Story India Embarks On an International Season- so does the whole world

even I would have wished so...but somehow tried to play it aggressively and lost the wickets...thanks for the compliments...

Harsha: Welcome to the post lunch session of this Frizzel Test Match between India and Pakistan at Karachi. Considering the number of runs scored by India in the first session, despite them losing 5 wickets, in my view, the match is balanced.
Sunny: Yes it is. 282 runs in just one session of play is very good but it could have been better had they not lost those wickets. Here's Mallik to Karthik. He's giving him the charge. Oh and he's gone! Stumped by Akmal.
indpaktestind1stinnings6thwick1.jpg

Harsha: The Indian batsmen seem to have taken a leaf out of the Japanese air force pilots. They are committing Hara Kiri. It was the third ball of the post lunch session and he needed to get his eye in. Instead of doing that he has thrown away his wicket. Gone for a duck!

Ravi: I think this lad Pathan has it in him to become a world class allrounder. He's timing is good and his sense of the situation also seems to be good. He's scored 16 off 16 balls but hasn't played a rash shot till now.
Imran: I think he's the one for the future. Here's Mallik bowling to Pathan. He's fooled him and the bails have been removed in a flash by Kamran Akmal. All the talents that you mentioned will be showcased some other day Ravi. Today its the suicidal streak of Indian batsmen that's on display. India are 310/7.
indpaktestind1stinnings7thwick.jpg

Ravi: Harbhajan, the new man in after Pathan's wicket has played some entertaining shots. Heaving Mallik for two sixes in this very over. I think its the fear of losing the wicket that's coming out as aggression. Here's Mallik to Bhajji. Oh he's played on! He has glanced an offside delivery right on to his leg stump. Mallik's running through the Indian lower order.
indpaktestind1stinnings8thwick.jpg

indpaktestind1stinnings8thwick1.jpg

Geofferey: Its been a very poor performance by India. The batsmen have scored 40's and 50's but have failed utterly to convert these starts into big ones. Here's another 50. This time its Laxman. Well done lad, but look at the strike rate. Are they running a competition for the highest strike rate?
indpaktestind1stinningslaxman5.jpg

Sunny: I hope that he has the will to carry this innings on for a long time and I hope that he doesn't run out of partners. Murali Karthik is supporting him well. Here's Mallik to Laxman. He's tried to heave it out of the ground but has only managed to lob it straight up in the air.
Geofferey: Youhana completes the formalities by taking the catch.
indpaktestind1stinnings9thwick.jpg

See, this is what I meant. They are not looking to play a long innings. The fact is that they are going to give Pakistan a lot of time to chase down their total.

Sunny: This last pair of Kumble and Karthik have added 11 among themselves. Here's Mallik to Karthik. He's bowled!
indpaktestind1stinningsmkarthi.jpg

That's it the Indian innings comes to an end at the score of 366 runs. They should be very disappointed as their form and this track looked good for many more of those.

Harsha: For those of you who missed the WWII videos on Discovery, Indian batsmen have shown how the Japs must have committed Hara Kiri. On a more serious note, they should be disappointed becoz they have scored a far less total than what they could have, they have given more than ample time to Pakistan to chase it and put on a lead and they have a let go of that one batting point by not being able to take the score past 400.
indpaktestind1stinningsscoreca.jpg

Ravi: Yes they should be disappointed. But there's one man down there who must be beaming like hell. Shoaib Mallik delivered the dream spell at the most apt time. It couldn't have been better timed. Other bowlers too were good but they still need to improve a lot. As in the case of American Navy in WWII, there were a lot of casualties here too - in the form of extremely distorted economy rates.
indpaktestind1stinningspakbowl.jpg

Harsha: The Indian batsmen would want such a batting card in the next odi they play and not here.
indpaktestind1stinningsbatting.jpg

Sunny: After this so-so good performance with the bat, India would be wanting to restrict Pakistan for as little a score as possible. The attack will be opened by Irfan Pathan and it seems that Ganguly has decided to take up the new ball at the other end himself.

