I honestly didn't care about this test match or this concept of the "World Test Championship". I know I am getting detached from this whole concept of international cricket and I just follow it for entertainment purposes now and only a few hours (as opposed to a time, when my emotions used to go on wild roller coasters based on India's results).

I am truly happy that NZ of all sides, won this match and get a title to boast of. They beat India fair and square on a neutral ground. And this is a team that spreads its feel good factor beyond its own people, and into the people of other countries as well.. You just gotta read Twitter for all the happiness that non-NZ audiences are reacting to NZ's victory. Also that comment from a commentator of this match which said "Good guys can finish first too" is a truly apt statement.

Ye dukh kahe khatam nahi hota?

Why doesn't the misery end?

After 2011(Prime age of passionate following started):

2011 WON
2012 Out in Super 8
2013 WON
2014 Final Lost
2015 Semi
2016 Semi
2017 Final Lost
2019 Semi
2021 Final Lost
How lucky you're not 4 years older and saw 2007 :lol

Since Imran Khan became PM of Pakistan, Pakistan never won a match against India :'(
Pakistan and India don't even play each other lol.
New Zealand deserve to win this after what happened in the World Cup final.
Well done to India for reaching the final.

India's batting continues to be rubbish in England. Can't see them doing any better in the England series.

Congratulations are in order for NZ! Thoroughly deserved that trophy after a clinical finish. Well done!
One at Ahmedabad for sure if India is hosting, either ball, we'll wrap that up in 3 days.
The concept does not attract audiences in India. If India doesn't reach the finals, no one would turn up for this game. BCCI would,in all probability not bid for the hosting of the WTC. Some reports doing the rounds that India is interested in hosting one 2025 CT, 2028 T20 and 2031 CWC.

The concept os this Championship was flawed from the beginning. It needs to be better structured and ought to be played once every 4 years as opposed to playing every 2 years.

Plenty to say about India's abject performance in a KO, but going to reserve that until later.

New Zealand have been my favourite team apart from India since the 2017 series. But sadly I have ended up supporting the opposition in both the Final because of stronger reasons to support them.

I felt good that New Zealand eventually went on to win this tournament.

I want to add something to this.

I have been supporting Indian Cricket for more than 10 years now. And like 8 years I have followed infact watched around 90% matches live. It doesn’t matter whatever I had been doing but I’ve grown up watching this team play so I had a sort of emotional attachment to this Indian side. Also I would add to this that over the last 5 years this side has been on a different level. Yes at times other team have performed better but this team has been consistent and are performing well irrespective of the conditions being competitive all throughout. So it rather hurts that everytime we go on to lose in the knockouts.

I know people would say the Indian team of late 90s & 2000s actually gave them better memories to cherish but it is because of majority of this forum belongs to that era. But similarly people of my age have followed Cricket after 2010s so they too have similar emotional attachment with that period. So it is not like we don’t appreciate that team but we equally want this team to be appreciated whenever they do well. So yes, making it to the WTC Final and losing it equally hurts as it did to the people in the past.

Lastly I would like to add, we Indian fans of this generation (post-2010s) enjoy every format of the game. We just want to see India play. So the craze for Test Cricket is as good as it is for T20 Cricket over here.

Michael Atherton was asking something about how much do we Indians love Test Cricket to Dinesh Karthik. So I have my answer in this post.

Hurting where it hurts the most:

Our two innings couldn't even match their 1-inning score. Shami/Ishtant/Bumrah/Umesh/Siraj are walking wickets. Once the 6th wicket falls, you know it's only a matter of 5-8 overs before the innings ends.
