Indian Domestic Cricket

Abhishek Nayar, what a boss. 259 vs North Zone, West pile up 769 and have the North tottering at 36/3.

Nayar. :hpraise

Good stuff from Nayar.

South Zone chased down 295 in the last innings, courtesy 50s from Badri and Pandey. :D So South vs West in the finals then.

Yay, Pandey :banana2!

Hmm, Pujara got a 77 and a 100 in the same match. However, it seems as though it was a ridiculously flat track.

Great performance from Jadeja as well. Scores of 61 and 56 and also took 3/54.

Why the hell did West Zone bat again after posting 700+ and North making just under 300. Doesn't make any sense.

They're just playing the system. Under Indian domestic FC rules, if you win the first innings, you win the game if it is a draw. Thus, if West just bat it out, they effectively eliminate the chances of the match having a result and thus they will go through.

It's silly, but that's how the system works.

WOW well that is weird, don't make much sense to have it that way.

Yeah, there is no added benefit to win a knockout game. All you need to do is score more runs than the other team and then draw the match. In league fixtures, there's a slight penalty because you get more points for a win. You also get more points for a win by an innings or win by 10 wickets than a normal win.

Did anybody see Nayar's dance after Mumbai won the Ranji trophy? What a legend.
As well as that, Pandey's catch to get him out was unbelievable.

It is a shame though, I think Karthik's time as a Test player may be highly limited. He has had plenty of opportunities and just cannot seem to perform in Test matches, playing down the order. Perhaps it is a mental block, but he just does not play with the same freedom that he did when opening in Test matches, when playing in the middle order in Test matches.

Well, that's his surname, so what exactly are you expecting after? :p

South Zone are in a good position at the moment after bowling WZ for 251. Yusuf was able to smash a century to give WZ some hope which is probably one of the few good innings he has been able to play, other than that no other WZ batsman was able to score 25+. Ganapathy was able to get a 5 wicket haul and was unlucky not to end up with 6 wickets.

South Zone has some amazing talent, considering Badrinath, Pandey, Vinay and Mithun were chosen by India or the BPXI. Hopefully they can finish it off tomorrow though. Nice work from Ganapathy too and great innings from Karthik. Hopefully the selectors haven't completely given up on him.
