Nevertheless, I've always been a bigger fan of Karthik. Some may disagree, but I think he is a far better keeper than Dhoni and if he worked on his batting, he could be quite an addition to the squad.

No disagreement he was always better keeper its only batting skills of Dhoni that has him in the team.

Out of interest, how is Dhoni as just a fielder? I've never seen him in the field without his wicket-keeping gear on. Until now I've always thought one of the reasons Karthik couldn't be keeper (if Dhoni were also to be in the team) was that Dhoni simply isn't as capable a fielder as he is a wicket-keeper. Whereas, Karthik performs both duties quite well.

Dhoni is not bad as fielder. Did fielded against SA in T20 World Cup and Kartick took gloves as he was not feeling well. But no way is Dhoni going to play as specialist batsmen. He aint that good in test. In ODI he can play as batsmen alone though.

People who were writing off Brad Hogg have gone quiet. So have the ones making comments about Lee and the Indian batting being stronger then Australia's.

Thanks for the laughs.

Hogg should keep his place for sure. He was 100 times more impressive then MacGill was against Sri Lanka.

Wasn't expecting India to go worst than their 1st inns. Much all round bowling this time round, good to see Hogg chip in with 2 wickets including the biggie in Ganguly.

It really annoys me that you're Indian and support Australia (you = glory hog). Cricket is like the epitome of pride in India. However, I guess it's your choice.

...Why do you go for Germany then as well?

If you have German in you then I can understand.

I think
Indian = Cricket team
Germany = Soccer cos our soccer team sucks big time (146 in world)

I still think Hogg sucks. Just India atm suck more. I mean, they really got pwned this match.

Hoggy does not suck but he will never be dangerous against India. He can still bowl out ROW.

Dravid makes Geoff Boycott seem fast, for those of us old enough to remember him, I saw him when I was young.
Real slow and boring to watch.

India's problem is all the better players are just too old, (where is all the young talent?) Also Sewag with his record in Australia being quite good, why was he left out?
3.1 or 4 nill is my predication, Indias only chance is on Spinner Friendly Sydney deck.

Geoff Boycott definately looks better than Dravid and I must question the opening tactics over here.Being overly defensive does not help.

The problem is not with the old people.
Whic of the young blood did anything worthwhile here ?

Yuvraj 0 & 5
Dhoni 0 & 10
Harbhajan-Even KKD Karthik could have picke dup wickets here.

3-0 or 4-0,I still don't think so.
India has a great chance of coming back and they are known for their fantabulous comebacks.

Jaffer apporoach was not right. He went fishing, and it c ost him his wicket. did not learn from his first innings.

Jaffer gives off negative energy. It seems that he has been forced to play cricket for India. His wickets were catching practice for Gilchrist.

Hoggy does not suck but he will never be dangerous against India. He can still bowl out ROW.

How many wickets did Hogg get ?
Just 4 !

I agree with that,he can bowl out ROW but not India.

Really pathetic performance by the Indian team to fold up within 4 days.

I see this being a long, hard tour unless drastic changes are made.

My suggestions:

1. Get rid of Dravid from the opening slot. Give it to Sehwag or even KKD who seems to like batting with Jaffer. Give Jaffer just one more go. If he fails again, then bring in KKD and Sehwag together to open the innings.

2. Drop Yuvraj singh from the line up. Let Laxman occupy #6.

3. Drop Bhajji - even Symonds' part-time offspin looks more threatening than Harbhajan's bowling.

4. Bring in Ishant Sharma and add some fire to the bowling attack. We need the extra seamer. We can always bowl Sachin Tendulkar's part time leg spin or Sehwag's offspin if Kumble feels the need for an extra spinner.

5. Tell all the batsmen to play positively regardless of the situation.

We need the extra aggression in bowling and batting to take on Australia. Dravid's negativity just acts as a dampener when he opens.

Again not sure about Lee. Took a beating from Ganguly (though bowled an over to him) and i watched his line skew quite a bit. Thats how they should play Brett Lee. Go hard. To bad no batsman followed the Aussies and Ganguly. Yeah people have shut it about Hogg- so happy he did well. Absolute beauty to get Yuvraj. As for the batting line up i disagree. You must remember Australia lost against Mumbai 2nd XI in their warm up match before taking on India in India. Australia ended up winning as well. They needed a full warm up game. I have to commend the bowling. Their first official bowl for the Indians was this match and they produced an absolute beauty.

EDIT: I have no idea why people underestimate Hogg so much. He's got an unplayable wrong un and his flight often fools good players of spin. Drop him for the Perth Test match though. Oh and get rid of Johnson. I can't stand the bloke and his bowling is pretty average. If it weren't for Dravid in the first innings his economy rate wouldn't be so low...

The Indian REPORT CARD
Created by: KING CRICKET

Pass Marks: 60/110

1. WASIM JAFFER- 0.5/10: Had an outstanding test series against Pakistan. Don’t know what happened to him in this test.
2. RAHUL DRAVID- 0/10: How slow can a man bat? We must drop him in the second test, or else we will loose again.
3. VVS LAXMAN- 7/10: Average batting in both the innings.
4. SACHIN TENDULKAR- 7.5/10: Played a “master-class” in the first innings. Looked kind of shaky in the second innings, probably due to enormous pressure.
5. SOURAV GANGULY- 8/10: At least he tried his best to rescue India.
6. YUVRAJ SINGH- 1/10: Before the start of this series everyone had great expectations on him. But he again showed that DREAMS NEVER COME TRUE.
7. MS DHONI- 1/10: Something is affecting his batting a great deal. It may be pressure, it may be captaincy………
8. ANIL KUMBLE- 9/10: Legends always remain legends. He tried his best but was unlucky
9. HARBHAJAN SINGH- 5/10: Average Bowling
10. ZAHEER KHAN- 7/10: Not bad bowling. But needs improvement.
11. RP SINGH- 4.5/10: Poor Bowling

TOTAL---------------50.5/110

I struggle to see why Yuvraj got a higher rating then Jaffer. Not only did Jaffer have the disadvantage of facing the new ball but he also outscored Yuvraj!

I have rated Yuvraj higher than Jaffer because of that wrong decision by Billy Bowden in the first innings.
