ICC World T20 Bangladesh 2014

terrific performance with the ball and its a combined effort:thumbs good to see the bowling unit clicking together

It will be India vs South Africa in the second semifinal at Mirpur, on April 4th. Rain is forecast for that day. Hope it doesnt happen. What happens if a semifinal is rained out? Well the Group topper go through. That'd be great:lol

Clinical performance from India in this tournament. The spinners, especially Mishra and Ashwin have made us look superb.

P.s: Loved Dhoni's comments to Jadeja (the bowler) behind the stumps, "Zara Dheere Daal de.... Ek Chakka kaake dhika..." (bowl it a little slow. Try to show me that you can get hit for a six"). :D Dhoni wants to finish this quickly and asks Jadeja to give it air.

Haha what a funny one... now he is saying "Bhag raina Bhag"

Of course they did not play often for the windies during the noted period, however I'm saying its not for any it was not for the reasons you stated that they preferred IPL over the national team or as you said Bravo preferred to play for Trinidad, IPL then West Indies.

Oh not for the reason I stated, then what exactly, err ... doctor ordered a change of climate for a year or two in April - May !!

Where is the factual statement of this so called Bravo comment? That's nonsense, since you bassically calling the Windies ODI captain a mercenary, which he clearly isn't.

Oh so that quote is what makes him a mercenary, but his actual conduct of actually playing for the IPL when WI required him and actually skipping WI matches to play in the IPL means nothing. Its only the quote that will make him a mercenary, his actual conduct will do nothing at all. You are taking the quote "Judge a man by what he does and not what he says" to new heights.

In the 2008-2010 period Bravo and Pollard's actual conduct in missing WI matches to play in the IPL is all the proof required and there for all to see. The quote, if I could find it, would have been a nice cherry on top, but even without it, they did, skip WI matches to play in the IPL, both him and Pollard, and not only skipped matches, but refused to sign a central contract with the WI board so as not to have issues playing in cash rich leagues. Quote or no quote this fact is undeniable. So they did prefer to play in the IPL for playing for WI. If in your book that makes them mercenaries then well so be it. However those facts above are undeniable and all the proof you need to know that they did prefer to play in the IPL over WI for whatever reasons.

Ha i'm very camn & I don't think finding those statements on the internet would be very hard at all. Such statements are readily available on cricinfo, I just found two on cricinfo to back up what I said.

Good being "camn" is good, now also try to be calm that will help this sink into your head. Its very simple really. So you found articles on cricinfo that say that Bravo and Pollard didn't actually ditch the WI team and go play in the IPL, and furthermore refused to sign, a central contract with the WI board so as not to hurt their chances to play in the cash rich leagues !!

Given the very dangerous and insulting accusations you are making about windies players - it is imperative you show some article to back it up.

Again, I am not making any accusations or whatever, and you need to calm down. For the last time, I am stating a FACT that between 2008 and 2010, Bravo and Pollard preferred to play in the IPL over WI. Their action of actually skipping WI series (specifically mentioned earlier) and turning out in their IPL far more firmly back that statement, than any article or quote cricinfo may or may not have.

Did they or did they not refuse to play for the WI and instead chose to turn out for their IPL sides - THEY DID.

Did they or did they not refuse to sign central contract with the WI board to play in the IPL hasslefree - THEY DID

Actions speak lounder than words fella, and indeed lounder than articles on cricinfo for sure. Now if in your book that makes them mercenaries, then well so be it.

Overall though, If you read that recent Gayle article I showed you, saying they "ditched" the west indies is a very insulting & degrading statement towards those windies players. And it shows you either don't understand or don't wish to understand the peculiar problems that the windies players, WIPA & WICB had in recent years.

Yes they had money issues and that is why players didn't want to sign those contracts and instead chose to play in richer leagues where they could earn more money. Its very simple again. What about that is not clear to you. They wanted to play where they could earn more money and that is what they did when they chose to play for IPL teams over WI. What about this part is not clear to you. WI board less money, IPL teams more money - where did Pollard and Bravo prefer to play - IPL !! So they preferred to play in the IPL over WI, which is what I have been saying all along. You just keep harping on some damn quote, and totally ignore the fact that they did actually play in the IPL over WI !! As if a quote will mean something more than their actual conduct and without the quote their actions amount to nothing.