Harsha: We've seen in the last two overs that Butt is the one who has decided to anchor the innings while Imran Farhat is trying to play with his natural flair. All the runs that have come from the bat have come from his bat. Pathan coming round the wicket to Butt; he's edged it! But the slip cordon has missed it altogether and Butt opens his account with a boundary of an edge.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsmissedc.jpg

Sunny: Pathan's furious with that effort. He's steaming back in for the next delivery. Oh! he's edged it again. This time its caught! Caught by the skipper. Wonderful bowling effort from Irfan.
indpaktestpak2ndinnings1stwick.jpg

Harsha: What an innings, we've been treated to. Imran Farhat has raced to his fifty in real quick time. He's taken the least risks but has timed the ball well and he's been helped by some wayward bowling by the Indian bowlers. Out of his team's total of 61 he's scored 50, Butt 4 and the rest have been extras. The two overs when he tore apart Pathan and Ganguly both were exceptional, picking 16 and 18 runs from them. This resounding applause he's getting is very well deserved.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsfarhat5.jpg

Sunny: An example of his timing and skill - here he lofts Ganguly in to the deep mid-wicket area which is empty.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsfarhath.jpg

Ravi: At one end Farhat is racing past milestones, while on the other the vice-captain Younis Khan is trying to get his confidence and eyes going. He's still on a duck. Here's Ganguly to Younis Khan. Its edged and Bhajji has caught it in the slips. Younis Khan trying to steer it to the leg side misjudges the speed of the ball but thankfully for India Bhajji doesn't.
indpaktestpak2ndinnings2ndwick.jpg

indpaktestpak2ndinnings2ndwick1.jpg

Geofferey: Infact I was surprised that Ganguly continued with himself despite being heavily punished in the last over by Farhat. But his perseverance has paid rich dividends for India. In comes the Pakistan captain.

Ravi: Imran Farhat is kinda unaware of what's happening at the other end. Here's Pathan to Farhat. Short outside the off stump and has been punished through the point with awesome power. Great shot!
indpaktestpak2ndinningsfarhatc.jpg

Geofferey: The Indians have been found wanting in all the departments today. They have batted far below their potential. Now they are bowling at every place they shouldn't be bowling at. The result is that both these batsmen have settled down and now even Kumble and Bhajji who have been lately introduced into the attack cannot stem the flow of runs. Farhat has struck that with awesome power to long on but there's a fielder there. Oh he's missed it. Its gone straight to the fence. Extremely poor fielding there by the fielder.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsindianm.jpg

Imran: Pakistan could have done with a better opening partnership but nevertheless, Imran Farhat is playing a great innings in a very demanding situation and in front of a very demanding crowd. The skipper as always is cool and calm and is allowing Farhat to control the flow of runs while holding up the other end. Pakistan scorecard at Tea:
indpaktestpak2ndinningsscoreca.jpg

Harsha: The lesser said about Indian bowling, the better. For a moment Pathan looked good but he too has been taken to the cleaners by Farhat. Ganguly was very expensive too. Kumble and Bhajji have slowed the run feast a little bit but both have looked far from menacing. The Indian Bowling stats at Tea:
indpaktestpak2ndinningsindbowl.jpg

Imran: Pakistan are not scoring as quickly as the Indians but the end result is that they are losing lesser wickets. Still Farhat's strike rate is well above 100 and Haq too is batting at a very good strike rate.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsbatting.jpg

Thats huge Sachin. Hope you get Pakistan out soon or else you might be in danger! Thatsreally fast scoring from Pakistan

thanks for the review man...its gonna be tough...more updates follow soon...

Just in case u thought i am dumping this thread then u were wrong...

here's the update to the post-tea session on Day 1 in Karachi.

Harsha: Imran Farhat was 3 runs away from a flamboyantly made century, when he hit one straight back to Kumble, who accepted the catch gleefully. The third wicket of Pakistan fell and in came Yousuf Youhana.
indpaktestpak2ndinnings3rdwick1.jpg

Sunny: On the other end, Inzamam seemed in the form of his life. He flicked and drove his way to his fifty. A bit slow compared to Farhat but as pleasing to the eye as any other fifty.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsinzy506.jpg

indpaktestpak2ndinningsinzyfli.jpg

indpaktestpak2ndinningsinzydri.jpg

Harsha: Indian bowlers toiled hard to separate this duo but both looked extremely comfortable with all of them. Saurav tried Pathan again due to the reverse swing factor but he only gave away lots of runs. Harbhajan and Murali Karthik managed to reduce the runrate a bit but couldn't get a break through. Kumble too didn't look menacing.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsindbowl.jpg

