India in Pakistan

How is that positive to Inzy? Tendulkar has sustained a higher average over a longer period...

I don't think Munaf and VRV can regularly keep it in the 140-150 range. I think they'll probably keep it around 135 with the odd ball in the 140's. And perhaps one ball every two-three innings that slips to 150. A lot of hype has been made about the speed of these guys. Even when Zaheer started he was in the 140's. Same with Nehra. Same with Pathan in England for the Natwest Challenge. International cricket causes them to lose their pace drastically.

What was Nehra's consistent speed? I heard he was the quickest of the left armers!

Surprising to see you so much confident about Munaf and VRV? Well, I just hope our search for a genuine fast bowler ends this year! I badly want to see our team have their hands firmly on the World Cup 2007!

VRV and munaf both are good bowlers but not as quick as lee, akhtar, harmison, they make it in 140s but they regular speed is around 135 to 140 which still is a bit slow but better than what we have. well bowling is not only about pace. intelligence is needed when to bowl what is important variation are needed which is what we are lacking in our bowlers at the moment.

Pathan played a good knock and then added some more to his bowling prowess and ability-at least for today. It seems that our other two bowlers-Bhajji and Zaheer-don't seem to be as bad of batsmen and can well sustain a succesful tailend.

Nonetheless, my question is, would you rather have exceptionally good bowlers or bowlers who are decent, but can bat well and add +-250 runs at the end?-and this is completely a hypothetical question.

To quote Imran Khan "Cricket is a Specialist's Game", especially Test Cricket.
I would prefer India play 5 Specialist Bowlers and Batsmen in the Sub-Continent. I don't like bowlers who are not there 100% as bowlers but are selected in the team because they can bat a bit, example Agarkar. Same with fringe batsmen who are part time bowlers, example Ganguly.

Tell you what Sai, I have been hearing this prayer since I was in my diapers. I am 30 something now. We need fast bowlers, we need good wickets, so that we can have batsmen who can win on good wickets.
Have travelled far and wide, crossed mountains, seas, and deserts, yet no sight of the Holy Grail (Genuine Indian Fast Bowler). All we could manage was a couple of mirages, Srinath, and Zaheer.

Lillee has tried for the last 20 years at the MRF (Medium) Pace Academy. You just can't manufacture fast bowlers. 90% of kids in Indian coaching camps don't want anything to do with bowling, let alone fast bowling. Like you said everyone wants to be Tendulkar.

Well Akmal is now out. 2/182. India will really have to put the pressure on now (easier said than done on these pitches I would think) and try group some wickets to have any hope of obtaining a result in this match.

younis was out lbw, another bad decision against india on this flat pitch

Boring draw yet again it seems. Well this series has done nothing to improve test cricket and increase the interest of the fans towards it. I remember the Ashes series last year got a lot of people following the test and 4 day games a lot more. But the wickets in this series have cancelled-out all the interest that series might have generated.

For such a promising and intense build-up and the world full of expectations, this has to be one of the most ridiculous and disappointing series ever. 2/340 on the fifth day. Does the ball swing, bounce akwardly, move off the seam or get any carry at all even in the early overs?

I agree, Pakistan should of made a game out of this. This is just ridiculous and is an embarrassment really. Even Graeme Smith had the guts to make a bold delcaration against the Aussies at the SCG. The pitches provided is an embarassment to world cricket and does not help the reputation of the grounds in Pakistan. They produced quite good wickets against England yet the pitches produced this series have been schockers and not up to international standards. I though Inzi said before the series he wanted green tops so it could suit his quicker bowlers?? Many spectators will be extremely dissapointed in what should be a series which was bigger than The Ashes and thought to be bigger than The Ashes as well because both teams are on good form.

Really poor stuff from Pakistan. First the shocking flat pitches they are producing and then not even trying to get a result. What do they intend to achieve by doing this?

Well producing a green top is a bit far-fetched, but what they have managed to produce has been shocking. But they should atleast give themselves the chance of a result, they have such a massive lead anyway that it's more than safe.

You've got to ask questions about whether pitches like this are acceptable for test match cricket. If you can get penalised for preparing a strip that aids the bowlers too much, why not for one that aids that batsman too much?

Lol if I was Dravid I would give everyone a go even himself :p
