Good bowling of MacGill and Warne.

This match could be over tomorrow.
The Aussies will be mindful though. They know they will have to bat through tomorrow, not to ensure a lead, but to ensure the pitch is nice and rough.

And that should be stumps for day 2

Aus 345 (90) & 1/66 (20)
W IX 190 (47.1)

world xi need to get about 3 quick wickets early on. I reckon gilchrist will be the key factor. Anybody notice how boaring hayden is to watch now. i know he wants to save his career but i still reckon he can still play some shots. i nearly fell asleep when he was batting. Anyway im going to watch the game tommorrow at the scg and hope it doesnt rain and the world xi would show some fight.

Does it matter if he's "boaring" as you spell it. It's a six day test, it's Day 2, he can be as boring as he likes

Dunno what match you're watching, but Hayden scored his 111 at a strikerate of 61 and hit 12 boundaries, which is the same number as Gilchrist hit in his innings of 94.

Aus could declare now and still win the game. I'm glad that Andrew Flintoff continues to stick it to his Aussie detractors (well mainly Jarryd actually). The rest of the team has been a bit of a waste of space though.

See that's what I was saying. Inzi can't bat well now. I think he should retire now and join sumo wrestling. ICC World XI 137/5 (32.1 ov) and in trouble.

Oh wow Dravid did so well!

Inzi is a great player when in touch, He is the type of batsman who can defend when needed and crush a bowler when needed. Sehwag looks like he only knew one shot!

I'm not patting Flintoff on the back for that batting performance. MacGill kept tossing it up to him and Flintoff knew the field wasn't getting pushed back for it. I'm sure most bowlers would accept a handful of big hits in exchange for a pretty big wicket and by sticking to the plan, MacGill won out. In my eyes that wasn't an attempt to keep the game going, it was just fleeting personal glory.

Well we could say the same about Gillys play as he plays in a similar way but we wont. Flintoff bowled great this morning (even though it was lower order batters bar Warne/Gilly)

Or maybe he thought the remainder of the team weren't going to hang around with him so he'd grab as many runs as possible while he could.

He had the new ball, it was moving well in the morning, he did his job well. Against better batsmen it would still have been difficult for them.

You can't say the same of Gilly because he is much better. It's also lot harder to get caught when you hit the ball along the ground. The point wasn't that in general Flintoff is a bad player, but there are safer ways to score runs and I'm sure Gilly would have been fairly content with 18 off an over.

Yeah maybe he thought that, but it's not like he tried to find out. Suffice to say, attempting six after six is not the best way to hang around.
