Michael Atherton: Andrew Flintoff has dismissed Irfan Pathan for 20. This is the first wicket to fall this morning.

Paul Allot: Yeah, India made a fine start, and England will be relieved to have finally got a breakthrough.

Michael Atherton: It was a fine delivery from Flintoff, going through the gate, and rattling the stumps.

England to be on the safe side, shd now utilise to restrict India below 350!!!

Its left to Yuvraj to increase the scoring rate and get as many runs in the bag as possible. I just hope the tail sticks with him.

Pathan was giving good support to Yuvi ......Now Yuvi has to stay there and start scoring quickly and get most of the stike.

Zaheer Khan departs

Michael Atherton: Well England have just dismissed Zaheer Khan, when he was caught at slips by Michael Vaughan off Andrew Flintoff. England now have a good chance of bowling India out for less than 350, something that was looking unlikely a few minutes back.

Paul Allot: Yeah, good disciplined bowling from Flintoff, bowling in that corridor of uncertainity, and getting that outside edge of Zaheer Khan's bat. Nice catch at 3rd slip by the captain, Michael Vaughan as well.

Yuvraj reaches 150, India cross 350

Ian Botham: Yuvraj seems to look better and better, and has played a massive role in this innings. India, will now look to score as many more runs as possible having passed 350.

yuv1500cx.jpg

David Gower: Yes indeed. A fine knock from Yuvraj, has shown exactly how to play on this wicket. Brilliant stuff.

David Gower: So a good morning session for India sees them cross the 350 run mark, with one certain Yuvraj Singh playing a major role. I have with me in the studio, Ian Botham and Nasser Hussain.

yuvraj1593pc.jpg

Ian Botham: Yes absolutely. He has been the spine of the Indian batting lineup, and everyone has pretty much played alongside him. A beautiful knock, and the best thing was that he showed how exactly you are supposed to bat on that wicket, and in the conditions. Fantastic stuff and a richly deserved 150 for him.

David Gower: Yes, and India surely will be happy with that morning session.

Nasser Hussain: Definately David. I thought they had a perfect start in the morning with Yuvraj and Pathan both doing their respective jobs well. Pathan scored a valuable 20, and more importantly gave support to Yuvraj. And when Flintoff got those two quick wickets, I thought England in the end had a good chance of getting India out for less than 350, but Yuvraj had other ideas, and with some fine support from Anil Kumble and has taken his team pass the 350 mark. Well done.

David Gower: Yes indeed. Well lets now have a look at the scorecards. And we start with India's batting.
scr11jb.jpg

scr29pm.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Well India resumed on 268-6, and then that crucial partnership between Yuvraj and Pathan, took them past the 300 run mark, and at that stage it seemed very likely that India would reach 350 or even 400. But two quick wickets from Flintoff, and it suddenly looked like England were going have the last laugh. Fortunately for India, they recovered once again, and did cross the 350 run mark, and now will be looking to get as close to 400 as possible. Yuvraj has been the star of that session and the entire innings, scoring a fine 156 unbeaten, and has been well supported by Pathan's 20 and Kumble's 3 unbeaten.

David Gower: For England, the best bowler of that session was Andrew Flintoff, who got those two quick wickets.

And now its time for us take a break. After the break we will have a look at some of the individual stats.

Yuvraj Singh had played an excellent innings!!! India despite loosing early wickets, slightly gains the upper hand now as they have good total on their screboard!!! well done Yuvi!!!

great batting by Yuvi :cheers .Now as A.Kumble is there he has some batting ability and has the ability to bat for 1-2 sessions . Now Yuvi should play a few shots and India should get close to 450 .All the best Yuvi hoping that u reach double century :cheers

David Gower: Welcome back, and now its time to look at the individual player stats. And we start with the Indian batting.

yuvijl7.jpg

Nasser Hussain: Yeah, and the star of that session was Yuvraj, who smashed 84 runs in that session itself, having scored 72 the whole of yesterday. In that session itself he hit six fours and three sixes. And the experience of yesterday helped him a lot today as he looked a lot more confident against the ball, which was still swinging around today, as Mr. Zaheer Khan will tell you.

yuvi2io0.jpg

David Gower: And another interesting thing from those stats is that he continued to score mostly off the leg side.

Nasser Hussain: Yeah astonishing that. But it seems to be working in modern day test cricket, as one Mr. Kevin Pietersen will tell you.

David Gower: And coming to the England bowlers, only one bowler was successful to pick up wickets in that session. Andrew Flintoff who infact got two wickets.

Ian Botham: Yup. Well we thought Simon Jones and Matthew Hoggard held the key for England after yesterday's performance. But then you can never ignore Andrew Flintoff, as he can strike anywhere and anytime. He bowled pretty much the same line and length as yesterday but got the ball reverse a whole lot more. England not taking the new ball till the 96th over.

freddiews8.jpg

David Gower: Indeed Ian. Well its time for another break, after which we will have a look at that session's highlights. Following that we will LIVE action of the afternoon session's play.

Yuvraj misses out on double hundred

Ravi Shastri: Well England have finally managed to dismiss Yuvraj Singh, and how lucky he is to miss out on a double hundred after having played ever so well.

yuvidishb2.gif

David Lloyd: He did the job for his team, and even though he dint get to 200, it probably was of much greater importance to his team. But full credit to England aswell to carry on trying to get his wicket, and in the end Simon Jones was the breakthrough man again.

Ravi Shastri: Yes indeed, it was nicely disguised fullish delivery, tempting Yuvraj to go for the shot, but was unable to connect properly and only managed to find Kevin Pietersen's safe hands.

David Lloyd: India havent managed to last long after Yuvraj's dismissal, as Sreesanth was bowled for a duck, after facing just three balls. Steve Harmison picked up his second wicket of the innings.

Ravi Shastri: Lets now have a look at the scorecards. India had as many as four batsmen with very good starts, but only one of them was able to carry on get a big score. Yuvraj Singh's 196 was one of the best test match knocks that I have seen. He was well supported by Dhoni, Pathan and Kumble.

scr1eh0.jpg

scr2eh8.jpg

David Lloyd: And for England, Simon Jones was the pick of the bowlers, ending with figures of 4-88. Andrew Flintoff, Matthew Hoggard and Steve Harmison each picked up two wickets.

scr3in5.jpg

Summary

India - 1st Innings - 412 (131.3 Overs)
Yuvraj Singh 196(297)

Mahendra Dhoni 51(106)
VVS Laxman 50(97)

Simon Jones 4-88
Andrew Flintof 2-88
Matthew Hoggard 2-92
Steve Harmison 2-93

David Lloyd: So as the teams get ready to switch duties, we will take a short commercial break. England's batting is coming up next.
