Indian Domestic Cricket

It's Advantage Mumbai at Stumps on Day 3. UP entered the day striving hard to stretch their total as far as possible but other than Shukla nobody sparkled with the bat today. Zaheer continued with his golden form by picking up seven wickets and gave Mumbai a big lead. And since then, Mumbai have never looked back as their openers have built on their lead and are in a strong position at the moment. They would look to pile on the agony tomorrow and that should call for some exciting action.

Well It is hard now for UP to save the match. What else could you expect from in form Zaheer?

Uh huh, the last rites are coming.

Edit: Nayar supposedely moving up the order, should be good fun now.

Zaheer Khan really has matured into one of the greats; I really hope that the ravages of age do not trap Zaheer for another few years as he is unstoppable in such form - especially when he reverses the ball against the tailenders.

Middle order collapse much? Effectively 404/6 with a day and a half to go, so we should have it in the bag. :upray

Well we have almost won the game now. Our run rate was better than UP in the first innings. And hopefully it will be in the second innings..

Mumbai batsmen went on to dominate the day's play with Samant, Jaffer and Rohit Sharma getting big scores to their names and in a process they batted Uttar Pradesh completely out of the contest. With the final day remaining, the UP batsmen have nothing to lose as they stare at an absolutely improbable target. Now do Mumbai bowlers have something special in store would be an interesting thing to watch out for.

Sharma with two centuries in the final--that should certainly, and perhaps unfortunately, help his chances to get selected into a Test squad. Mumbai have this in the bag--I think it is safe to begin the celebrations!

Mumbai has done it...........Hail Mumbai

shubhrayu added 4 Minutes and 41 Seconds later...

Hoping something better from Maharashtra and Bengal next time....

Wasim Jaffer leads his side back into the dressing room, leading his side in the truest of senses, he has had a terrific run in this season, the leading run-getter and his decisions under the captain's cap has worked wonders as well. This is a happy lot. And on the other side you see Kaif leading his troop to shake hands with the Champions, this is UP's 3rd Final appearance in 4 years now, losing back to back finals now. They would be very disappointed, choked on the big stage.

The best part of the story has been Mumbai's in-form players really taking up the challenge to seal this win. Talk about Jaffer, talk about Dhawal Kulkarni, Zaheer Khan wasn't any far behind, all these members have used their form brilliantly to ensure their side this historic win. Young people like Abhishek Nayar and Rohit Sharma didn't get bogged down as they too came up with sparkling performances especially the latter being instrumental in setting up the totals for his side. Samant scored his maiden ton, a much needed one in the context of the game. This makes the win more tasteful and delightful indeed.

Haha My hometown Rocks Uttar pradesh played well but not that good! :happy

That one inswinger from Zaheer to Shukla I think was gold. He didn't even know how to play it :D
