Story India hosts Australia for a five test series

R. Gavaskar replaces Laxman and India finishes the over and session for no furthur loss. India in big-big trouble now and their only hope at the moment is Sachin who is playing well on 84.

India scored 97 runs of 28 overs in the second session and they lost wickets of Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman. Interestingly Warne bowled only 3 overs in the end as Ponting still used Katich for most of the time without any success for him. Hope we see more of warne in the last session. Mcgrath was the pick of the bowlers as he got 3 wickets.

Mcgrath strikes again for Australia as Gavaskar is caught by Clarke at covers. Gavaskar made 15 and India losses its sixth wicket on 196.

That brings Kumble to the crease as India gets his score passed 200 and Sachin gets more close to his century.

And thats it! 100 for Sachin with a beautiful straight drive of Lee. His hundred took 183 balls which included 19 boundaries.

Kumble also played a couple of good shots before finally be bowled by Gillespie. Kumble made good 24 runs and India losses its seventh wicket on 196. A good 46 runs partnership between Sachin and Kumble.

That brings Harbhajan to the crease. Sachin now plays aggressively for the first time in his marathon knock as India gets passed 250 mark.

On the other end Harbhajan also hits the first six of the match.

In the last over of the day Ponting brought Clarke to attack which was a very good thinking.

But Sachin and Harbhajan plays him quietly without any further damage. So India finishes off the first day at 268/7 with Sachin not out on 123 and Harbhajan on 10. A good session in the end for India as they scored 103 runs and lost only 2 wickets. A great century by Sachin and India will be hoping some quick fire from him tommorrow morning.
