Pakistan off to a brilliant start!

Pakistan are off to a flying start with 20/0 off 3 overs at 6.67 runs per over. Salman Butt is not out on 10* and Hameed is not out on 9*. Pathan and Balaji are finding it tough to contain the batsman in these conditions. Pakistan require 289 more runs off 47 overs.

Pakistan are 136/1 after 25 overs. They need 173 more runs to win this game and their required run rate is 6.92 runs per over. The required run rate somewhat tilts this match in India's favor but this match is still within the reach of either team as Pakistan have wickets in hand. Shoaib Malik is not out on 39* and Yasir Hameed is not out on 48*. Hameed in particular was very scratchy against Anil Kumble but Kumble bowled a bad over for 9 runs and relieved all the pressure he put on Pakistan.

At the resume of the game, Pakistan need 164 off 23 overs at 7.13 runs per over. Yasir Hameed applying more pressure on himself and Pakistan by scoring at a very slow rate. He has scored 49 off 90 balls. On the other end, Shoaib Malik has scored 45 off 44 balls. Kumble applying the brakes on Hameed who has no clue to Kumble's googlies!

India look the favorites to win this match! Though Pakistan have not lost a wicket yet after their first wicket, they seem to be batting very slow and now their required run rate is 8.14 runs per over. They need 114 runs off 14 overs. India look to be contended to give singles to Pakistan.

Yasir Hameed OUT!! Pakistan need 89 runs to win!

Hameed was out for 66 stumped by Dhoni off Harbhajan Singh. Pakistan require 89 runs to win off 11 overs at 8.91 per over. An enormous task!! India certainly would fancy their chances!

Balaji is going through a poor over. He is not able to control the ball (not able to control the cursor man!). He has given another 4 wides. Down to the last ball. 6 runs needed. Younis Khan on strike!!

INDIA WIN BY 1 RUN!!!

What an amazing fight by Pakistan!! They should be unlucky to lose this one! India for their very good bowling early on almost lost the whole plot. The last ball, they needed 6 runs to win. Younis Khan lofted it high over mid on and the catch was missed and the worser thing was, the ball missed and went for a four. Khan was dejected and the Indians heaved a sigh of relief. A TERRIFIC MATCH!!! India win by 1 run and lead the series 2-0. Report, presentation ceremony, etc to follow!

INDIA WIN ANOTHER CLIFF HANGER BY 1 RUN!!

India have won another cliff hanger of a match by 1 run. India scored 308 runs and set a target of 309 for Pakistan to win this match.

Pakistan innings:

Pakistan started off well with Salman Butt and Yasir Hameed scoring freely. They scored at over 6 runs per over till the 15 over restriction mark. Salman Butt was run out for 41 when Hameed misjudged a run and saw Butt inches short of his ground.

Shoaib Malik then joined Hameed. Malik who had scored a century in the first ODI was at his best and stroked the ball very well and was scoring well. Hameed suddenly went into a shell and also the Indian bowlers especially Kumble started applying pressure on him. He was finally out for a scratchy 66 when he charged down the wicket to Bhajji and was smartly stumped by Dhoni.

Inzamam then joined Malik who by then was at his peak. Inzamam started off well and gradually built momentum and started hitting the bowlers out of the attack. Pakistan needed 45 runs of the last 3 overs and Inzamam and Malik started taking risks which paid rick dividends.

Tendulkar was allowed to bowl the penultimate over. Inzamam hit him for 2 fours of the first two balls before holing out to mid on for 38 runs. Off the very next ball, Youhana skied the ball and was caught at mid off by Yuvraj Singh for 0. Younis Khan negated the hat trick ball.

The last over was bowled by Balaji. He bowled poorly and sent down 9 wides allowing Pakistan to fight back. Pakistan needed 6 runs off the last ball and Younis Khan hit it high and he was dropped by Pathan and the ball went for a four leaving India winners by 1 run.

Shoaib Malik was the star for Pakistan with another brilliant century. He scored 115* but he could not win the match for Pakistan in the end. Hameed scored 66 but was scratchy for most part. Butt scored 40 while Inzamam scored 38. For India, Tendulkar was the highest wicket taker with 2/11 while others bowled below average. Harbhajan Singh was expensive today and so was Balaji.

India now lead the 6 match series 2-0 and one more victory would give them an unbeatable lead in this series! Pakistan need to win the remaining four matches to win this series. But anyone who has followed this series would certainly say that they will give a very good fight!!

Yes. It was terrific rearguard action from Pakistan. I never expected them to bat so well in the last few overs! Had Younis Khan hit the last ball a bit more powerfully, it would have been celebrations for Pakistan!

Pakistan need to win the next 4 matches to win the series. This is a 6 match ODI series!

Man of the Match: Shoaib Malik

for his brilliant unbeaten 115*!! he is now a contender for the Man of the series with two back to back hundreds!

Third ODI at Chennai on the 21st March!! It will be a Day/Night affair!

Yep.. Surely this match was better than the first one which also was terrific!!

So far in this whole series, we have had only one listless match (the first test in Mumbai!). All others have been very closely contested!

Balaji's place looks to be under threat for the next ODI. The captain and selectors seriously considering to replace him with Zaheer Khan!

really?? good.. i made a change today. In the player editor, I made yasir hameed the wicket keeper. since you did not have any keepers, the first ODI had Mohammed Sami keeping and it deprived Pakistan of a bowler! Hameed will keep wickets for the rest of the series as he seems to be fine with it!
