Harsha: Welcome to the post lunch session of this Frizzel Test Match between India and Pakistan at Karachi. Considering the number of runs scored by India in the first session, despite them losing 5 wickets, in my view, the match is balanced.
Sunny: Yes it is. 282 runs in just one session of play is very good but it could have been better had they not lost those wickets. Here's Mallik to Karthik. He's giving him the charge. Oh and he's gone! Stumped by Akmal.
Harsha: The Indian batsmen seem to have taken a leaf out of the Japanese air force pilots. They are committing Hara Kiri. It was the third ball of the post lunch session and he needed to get his eye in. Instead of doing that he has thrown away his wicket. Gone for a duck!
Ravi: I think this lad Pathan has it in him to become a world class allrounder. He's timing is good and his sense of the situation also seems to be good. He's scored 16 off 16 balls but hasn't played a rash shot till now.
Imran: I think he's the one for the future. Here's Mallik bowling to Pathan. He's fooled him and the bails have been removed in a flash by Kamran Akmal. Harsha: For those of you who missed the WWII videos on Discovery, Indian batsmen have shown how the Japs must have committed Hara Kiri. On a more serious note, they should be disappointed becoz they have scored a far less total than what they could have, they have given more than ample time to Pakistan to chase it and put on a lead and they have a let go of that one batting point by not being able to take the score past 400.
Ravi: Yes they should be disappointed. But there's one man down there who must be beaming like hell. Shoaib Mallik delivered the dream spell at the most apt time. It couldn't have been better timed. Other bowlers too were good but they still need to improve a lot. As in the case of American Navy in WWII, there were a lot of casualties here too - in the form of extremely distorted economy rates.
Harsha: The Indian batsmen would want such a batting card in the next odi they play and not here.
Ravi: Yes they should be disappointed. But there's one man down there who must be beaming like hell. Shoaib Mallik delivered the dream spell at the most apt time. It couldn't have been better timed. Harsha: We've seen in the last two overs that Butt is the one who has decided to anchor the innings while Imran Farhat is trying to play with his natural flair. All the runs that have come from the bat have come from his bat. Pathan coming round the wicket to Butt; he's edged it! But the slip cordon has missed it altogether and Butt opens his account with a boundary of an edge.
Sunny: Pathan's furious with that effort. He's steaming back in for the next delivery. Oh! he's edged it again. This time its caught! Caught by the skipper. Wonderful bowling effort from Irfan.
Harsha: What an innings, we've been treated to. Imran Farhat has raced to his fifty in real quick time. He's taken the least risks but has timed the ball well and he's been helped by some wayward bowling by the Indian bowlers. Out of his team's total of 61 he's scored 50, Butt 4 and the rest have been extras. The two overs when he tore apart Pathan and Ganguly both were exceptional, picking 16 and 18 runs from them. This resounding applause he's getting is very well deserved.

Imran: Pakistan could have done with a better opening partnership but nevertheless, Imran Farhat is playing a great innings in a very demanding situation and in front of a very demanding crowd. The skipper as always is cool and calm and is allowing Farhat to control the flow of runs while holding up the other end. Pakistan scorecard at Tea:

Sunny: On the other end, Inzamam seemed in the form of his life. He flicked and drove his way to his fifty. A bit slow compared to Farhat but as pleasing to the eye as any other fifty.

Saurav tried Pathan again due to the reverse swing factor but he only gave away lots of runs. Harbhajan and Murali Karthik managed to reduce the runrate a bit but couldn't get a break through. Kumble too didn't look menacing.

These two senior batsmen have now put on a 99 run partnership and they have brought the Pakistan score within 150 runs of the opposition.

I would like to draw your attention to the response of a viewer - The Champ - he thinks that India will be able to do well with the second new ball but sir the new ball is still at least 9 overs away. So like Ganguly has already done, the only option left with him is to use his three spinners optimally alongwith Tendulkar.
Geofferey: Yes, but seems that he had different ideas when he started off in the day - giving the first over to Pathan. But the way Inzamam flayed Pathan for 3 fours in the over, made Ganguly change his mind. He switched on to a double spin attack of Kumble and Karthik. Not that Karthik was very impressive. He bowled way too many wides. Like this one:

Harsha: Gentlemen, I think the wicket of Inzamam needs to be looked in detail. It was a crazy looking field set by Ganguly for Bhajji, where he packed the leg side with and asked the turbanator to bowl short deliveries. He tried to set the same field for Tendulkar but the bowler made him change his mind(couldn't change coz of runout exe). But the adamant demand yielded results as with a gap ridden leg side field, Inzamam tried to loft Tendulkar's short delivery in stands, but managed it to lob it to a diving Harabhajan. Great catch to end a great innings.
Sunny : The Karachi crowd will remember this innings for a lifetime when their captain defied the best spin attack in the world and made a huge century.
