Well I hope the selectors aren't stupid enough to judge Karthik's innings as worse because he fell 3 runs short of 3 figures.

On another note--Yuvraj cannot even score against these U19 bowlers! He has no place in the Test team for the moment.

Lol, your avatar made me lol. Haha

Yuvraj has all but sealed his fate in this test journey in Australia. There is no logical chance that he will play in Perth (& probably Adelaide too).

I think Jaffer will be retained and Sehwag will be made to partner him at the top. Inspite of Karthik's 97, Jaffer is a specialist opener and a specialist opener's 92 gets more weightage than Karthik. And Karthik cant also compete with Sehwag who has not only scored more runs than him this innings, but the way he scored it suggests that such an approach would help India a lot if they have got to fight in the Perth test. So Karthik could be the person to be dropped (but nothing harsh in it! He is in a team full of talent but not proper application).

A loss for Australia, and a win for India. Yuvraj obviously needs a break from test cricket because he doesn't seem to be ready for it right now.

Yuvi is certainly omitted from next match and will be replace by Pathan. But I dont know what has happened to Karticks keeping. He is keeping worse than Dravid used to do in ODIs. He certainly has not made any good of his chance given behind the stumps. Sehwag with his knock has almost sealed the place in next match. The only toss up now is between Jaffer and Kartick. Here I think Kartick could have helped India had he been upto his keeping standards but not keeping for well over year now has made him turn into a batsmen only.

That is one FAT umpire!!!

LOL, in the first innings Karthik smashed the ball at his stomach off Bulger, he didn't have time to move out of the way and the ball just bounced off.

You have to understand why Karthik has been more sloppy though, he has hardly been keeping, so anyone would find it tough after a while.

Not giving a chance to Karthik because of his keeping when you have a regular keeper in Dhoni does not make sense. Karthik's fielding is a lot better than a lot of other guys. Jaffer had four chances in Tests in Australia and he failed miserably and I believe that he will have worse problems with Brett Lee in Perth. It is time for a change.

Jaffer problem is against the Aussie bowling lineup, scoring against this ACT attack isn't that much of a task. Hes been scoring runs against other countries so it's not a case of him not being able to score runs he just can't get them against Australia atm.
Oh my bad seems like most of the bowlers are more just grade cricketers as I see most of them are 25ish.

Rogers early exit in the 2nd inns hasn't done much for his cause, certainly opened the door for David Hussey should one of them be required.

To me Chris Rogers looked more compact in defence and playing style than Jaques. Besides having home advantage also goes with him therefore I can think if the selectors think of picking him cos frankly if Hayden has injured hammy then it will at least take 4 weeks to heal. But you cannot say anything these days Edwards and Steyn played test match just after 3 days break.

Great innings by Sehwag, that should have hopefully cemented his place in the starting line-up, and I will scream if the selectors are dumb enough to select Yuvraj over Sehwag. Although Karthik's innings was just as good I wouldn't know who would make way for him. Yuvraj needs to go sort his batting technique in Test's out, also I was pretty pleased with the 3 wickets taken....

Here is my starting line-up for Perth:

1) Wasim Jaffer
2) Virender Sehwag
3) VVS Laxman
4) Rahul Dravid
5) Sachin Tendulkar
6) Sourav Ganguly
7) MS Dhoni +
8) Irfan Pathan (OB1)
9) Anil Kumble C
10) RP Singh (OB2)
11) Ishant Sharma

Considering India was not having any contribution from Jaffer, Yuvi and DHoni i will drop all three and bring in Kartick, Sehwag and Pathan. Sometimes fast bowlers loose plot by seeing bounce at WACA hence our two spinners can exert control then.
If they wanna drop Bhajji then I will be temped to go with Yuvi 1 last time.

I thik Jaffer and Yuvraj should be dropepd giving a chance to Karthik and Sehwag who can open.
Karthik can also keep seeing as he is better than MSD,but MSD is not gr8 in fielding, especially in the longer version.

I think that I would perhaps still not bring in Dinesh Karthik. His weakness against Shoaib Akhtar's quicker deliveries makes me think that perhaps he has an issue with fast bowling. This is clearly not ideal for an opener against Australia.

I'd bring in Sehwag for Yuvraj Singh. I would also bring in Irfan Pathan for Harbhajan Singh. I reiterate that Sehwag should not be in the squad and either Gambhir or Chopra would have been better options due to domestic form but given the squad, I'd go with Sehwag and open with him; consequently dropping Dravid down the order to number six.

Irfan Pathan could be in the team as the third seamer with Ishant Sharma and RP Singh opening the bowling. Despite the nature of the WACA pitch, I think that RP Singh and Pathan should look to pitch the ball up to the bat and look for swing. Chris Rogers mentioned the ground favouring swing and to be honest, watching Pathan bowl a bouncer is painful.

I think Pankaj Singh and VRV Singh have squandered their opportunity. I also think that neither should have spots for the CB Series. Both have poor List A records and playing in the CB Series (and failing) will only hurt them in the long term. I believe that playing in the Duleep Trophy (or going to the NCA) would be far more beneficial for them.

Gautam Gambhir is not at all injured. It was just a ploy of the selectors to get Sehwag in.If Gambhir were injured,he would not hav scored a 100 in the Ranji semis to guide Delhi to the finals.
Chopra, well sadly, the bloke was admitted to the ICU.No news on him yet.

Pankaj and VRV are not making good use of thier height.
I think Agarkar will come back for the ODIs[if we play] given that Z Khan is out of action.

Please no! Agarkar is a step back, his body is weakening and we need to build toward the 2011 World Cup. Praveen Kumar is a far better option considering his performance in the Challenger Trophy and for the India A One Day team.

I think four pacers is all that are needed in the squad: RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar and Irfan Pathan. With his rather extraordinary List A economy rate, I'd like to see Gagandeep Singh in the squad, but that won't happen.

Gambhir missed the first Ranji Trophy match after the squad was announced with a shoulder injury.
