End of Day 2. Pakistan 3/2 in 7 overs. Pathan 1/1, Ganguly 1/2

Ravi: What a start Pathan and Ganguly have given to this bowling effort from India.
Imran: Yes, I liked the way that lad Pathan, pushed himself to get more swing in the cool evening atmosphere. He was rewarded with the wicket of one of the heroes of Pakistani first innings - Imran Farhat. Farhat completely misjudged the length of the ball and the ball swung in to take the off stump.

Ravi: And it seems the Indian skipper has struck a magic note on his bowling. First ball of his first over in the second innings, he managed to get a snick from Salman Butt and Tendulkar caught a magnificent catch.

Imran: I think that the Indians have come out with a mindset that they cannot win by containing the Pakistani batsmen, so why not go all out for the wickets. The first 7 overs saw a bogged down Pakistani lineup against two fired up Indian bowlers and enthusiastic fielders making run-getting a tough task.

Ravi: Pakistani batsmen didn't have a clue of what was happening in those 7 overs. Only Inzamam was middling the ball, but even he was quite placid compared to his roaring form in the first innings.

Imran: There cannot be enough praise for the brilliant bowling by the Indian bowlers. They would be hoping to continue in the same vein tomorrow.

Lunch Day 3 - Pakistan -98/8 after 35 overs. Ganguly - 5/45

Geofferey: Pakistan's tall batting order fell like nine pins against some exceptional swing bowling from Ganguly who was well supported by Irfan Pathan.
Sunny: Yes, the first ball of the morning from Ganguly, lured Younis Khan forward and with a bat that hung outside the line of offstump, it was calling to get a snick. He did get it and Patel completed a good catch. Should do some good to his confidence.

Geofferey: Youhana, the other pivot of the batting lineup faced 14 balls before misjudging a Ganguly swinger. Lost his stumps to it.

Pakistan 13/4.
Sunny: Kamal edged Ganguly to be missed by the slip cordon and he scored his first boundary. But those were his only runs, as once again Pathan struck with a diligent line outside the offstump. Kamal was caught poking and Ganguly for a change had to catch one.

Pakistan 22/5.
Geofferey: Kamran Akmal came and gave edged thrice in the same over, but Ganguly wasn't lucky in that over and the slip cordon let them all through their hands. One such miss -

Sunny: Meanwhile Inzamam was growing in confidence and he slammed Ganguly for two boundaries in his next over to reach his fifty.

Geofferey: But the Prince of Kolkata came back the very next ball to uproot Inzamam's leg stump. The only Pakistani batsman who looked like getting them to the target fell to a mistimed leg glance. The Karachi crowd applauded the effort ruefully.


Sunny: Kamran Akmal tried to hang in there, but was not looking to score runs and he fell prodding to a delivery outside offstump. He became Ganguly's fifth victim of the innings.

Geofferey: And then Ganguly rested himself and Pathan for a while, bringing in the turbanator and Kumble. They both bowled extremely parsimonious spells but the way Kumble fooled Razzaq to take his leg stump was a splendid piece of leg spin bowling. Here we can see the gap left between the bat and the pad and the distance by which the ball missed both.

Sunny: In came Fazl-E-Akbar, yesterday's bowling hero, in a different role today. He looked more positive than most Pakistani batsmen ever tried to be. He stroked an intentful 27 while the senior partner Shoaib Mallik hung on for 2 runs off seemingly infinite no. of balls. Here we see Akbar, cutting Kumble for a boundary.

Geofferey: Pakistani scorecard was dominated by the two skippers - Ganguly's name featured in six wickets and Inzamam - the lone fighter for Pakistan.

Sunny: Indian bowling looked at its best today.

Geofferey: And Pakistani Batting card made an equally miserable reading.

Sunny: I think that still Pakistan are in with a very slim chance of making it through to the target. Provided Shoaib Mallik learns a few tips from his skipper's spider:

And from his present partner's exploits. Though it doesn't seem likely that Akbar with his happy go hitting can stay in there for long.

End of Match - Pakistan 127 all out. Inzamam 50. Ganguly 6/54

Harsha: What a fascinating test match it has been. Till very late yesterday, it seemed that India were the ones who are going to find it tough to win it. In a very short span of time they turned the tables on Pakistan.
Ravi: Yes I think that yesterday when they came out to bowl, they gave their hundred percent and in the end left Pakistan team and Karachi crowd dazed. After Lunch today on Day 3, Fazl-E-Akbar and Mallik looked like building a partnership. In fact they did manage to put on quite a few and this worried Saurav.

Harsha: So he brought himself back in the attack and reaped immediate results. Akbar slashed at a ball that he expected to seam away slowly but instead it held its line and landed in the offstump. Fazl-E-Akbar is puzzled:

Ravi: After that, Mallik tried to hit out but even he knew that with Sami at the other end, the rest 86 runs were hard to come by. They managed to put in 11 runs before Sami got unnecessarily run out.

Harsha: The final scorecard for Pakistan was a real sorry sight:

Ravi: And I am impressed by Ganguly's bowling. Excellent control of line and length and good handling of his bowlers too. 10/10 for him in this innings.

Harsha: So Pakistan's poor form in this international season continues. They showed an extremely good performance for three innings but couldn't take the pressure in the last. Wishing them more luck in the future matches and Congrats to India!