Windies is one of the weaker financial boards in world cricket & their players especially after spending a large part of the early 2000s with regular players vs board issues with regards to money, which even say the entire team strike for the 2009 home series versus Bangladesh, they became very vulnerable to IPL contracts.

So not only are you agreeing that they for financial reasons preferred to play in the IPL, you are also telling me why and totally backing what I have been saying all along - That WIans take the IPL seriously and in the past have opted to play in the IPL over playing for the WI. And yet you are pretending as if we are both saying two different things !! We are both saying the same thing, Bravo and Pollard have in the past ditched WI for whatever reasons, (more money, or to fight of aliens or whatever) and instead opted to turn out for the IPL teams.

Now that things with the players, WICB & WIPA have eased, the WICB is now trying to schedule its home season so that it won't clash with IPL, so the players don't have to make the choice anymore between country or IPL.

I dont know WI are trying now, but GL to them in that, but what they are doing now has nothing to do with the statement that in the past Bravo and Pollard have preferred to turn out for the IPL sides instead of WI. You can argue till the cows come home, and keep trying to deflect it on a missing quote, but the facts are still the same. Bravo and Pollard refused to play for WI and instead chose to play for their IPL sides.

I am expecting another long post from you in reply, but save yourself the trouble and instead just save the time you would spend in the typing that long post and just take 5 minutes to look at facts. Real simple I will break it down for you.

Did Bravo and Pollard or did they not during 2008-2010 refuse to play for the WI and instead chose to turn out for their IPL sides - THEY DID.

Did they or did they not refuse to sign central contract with the WI board to play in the IPL hasslefree - THEY DID

Good now let is sink in and stop typing !!

What happened to Australia. They weren't even trying. Nice to see yuvi getting in to form.

Been a boring day of cricket, IMHO.

:facepalm Good lord AUS, the bowling did slightly better today - but the batting was absolutely abysmal. The entire top 7, except Hodge who ran out of partners, should be totally ashamed of themselves, WTF was that man! :mad

After such a brilliant few months vs ENG & S Africa - this T20 cup performance has been terrible, especially considering the quality in the squad.

This performance vs these three teams who had good spinners should alert Lehmann that AUS problems versus spin in recent years, is back to its 1990s level of ineptness & this needs to be corrected the next time AUS tours the sub continent for a test series.

All the good work AUS produced to win test in IND & SRI 2004, consecutive ODI series in India from 1998-2013 has completely been thrown out the window.

Another one sided game. The biggest positive for me today was Yuvraj coming back into form. He batted decently and I hope he continue to perform in the next game. His runs become even more important when Kohli gets out early. Well bowled by Ashwin and Mishra and Bhuvi.

Thanks Bangladesh for being such a nice host and providing us home conditions away from home :p

BTW, we did not drop a single catch today which also came as a surprise.

Good that Dhoni gave Ashwin a chance to get a 4-for in a T20, which is an achievement. He was superb with the ball today. Very happy to see Ash bowl like this. Hope he can replicate this in ODI's too, and more on non-responsive wickets.

Don't know who the second semifinalist from Group 1 would be, but as far as form, familiarity with conditions and the tendency of the semifinalist opposition to choke in crucial stages go:D, India should start as favorites to reach the final.

Thanks Bangladesh for being such a nice host and providing us home conditions away from home :p

WHAT??? We played the Asia Cup here just before this tournament and we didn't win it (when it was said we were better in ODI's than at T20's). The Indian spinners have just bowled very well this tournament and thats why we are in the position that we are. Don't put it all down to conditions.

Rohit's catch was brilliant. Especially the dive which he had to do in the end and how he positioned his hand to save ball from touching ground.

Ashwin hasn't even got a 4-fer in ODI's but he gets it in T20. Now I hope they don't get overconfident and get smashed in semi finals against South Africa.
