I don't know if the ball makes much difference but the swing sure did. Aus inablitiy to play swing was exposed during the Ashes.

The ball did make a difference, the kookaburra ball that we use does not swing no where near as much as their balls, The ball was specifically designed to give England a better chance, just look at their home record of late.

Surely Ponting wasn't playing within the rules but not within the spirit of the game... ;)
It was the exact same thing Vaughan did against Clarke. It's worked both times as well, maybe the captains should think of doing it more often

Another thing is they definetly should drop Akhtar. He has been pathetic. He has the odd good spell but that's about it. I hope he is not selected for the super test either.

Well the other bowlers have been pathetic too. I agree he has bowled crap, but so have the other seamers. Flintoff has been the worse IMO. Gilchrist really tore him apart in the two matches. Pollock has not done anything special at all, while Kallis...I dont even want to say anything.

And all the Kallis fans out there, did you see the match on television? Did you see the way he ran Sangakkara out? Did you see the way he was always finding the fielders? Did you see him bring the run rate down almost single-handedly? Did you see him giving pies to the Australian batsmen when he was bowling? Just answer these small questions and you'll realise how important a role Kallis played in the loss to Australia.

ntinti needs to come in, and im excepting some debuts will play the 3rd ODI

Isn't funny how everyone on here thinks it's everyone elses fault for the losses except for the people that come from their country :p

Yeah heh. THis series seems worse for cricket then it is good at the moment.

Hopefully Flintoff plays no further part. His bowling and batting seems really lacklustre and jaded. I think as he said himself he needs a rest. I'm really fearing for England in the Pakistan tour at the moment.

I had a very hard think about all this, and I think Australia will win the test match.

The only reason why England beat us in the Ashes is that they were using there type of cricket ball which they can swing and they know how to swing it. Second the pitches were made to accomidate the swing. Now if the Cricket ball used was a non English ball and pitches were made fairly then I bet Australia would of won the Ahses. The the Ashes was down here we would win easily. England just use there home advantage well thats all, thats why flintoff has been getting his arse kicked when bowling down here, hardly and swing or seam movement.

Yawn Flintoff normally does the business everywhere he just doesnt look right with bat or ball, as he said before the spin merchants interfered "I couldn't think of anything worse, to be honest." when on about playing in the super series.

Interesting article.

I agree with you mate...
The World XI have lost the One Day series already,
so it's time for them to experiment, but being all the Pace Bowlers
have been performing badly, the big question is 'who would you replace?'

Catchya mate...

lol i dont think the ball has anything to do with winning a match

I will bet you any amount of money it does, the ones used in the Ashes swing way more than our balls down here in Australia. It was tested during the ashes series and shown on TV.

Would a ROW football team beat Brazil?

Fat chance.

A ROW football team would thrash Brasil 10-0. Infact I could name 1 that would rite know:

Shevchenko Drogba

Kewell Zidane Lampard Beckham

Maldini Nesta Ferdinand Puyol

Cech

SUBS: Buffon, Stam, Gerrard, Cahill, Viduka

A few Chelsea players in there cause they are the best. Goooo Chelsea. Also a few Aussies in there.
