India may not play in the Champions trophy-2017

As I have mentioned elsewhere, BCCI is being very greedy here and are obviously turned off by just seeing the dip in the revenue that they get. What they are not seeing is that they are still getting a huge chunk of the share, its just that the percentage is lesser than what the Big Three setup. And the Big Three setup was obviously a bad sign for cricket in general and this new administration at ICC (led by Shashank Manohar) is trying to reverse the bad effects that the Big Three model brought with it.

But I dont agree with certain comments saying "Kick out BCCI, we can live without India". I challenge, I seriously challenge the ICC to live a year without BCCI being a part of it. ICC will collapse like nine pins and most likely BCCI will form its own independent "international cricket council" and will pull the other boards towards it. BCCI is not dependent on ICC, but the ICC is heavily dependent on BCCI. That's the reason the BCCI is flexing its powers so much till now.

Lets hope the BCCI get some sense into their heads and go with what the ICC offers. Shashank Manohar has hit the right nerve. Its painful right now at the moment, but if it works, he would have done great service to world cricket. To me, it's sad he couldn't continue long as BCCI chief. But he is in the right place now.

There you go! It is most likely to take place and the final decision will be announced after SGM meeting today. Team selection is scheduled to take place on Monday (tomorrow).

India will play the Champions Trophy: C.K. Khanna - The Hindu

Makes you think if the legal advice they got from the UK firm has some influence on this decision.[DOUBLEPOST=1494132425][/DOUBLEPOST]@SaiSrini Cricket has lived over a century with the Indians being a nobody in the game. If and when BCCI leave they will only suffer!

Can safely gather that the Indians have certainly bow today. It shows that no one is more important than the game!

BCCI earns most of their money through international series. If they're kicked out, no one will tour them. And foreign players won't play the IPL. BCCI won't be in a good place.

I mentioned in there that BCCI can form its own independent "international cricket council". With BCCI knowing cricket administration, they have the resources to pull it off. And if they do, all these other cricket boards will see the scarcity of money in the current ICC and will most likely port over to the new "ICC". Which means, the BCCI will be the new official boss of world cricket where they own their separate ICC.

Don't let the BCCI flex their money earning power. Its like giving Mukesh and Nita Ambani an unlimited purse in the IPL auction. They will get the best of the best on their side.

The only ones i see doing such a thing are Zimbabwe, WI and perhaps Bangladesh. And they could be easily replaced by Ireland, Afghanistan and another Associate. But we're talking "khiyali pulaos" now.

You are saying this because of the recent outvoting of the BCCI where these 'so called other nations' were involved in voting against. But you need to see that that BCCI pumped money is still flowing into world cricket when these nations made their vote against BCCI. But once BCCI completely takes itself out of play, these nations will see the acute scarcity of money. They will be thrown back to pre-80's when cricket had not yet taken off in India and the money was so small. Would these nations be willing to rebuild world cricket when there is a parallel ICC with BCCI involved and huge money flowing in there as it was until this cold war broke out? I highly doubt it and am confident these nations will drop their pants and move over. And I would say even your home country board PCB will toe the line.

How are you confident that there would be "huge money flowing" in this parallel ICC? The money the BCCI earns comes from sponsorships and TV deals. Without international cricket guaranteed, the sponsors and broadcasters wouldn't want to risk their money. And PCB won't "toe the line" unless the BCCI signs a contract guaranteeing bilateral series, which won't happen.

There is one important thing you are missing with this hypothesis and that is the MCC are still the copyright holders of the RULES OF CRICKET.

Also if the Indians attempt something of that magnitude there will be immense political pressure on each individual cricket board and the emotional stress to plaayers and fans will mean the end of the game.

Even so the legal ramifications and counter suits the BCCI stand to face would all but bankrupt them!

Excellent points! Those Indian fanatics are insane so full of themselves that they speak madness.

The revenue the CA/WICB/NZ/SA/PCB/SL are earning the same amount they would have earned before the 'Big 3' takeover with the ECB like a 1% increase. All the excess revenue stream through cricket in the last decade or so has been siphoned through the BCCI.

Wet dreams on both the sides.
Thinking Pakistan will toe the line and Indian cricket will die without ICC.
