it around Azam (which I think is ideal) or he really catches the bull by the horns and goes big and long (less likely). I don't think Hafeez is still worth it at 4 but it won't change now. So I'll let it be. But, I would prefer Sarfaraz at 4, Malik at 5 and Asif Ali at 6 with Imad at 7 if they need to go big or Shadab followed by the 3 quicks.

Lets take a look at Sarfraz
- Moeen's catch missed
- Moeen could be stumped on the same ball but its Sarfraz again[DOUBLEPOST=1559594718][/DOUBLEPOST]Lessons from today's and yesterday's matches:-
1) this World Cup is going to be the most closely fought one
2) Spin is back in the equation. So are the Asian teams
3) chasing 350 in a bilateral series is different from chasing 350 in World Cup. It might be a high scoring WC, but not an absurd one
4) England is beatable; and Pakistan is well, Pakistan.
5) Experience pays - it was Sakib/Fizz yesterday, it was Amir/Wahab/Hafeez today

No because it was tigers, England being the lions...
I am sure the Sri Lankans will argue that they are the lions, while Bangladeshis will claim that they are the tigers :spy

Which team are you guys predicting as winner in today's game ?

AFG v SL

AFG should be in with a good chance to exploit a weak SL team, but historically SL have been exceptionally good against 'weaker' teams, but they did lose to Afg in the Asia cup last time