Sunny: All the credit to these two batsmen and Imran Farhat. Though I must say that he threw away his wicket unnecessarily. He could have got that elusive century. Milestones are important too. These two senior batsmen have now put on a 99 run partnership and they have brought the Pakistan score within 150 runs of the opposition.
indpaktestpak2ndinningspakista.jpg

indpaktestpak2ndinningspakista1.jpg

Harsha: Inzy has scored all around the park but has slightly favoured the on side. It may also be due to the fact that a lot of overs were bowled by Pathan, Kumble and Karthik.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsinzywag.jpg

Sunny: Farhat before him, peppered the ad boards all over the ground.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsfarhats.jpg

Sunny: It must be said that at the end of day 1, Pakistan look in a good position and Inzamam and Youhana look set to get huge scores. It would be nice to see if India can do some damage before lunch tomorrow and may be restrict the Pakistani total.

I feel sorry for the young lad Farhat missing out on a hundred.

Yes sunny and others r right India should take some inroads into Pak lineup with the ball ithink being relatively new. ( Asuming that New ball is take)

bye
cheers

Day 2 - Lunch - Pakistan: 326/6. Akmal - 0* and Razzaq - 0*

Harsha : Welcome to the Lunch Session Show - Ultimate Umpire!. This is a new feature that the channel is introducing throughout the season. Here we will discuss the previous session's play and will also take note of the responses of the viewers. We have Sunny and Geofferey with us today.

Sunny: Good afternoon to all. I would like to draw your attention to the response of a viewer - The Champ - he thinks that India will be able to do well with the second new ball but sir the new ball is still at least 9 overs away. So like Ganguly has already done, the only option left with him is to use his three spinners optimally alongwith Tendulkar.

Geofferey: Yes, but seems that he had different ideas when he started off in the day - giving the first over to Pathan. But the way Inzamam flayed Pathan for 3 fours in the over, made Ganguly change his mind. He switched on to a double spin attack of Kumble and Karthik. Not that Karthik was very impressive. He bowled way too many wides. Like this one:
indpaktestpak2ndinningskarthik.jpg

Sunny: Yes, but eventually even with his erratic bowling, he managed to dry up runs on Youhana's end and was successful in grabbing his wicket. Here we can see that Youhana who was trying to defend played for a bigger turn which didn't take place.
indpaktestpak2ndinnings4thwick.jpg

Geofferey: But due credit should again be given to Inzamam, for continuing his natural game on the other end and never letting the runs dry up completely. He raced to his century with a more than admirable strike rate. What was surprising about his innings was that he never took a risk. The Karachi crowd was bowled over by the batting of Sultan of Multan.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsinzycen.jpg

Sunny: On the other end, Asim Kamal was really having trouble understanding the Indian spin bowlers. He played 40 odd dot balls and then ran himself out trying to run a second run for Inzamam. (How did a runout take place with Runout exe????)
indpaktestpak2ndinnings5thwick.jpg

Geofferey
: Again it must be mentioned that it was completely due to whom Pakistani score rattled on a great rate, because Kamal and Akmal after him, didn't score a single run even after facing 40 odd balls. Inzy can be seen in action, flaying a Harbhajan delivery over point.
indpaktestpak2ndinningsinzysla.jpg

Harsha: Gentlemen, I think the wicket of Inzamam needs to be looked in detail. It was a crazy looking field set by Ganguly for Bhajji, where he packed the leg side with and asked the turbanator to bowl short deliveries. He tried to set the same field for Tendulkar but the bowler made him change his mind(couldn't change coz of runout exe). But the adamant demand yielded results as with a gap ridden leg side field, Inzamam tried to loft Tendulkar's short delivery in stands, but managed it to lob it to a diving Harabhajan. Great catch to end a great innings.
indpaktestpak2ndinnings6thwick.jpg

indpaktestpak2ndinnings6thwick1.jpg

Sunny : The Karachi crowd will remember this innings for a lifetime when their captain defied the best spin attack in the world and made a huge century.
