India in the West Indies

Powar and Pathan are more a bit of allrounders today, although Pathan started as bowler, but still it's strange to see that amount of bowlers in a team.

I think the Indians have wasted their tour match, playing 7 bowlers, 2 wicketkeepers and 2 specialist batsman. Even with 7 bowlers antigua got to 300.

Its 4 batsmen, 1 wicketkeeper and 6 bowlers and not the combination that you've added above.

W.Jaffer, V.Sehwag, VVS Laxman, MD Kaif, KKD Karthick, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Ramesh Powar

Conceding 300 in a warm up game to such a side is bad. Lets hope guys like Laxman and Jaffer score some runs tomorrow and get some practice. The first test starts on Friday!

Ah, it is 7 bowlers but theres more than 11 players playing for india. Rainas playing aswell.

Heres the full line-up: India: R Dravid, MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, W Jaffer, M Kaif, KKD Karthik, A Kumble, VVS Laxman, MM Patel, IK Pathan, RR Powar, SK Raina, V Sehwag, VR Singh, S Sreesanth, Yuvraj Singh.

Oh ok, sorry Drewska..

Sehwag OUT??? Anyways, Jaffer is batting pretty well in his usual style. Hope he and Laxman bat well tomorrow. Both are important to this team's test success

I remember Jaffer played a very nice knock the last time India toured the West Indies. But he is a player who really likes the ball coming on the bat so that he can play backfoot drivers, not sure how he would fare on the slow (subcontinent style!) west indian pitches.

Its a 16-a-side affair, 11 bat and 11 field. A very good idea so that both the batsmen and bowlers can get in their practice. Makes up for the stupidity of having a 2-day first class game.

but I think the organisers might want to have a bit more livelier pitches to negate the Kumble factor.

Yup! Meanwhile, good knock from Jaffer and a decent knock being played right now by VVS Laxman (42*). Hope he continues and gets useful practice in these conditions!

Godo knocks from Laxman and Jaffer, but dissappointing from Dravid, Sehwag and Raina.

It really shows how important experience and skill really are when you're touring. This ain't county cricket in India.

Dravid is just having an off time, i'm sure he'll get back into the groove. The bowling department has few points to worry about, Pathan is not in great form, SS, and MP are being taken very well. VRV is a failed entity so far. Only Bhajji and Kumble look threatening.

Laxman and Jaffer played nicely today. Jaffer was one of the people I was impressed with when England toured. Dravid always seemed to play better when Jaffer was at the crease.

Dhoni needs to blast a couple of quick runs with Pathan now.

Making lively pitches would only make Kumble more dangerous. Kumble gets a lot of his wickets from bounce, speed and skidding the ball, not so much from actual spin.

Sreesanth looked good in the ODIs and he should continue to fare decently in the test matches, if picked. Munaf Patel is more of a test bowler, because he is a rhythm bowler. If he gets into the groove in the test matches, he could be difficult to handle. What makes you say VRV Singh is a failed entity? He only bowled 10 overs, took a wicket (a tailender's, though) and had a pretty good economy rate. He was unfortunate to enter international cricket on an injury, but he seems to have rectified that now.

Yea. Kumble is a potential danger for WI on these tracks. I don't know why he bowled just 9 overs.

SS was not that impressive in the ODI series, but his pace, and the out-swinger can trouble the batsmen. Its going to be MP, SS and Pathan, along with Kumble and Bhajji. VRV has failed to impress so far, i believe he should go back to domestic cricket. He's still very young and will have enough opportunities coming his way.

Of course VRV will go back to domestic cricket. I am sure he must be knowing that he doesnt stand that much of a chance of making it to the eleven what with Munaf and Sreesanth around.

VRV need huge amount of improvement if he wants to make it back to international cricket.
