I think the team is waiting for Zaheer to return. Since they do not want to bring him in the middle of the tour, they are making up with the bowlers selected for this tour like Sreesanth, Munaf. Once this tour is over, I am sure Zaheer will be back to take up the burden of India's spearhead in the wake of Pathan's dramatic loss of confidence, form.

But Pathan will return with a bang soon.. He is that type of player who when faced with a dilemma, will bounce back hungrily. but he can never be a spearhead.

Poor start by India! 2 wickets and scoring at just 2 runs per oveR??? WOW.. the wicket must have something for the bowlers surely!
Zaheer has done well for Worcestershire why hasn't he been called up?

Because there is a lot of difference between county and international cricket.

He is not in the team because they dont want to call up a player midway during a series. His good form has been off late in the recent county matches.

I am sure he will be considered for selection after this tour ends..

Looks like this tour is going to end in a disastrous note for India! 198/8 is HORRIBLE! The batsmen have played terribly slow in this innings. No one will want to blame Dravid because whenever someone says against him, there are people who quickly jump up in defence for him.

81 is good but off 215 balls??? you got to be batting positive on a wicket that offers help for bowlers. laxman 18 off 96 balls??

without pathan, i dont see any other bowler causing trouble to the batsmen (among the pacers). india got to rely again on kumble and harbhajan..

dont know whats in store for india in this match...

on the county note, ganguly scored 44* off 53 balls in a twenty20 match. he seems to be scoring pretty well in england. he scored a 71 in a 50 over match and here a 44*. even though a 44* off 53 balls is not good for twenty20, the opposition scored low (86 all out) and his team didnt need to score quickly at all...

What the Hell happenned? I could only watch the last hour of play. Yes , the wicket was fast and bouncy, but I still don't understand India's score.

If Kumble who, now let's all agree here he's not a batsman or even a bowling allrounder, can make 45, What in the bloody world happenned to the 6 Indian Batsmen excluding Dravid?, am counting Dhoni as a Batsman.

We have 7 Batsmen as Dhoni is also a Batsman, getting out for 200 is totally incomprehensible to me. Especially if your senior tailender read Kumble makes 45. The wicket can't be that Bowler Friendly. I am totally dumbfounded.

I also feel, Zaheer will be considered for selection but its doubtful for him to make it in top11.

This is one of the poor batting display by India!!! i wonder whts wrong with Dhoni and Yuvraj!!!

I guess Munaf and Kumble can do some tricks.

About Ganguly, hmmmm... good to hear that but as Vaughan told above, county is different from international...but i feel he is wroking hard...He needs to prove himself against the quality pace bowlers(international level) thts a tough ask for him!!! he is still in the bottom of the ladder and prove something extraordinary to reach the top!!!!

People on here are reacting as if India have already lost the test match. Remember test cricket consists of 5 days and India have lost the first day, there are still 4 more days. We've seen throughout this series, the Windies have dominated 1 or 2 days but India have bounced back by having a brilliant day or performing well in the rest of the days in the test match.

Yes they have "almost" lost. Nobody has won a Sabina ParkTest after scoring 200 or less in the First Innings.
It will really be a miracle from here on , even if India manages to draw.

I am hoping for a Killer spell from Sreesanth.

Killer spell from Sreesanth? I dont think so. Munaf is the person I would rely upon. He is a line and length bowler and if you see the Windies bowlers, they were rewarded for the persistent bowling in the channel of uncertainty.

We have almost lost this, but being a die hard Indian cricket fan, I wouldnt want to count the team out. If we win from here, it would be sensational! The wicket is expected to ease out (already has shown signs of that!) and Lara's record at Jamaica is impressive, to say the least. And they have Sarwan and the likes who are riding a crest of good form.

Another guy India will always turn upto is KUMBLE. Man, this guy is a gem! Be it batting or bowling, he is fighting like a warrior. I feel he will do well with the ball too in this match. Lets see what the 'more matured' Harbhajan Singh does. A total of no more than 300 for the Windies and I would say India have done a fantastic job!

Good to see you change a bit and say "he (gangz) is working hard". i feel his current style of batting would have suited the indian batting on the first day in this test match. He is not dravid to play out that many dot balls and just stay at the wicket, and yet today, he plays with much more caution and responsibility.

The wicket wasnt fast (as reported). it had variable bounce and with the new ball, the bowlers got that extra bit of movement off the pitch. thats all.. its not a fast wicket by any means!

dont count on dhoni..... he is an entertainer, thats all. he cant be counted upon in a crisis situation. if you see the pattern of the final tests in the previous three series for india, all three of those tests were played on lively pitches, and dhoni fails in all three of those matches (one more innings to go at Sabina Park this match). give dhoni a lively pitch and see him walking back to the pavilion in no time! dhoni's success is more because of the increasing number of batting paradises across the world. and remember, he hasnt toured australia, south africa, new zealand and england yet! god knows what fate holds for him in these countries! lets hope his entertainment gets to us at regular intervals!

Nice post there. May be the Indians should have anticipated a bowler-friendly, or atleast a bouncy track. This is a big problem, we're not talking about lack of technique for the players, when you play one game out of 4 test series on a bouncy track, its not good.

Buts its happening always on such tracks, so we just hope that when India play abroad, or even in the sub-continent, it'll be nice to play on good tracks.

Dhoni's a mere entertainer, i hope people drop their hopes on him. Its more like a very good performance from the bowlers.

Finally, good to see people realize that Dhoni is a flat-track bully and not a Tendulkar or even a Sehwag.
My money is on Munaf to deliver if anyone will.
We are relying too much on Anil and on a second day track he would need the pacemen to fire.
Th wicket still has something in it.
It was`nt sheer pace that got the wickets , it was the consistent bowling by Collymore and Bravo which did the damage.
Munaf will stick to his line and length but I doubt whether the over enthusiastic Sreesanth will ??

Tendlya, we need you back soon ! There is still noone in sight who can be a relacement for Sachin.

I think the current Indian batting line-up has the technique to survive on the most testing tracks. Its a matter of self-belief, and also playing on such tracks for most of the time.

I can't understand why Laxman scored a 96 ball 18. With a century and 65 from the last test, he should have been more positive. Being no.3, he was solid, but you shouldn't block that flair. He could have been more positive, because you've got Dravid coming in after you, and if you can dent the bowling with few boundaries, the pressure will be on others.

This is where Sachin used to specialize. Too bad, he's not been in test cricket very often in the last two years. Its time when he comes back, India rethink its batting approach, not only on flat tracks but on one's with vicious bounce/swing.

Hey, give credit to where it belongs. WI must have bowled a really tight spells, with good pace and help from the track. They deserve teh accolades.

If the pitch stays the same, it would be nice if MP and SS can extract something out of it.

Its a big task.

On Dhoni, I still think that it is too early in his career to label him simply as an 'entertainer' and nothing more. He can improve, and hopefully he will-that's all I have to say on that.

Almost lost? You people do realize that this is just the first day of a TEST match, right?

One thing's for sure though, we should get a result. Unless of course mother nature decides to ruin it.
