India Team Discussion

You dislike the choice of Shastri as the Indian coach, yet you call claims of Kohli being the most powerful man in the Indian dressing room horseshit when he has been the one who has publicly advocated for Shastri being the coach? :p

There came an article about Anshuman Gaekwad claiming Ravi Shastri is the right choice before Kohli even said something. If Kohli doesn't do well he won't be backed either. Calling one person being more powerful than 100s is like living in a fantasy world.

I know TNPL is a joke T20 league. But this ashwin versus Vijay mini battle was absolutely cringey. Two international players acting like clowns on the 22 yards :facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

Come on man ! How can you say like that ? A lot of people don't even get opportunities to showcase their talent at domestic level. TNPL actually gives them a platform to do well. Same goes for KPL (Karnataka Premier league) & Mumbai T20.

If anything, their antics show absolute disrespect for their own teammates and opposition. We all know that they are international players, there is no need to lord it over the others for the sake of a few laughs.

Doesn't stop it from being a showcase of mediocrity at best. Have seen the matches from these local leagues? Barring a few new comers, I don't think any player takes these games seriously. Its more a pocket money earner than a talent showcase

And KPL is even worse. Half the players over there have the fitness levels worse than ramesh powar.

TNPL is a complete joke. More so Ashwin who with his this nonsense bowling is making more mockery of cricket. He is clearly chucking and he should definitely be banned from bowling in cricket. We have enough spinners and he should just stay out of the team.

I actually go back on my words and now concur with Aalay's recent statement that India needs big hitters for every position in the middle order and so it makes sense to force fit KL Rahul into the middle order in T20's so that Dhawan and Rohit open and Kohli bats at No. 3. Pandey is clearly not that option and I feel Iyer might also not be that choice who can come in and start hitting from the word go. Rahul can hit from the word go. And I think India need to bring back Dinesh Karthik and use him for the T20 World Cup. It feels so wrong that they discarded him for a format where he is a 'specialist' just because he had a bad ODI World Cup. And with the T20 WC next year, Karthik has the age and the experience to be in India's T20 middle order in Australia. This is how our T20 side should look like (incl. the backups):

Rohit
Dhawan
Kohli
Rahul
Pant
Hardik
Krunal
Bhuvi
Sundar
Bumrah
Saini

Backups:
D Karthik
R Jadeja
K Ahmed
Y Chahal
D Chahar

A joke which brought Washington Sundar to IPL and then to his International side.
Washington Sundar was not bought into the Indian side based on his TNPL performance. He was bought because he played good cricket in other domestic games plus as Kohli mentioned, he shed some weight has got more fitter and looks more determined.

Even if he was picked based on TNPL performance, the fact will not change that the tournament is just a joke. One should not be allowed to mock cricket in any form and Ashwin just does that, no wonder he is not in any league and CSK got rid of him.

Just because you have a good picture of TNPL, does not mean all will have the same.

Cricbuzz said:
"2023 is too far ahead to be honest," said the 30-year-old during the post-match press conference after the third T20I. "You start looking forward to the World Cup and planning for it 12 months prior. Not four years away. I think the priority is to keep Indian cricket at the top. Play consistent cricket, go out there and win games."

Cant believe that the Indian captain is talking like this. Due to the ODI World Cup being on a 4-year cycle, captains and teams all around the world start planning for the next WC the moment the previous one ends or a few months after the previous one ends. It takes time to find the right players and give them sufficient game time to ensure that they are experienced enough when the next WC comes. And here, our captain dilutes the importance of the tournament by saying that it is enough to start planning for it 12 months before the tournament and not four years away.

I was shocked to read that. Did he really say like that ? :facepalm

I think he wouldn't even have thought anything in line with that when he started as a Captain. So a bad company has degraded his standards you would say ?

Are you being sarcastic here? I hope not! I am not hinting at his company in anyway (in fact with Kohli being Indian cricket's de facto boss at the moment, I don't think he is the one getting influenced).

With regards to whether he said that - I have quoted that paragraph from the Cricbuzz article and also added in the link to that article in my post. You can check that to see if Kohli really said that.

Shubman Gill just scored a double century in the third and final test against West Indies A. Hanuma Vihari scored 118 and both partnered to score 300 runs partnership. Gill is special and he is going to be the next big thing, not Shaw, not Iyer, its going to be Gill
