India Team Discussion

though im a SRT fan , i would prefer dravid for that role, sourav would be gold but he has too much history with MSD.
I was just about to post the exact same thing

I am a thorough Sachin fan, but I feel Dravid's experience as RR mentor and coach should edge him over Sachin and Ganguly.

Here is India's itenary for the rest of the year -

June: Tour of Bangladesh ( 1 Test and 3 ODIs)

July: Tour of Zimbabwe ( 3 ODIs and 2 T20s)

August: Tour of Sri Lanka (3 Tests)

September: Champions League T20

October-November: South Africa's tour of India ( 4 Tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20s)

December: Tour of UAE (vs Pakistan) - 3 Tests and 5 ODIs (not yet confirmed)

India will have to do more than a buyout to win agaisnt the strongest side Bangladesh have ever produced.

so true .. its absolutely horrible that BCCI ran out of money. Would have preferred them buying their way into the finals as well. Back to back world cups even .. BCCI s*cks

Finally some decent decisions being made by BCCI.

Sourav Ganguly Agrees to Become Team India's High Performance Manager - Cricket News

Ganguly's proposed role, said sources, would require him to work across the board. He is being offered the role of High Performance Manager of Team India, along the lines of Cricket Australia. He is understood to have been told to prepare a blueprint on how the Indian team can perform better abroad.

The board wants Tendulkar to help upgrade the National Cricket Academy from a rehab center to a world-class training and research facility. He is also expected to work with out-of-form cricketers, the ones with problems in their technique and help them stage comebacks.

Top sources in the Indian cricket board have also confirmed that they want Dravid as the Talent Development Manager, based in Bangalore. His role would be to work closely with the Under-19 team and identify talent for the national team, while also working with the NCA.

Ganguly to improve overseas performance,Tendulkar to take care of the out-of-form and Dravid to identify young talents.Well that is one good decision by BCCI. If it goes well,Indian team is going to benefit a lot from these legends.

Dravid fits the role perfect, Ganguly fits the role perfect but Sachin is questionable looks like someone just gifted him a role, in which case I hope there are pros in the background to develop the center, cuz Sachin aint no research analyst playboi!
But I do think its because many Indian cricketers like Kohli and Raina approaches Sachin when out of form and it seems to work for them too. That might be why he was given that role.

Gautam Gambhir: People in India consider IPL bigger than first-class cricket but I think the first-class cricket of any country should be far more important than the IPL because in the T20 format it is very difficult to judge a young batsman.

If that's true, IPL/BCCI have really mind @#$%ed Indian fans

oh please ...all this t20 importance nonsense...t20 is not importnat but its fun accessible.. i can turn up on a sunday night to see a show down between kkr n csk, were as i cant take a 4 day leave to see a match between karnataka and tamilandu thats about it, doesnt mean people give more importance to one over another. I always thought gambhir smoked something, him and his nonsense as usual. He probably scored a couple of tons in FC so he is trying to bang about it to get a chance into the team.

FWIW starsports telecast ranji matches FTA...cant be doing that if there was no following.

Also if we go to other countries for parallel unless Pieterson turns up county matches are played with 10 man and a dog as audience right :p were as t20 blast gets some crowd going.

its the same everywhere we are living in an age were time is the most important resource, so t20 will always be more accessible than other formats doesn't mean its better than them though or people classify it above test or odi.

I recall reading an article a couple years before Sachin's retirement entitled 'Why Sachin is no God of cricket' and in that article they indicated that the IPL's overall effect will be diminishing the amount of test cricket and hence no player will ever be able to pass Tendulkar in most centuries and most games played. Obviously taking out first class cricket is first on the list for the death of tests. So in some ways many Indians will be gratified that Sachin's records will never be broken whilst at the same time enjoying the drama of the IPL, yep I said drama cuz the IPL/BCCI seems more like a soap opera than anything. Either way its a win-win for the Indians and the rest of the cricketing world suffers................yeah if its anyone thats mind tweaked its us!

With the squad for Bangladesh tour to be announced tomorrow, any guesses on how it would be? Hope they would give youngsters a chance and it would be a good chance for Virat to prove his captaincy skill, and for Saha to prove his worth as the new wicketkeeper batsman after the retirement of M S.
