I'd say we would be barking mad not to involve Ashwin in the next test. Lord's and a slope. Ishant Sharma in for Siraj. But, we might get spooked for playing Kuldeep at a wet Lord's last time round and play 4 quicks and Jadeja.

Kohli has already mentioned that the current team is the "TEMPLATE" team. This is what the TEMPLATE will be. He might think of changing this "TEMPLATE" if needed. Also I do not see anything wrong. If it is going to spin and is a dry surface, Ashwin will surely come in.

I'm guessing by template he means: 6 batsman (inc. WK) an all rounder + bowlers. Jadeja's batting (and Hardik's injury) has solidified him as first choice all rounder, but if Hardik was able to bowl you could play him and Ashwin.

I don't know what difference Ashwin would have made in this match, the Indian seamers were very good and Jadeja provided that filling in role to give them a rest and scored an excellent 50.

Only issue might be bowler fitness and conditions. Commentators were suggesting Shardul might have picked up a niggle. Indian bowlers two full innings compared with England. Although there is a bit more of a break in between 2nd and 3rd test.

It is a where India have an advantage over everyone; they have a world class attack for any conditions. Whether they need four seamers or three spinners (probably four or five if required) they can put out a quality attack.
