Hugh wicket by McGrath v2 just what we needed as Laxman was looking really good and aiming to do another miracle on us.

No, caught Clarke, bowled Clark.

Why do they have initials next to their names on most scorecards as well? It's not hard to tell the two apart.

its because their face is not on the scorecard, plus they do that with just about veryone who has the same last name in every sport.

So, the question now becomes can Ganguly and Dhoni replicate the 376-run partnership between Laxman and Dravid at Kolkata?

You can tell I'm a true tri-coloured supporter. :p

Nice to see I'm not the only eternally optimistic member here. I will never cease to believe until the match is well and truly over.

Perhaps Yuvraj's double failure will cause a change in the batting order in the 2nd test match. I can only hope that this knocks some sense into Kumble and causes him to play Dravid at 3 and make Sehwag open with Jaffer at the expense of Yuvraj.

yep sehwag should be opening with jaffer drop yuvi i am afraid since indian opeing batsman are getting stuck from first ball they dont attack dravid should go back to no.3 and sehwag to open simple and laxman should come after ganguly simple

But they don't have the same name. One is Clarke and one is Clark.

I'm happy we lost this game. Should really open up those daft selectors' eyes.
It cracks me up to see the guy we wrecked our whole side for getting a duck and five runs. Ha ha.

My lineup for Sydney

Sehwag
Jaffer
Laxman
Tendulkar
Ganguly
Dravid
Dhoni/Karthik
Irfan
Kumble
Harbajan/Fast Bowler
Zaheer

i still cant belive that India are playing 2 spinners in Australia, with their batting being so weak they should look to play Pathan who can give them the 3rd pace option.

i like your squad cricman, 2 specialist openers are a must for India. not sure if i would drop Dravid so low but i wouldnt mind seing somthing like that but without harbhajan in the 11.

+ve for India in the match:

1) Zaheer looks fit. Bowled 9 overs in one spell in which he got Ponting out.
2) Ganguly, Sachin, Laxman and Dravid have spent time in middle and have got measure of the bounce of Australian wickets.
3) Not many Aussie batsmen went mad after our bowling.
4) Match finished in 4 days so we have 1 more day of practice.
Sorry but not much.

-Ve from the match:

1) Openors were disaster.
2) Middle order was even bigger disaster.
3) Nothing came from Dhoni and Yuvi.
4) Dravid looks like he should have batting session with Sehwag and Dhoni. :)
Good thing is its only to do with batting. Sad part is that is our strong point.

My Line Up for next match in batting order:

Jaffer
Kartick
Dravid
Tendulkar
Ganguly
Laxman
Sehwag
Irfan
Kumble
Zaheer
Pankaj Singh/Ishant

Whats going for this line up:
1) Dhoni will not do well in Australia so just get in Kartick who will solve the problem of opening batsmen also.
2) Laxman and Dravid are dangerous in there positions so this will put them back where they belong.
3) Irfan will add to batting depth and can bowl like what RP SIngh bowled.
4) Sehwag can be dangerous lower down and also be used as fifth bowler and Sydney will offer turn for him.
5) RFM will add another dimension to attack.

I agree with the above. Playing Irfan ahead of Harbhajan with RP Singh still in the squad would be a mistake. It would make one or both of them a liability as we would be playing 3 left armers.

Although, I feel Sehwag would fare better as an opener as he times the new ball exceptionally well on his day. Nevertheless, I've always been a bigger fan of Karthik. Some may disagree, but I think he is a far better keeper than Dhoni and if he worked on his batting, he could be quite an addition to the squad.
