Indian Premier League - General Discussion

No, the biased is blatant. I get the appointment of DK but Ashwin is bloody lucky to even have an IPL contract, let alone one more exclusive than the likes of Chahal and Kuldeep. But the captain? That's a freaking joke! I think he has been treated like a scolded dog in the limited overs and I am licking my chops for him to get pasted come IPL. Lastly, his big mouth and stinky attitude is the last thing a team needs. Your argument of him being the second best bowler in test cricket is hilarious! This is the IPL. Not test cricket. By that logic why not make Pujara the CSK captain?

I am not a 'state' person when it comes to cricket. For me it's India first and De Villiers after.. so I don't really care which part of India Ashwin hails from but he to me is a fantastic example of someone who suddenly got some fame and now thinks the earth spins on his axis!

Oh come on seriously! Your hate for Ashwin is just blindsiding you! Bloody lucky to even have an IPL contract? Seriously? First of all, this is domestic cricket tournament. And secondly, Ashwin is still a frontline India bowler who is ranked No. 2 in test cricket. And he is playing only test cricket because Kohli has gone with attacking spinners in ODI and T20. That doesn't mean Ashwin has lost it. Its just that India have luckily found two leggies at the same time to turn on the screws in LOI cricket. Many other international teams would easily have Ashwin in their side for ODI and T20 just for his bowling.

I agree that currently Ashwin can't make the India LOI sides. But to call him 'lucky to have an IPL contract' is way biased to the point of being ridiculous.

Life is about creating a balance of power. Just as you are enamoured by his sight and feel he should be the captain of a franchise, I feel he should not have an IPL contract. Your logic of his test credentials lending any credibility to his IPL selection I still find hilarious. I know how irate you would be if Pujara was made the captain of CSK. The truth lies somewhere in between in regards to Ashwin- He probably deserves to be part of IPL, but captain of a franchise? Probably not. Kings XI Punjab I hope have invoked a clause in his contract that he cannot use Twitter during the IPL.

Why? The last jersey was fabulous. Also, it remained the same from the start. You don’t change a good thing.

If Pujara was a fast enough T20 batsman and was selected by CSK, I would love to see him captain CSK (of course MSD captains CSK for a season or two before passing on the baton). And your comparison of Pujara-Ashwin is totally misplaced. Tight overs of bowling in T20 cricket is highly valued and gold. On the contrary to slow batting which kills the momentum of the innings, bowling tight overs will win you games 99% of the time. That's where Ashwin becomes a more prizier entity in T20's than Pujara.

And second, Ashwin has always been captaincy material due to his personality (don't bring up his talking; he talks way less than our captain and many players who are in the side) and his experience with his state side. In fact, Ashwin is ideal vice captain to Kohli in test cricket. Ashwin right now loses out on a place in limited overs ONLY because India have adopted an attacking strategy where they want wickets from the spinners and have gone with two attacking spinners. You saw how Sundar bowled in the last two T20 games (against SL and Bangladesh). He was excellent with his economy, which helped the team immensely. However the wickets column was almost bare. That doesn't mean Sundar failed. That's how Ashwin is.

Partly concur. I though wished that they made some minor tweaks to the color palette of the jersey and made it slightly more stylish. The yellow and the blue has integrated deep into the psyche of CSK supporters (and maybe even among people who are not supporters, but have watched CSK). Some tweaks could've been done. But I guess this season is all about bringing back the nostalgia among the fans and that should work big time. Maybe next season onwards, they can update the design.

The theme song is good. But last were better.

Don't forget the best of all time, Yuvraj Singh :p.
Pawan Negi - ahem ahem...

Flintoff was the leader in all these.
